Gaming rig

Only 3 of those charts have the 1100T ahead of the i5-750. On top of that, that's the first generation i5, not the current Sandy Bridge i5 CPUs. Frankly, I'm rather appalled that the 1100T lost so many of those tests...

Again, we're talking about current generation Sandy Bridge i5/i7 CPUs, not the previous generation. In that respect, I rest my case.

Also, I'm running a Phenom II X4 965BE right now (see my signature), so your "mr. intel fanboi 4 lif3" jab at me is quite amusing. If anything, I'm an AMD fanboy, but even I can see that the Sandy Bridge quad cores are superior to AMD's current offerings. With any luck, Bulldozer will change that.

Also, your video has the 2500k winning as well. You're proving my point all too well; the Sandy Bridge i5/i7 CPU's are much faster than AMD's 6-core CPUs.

Thank you for helping me here bud. :)

Hmm... I honestly thought the video compared the i7 2600k, which I knew would be the victor, but it was comparing the 2500k. I was sure the 920 outperforms the 2500k which is why I brought those benchmarks up

It seems I dun goof'd, I apologize.

ehh... I don't know much about computer parts and brands but I think I heard in the past that you don't want to mix intel/radeon or AMD/nivdia

That is not true at all, just some people like to have ati cpu with ati video cards.

And Muffinz those should be fine and the Sapphire 6950 would probably be a better choice, in most comparisons the 2GB does better than the 1GB, but I wouldn't say 50$ worth.

y r u geting a micro atx board? i would go with the ASUS P8P67 (REV 3.0) LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0.

If nothing else major in your build changes (ie CPU and GPU), I would get this power supply instead: Corsair CX430V2. Make sure it's the V2 though as the original version is based on some fourish year old tech.

There's nothing wrong with that board, though I do wonder why you don't want a full ATX. What case are you using? The Ripjaws are a very nice kit, and right now 4GB is where it's at. The thing is RAM is cheaper than I've ever seen it before with solid 8GB kits at $50. If you do have just a bit of spare cash you don't mind spending, that's where I'd put it. If not, don't sweat it. 4GB is plenty right now.

I'd add a bigger power supply to make it future proof. Upgrades you do are really dependent on the size of your power supply. It's also better to have too much than too little.

This D:

I've upgraded so much that my 540watts on the +12V rail is under powering my rig :chair:

Yeah in the last 3 months I have gone through 2 power supplies and once the Bulldozer gets released, I'll need another one. Current one is still good but I'll be adding new video cards along with the chip. Soon my wife is going to kill me.

@ a pet rock. i have nothing against the board. its just y would u go micro atx board when u have a gpu that is about 7inches long... rather go full atx with 2 pci slots for dual gpu's. plus the board i posted is basically the same price for the micro.

Ehh, the only upgrade you do that substantially increases power draw is adding a second card. Even if you go from a i5 750 to a i7 990x, power draw only increases by 50W. And going from a 6950 to a 580 is the same difference (roughly). If he keeps that micro-ATX board, he won't be able to SLI/CF so that kinda means you won't need more than 500W period.

And yeah, ddily, I agree with you. If I'm building in a full ATX case, I would use a full ATX board, especially if it's got all the features for the same price. But if he's planning on recycling or buying a micro-ATX case, he's gotta use a micro-ATX board.

Ok thanks everyone, I have found everything that I needed and will be ordering my stuff most likely later tonight.
