Should we reset stats?

Here is an idea that will shorten my life expectancy:

Reset the points and change the system so that points are only awarded for capturing flags and killing people who are in the act of capturing flags.

It would be worth it just to see the changes in playing style.

Go for it! Personally, I would want to have no stats at all on the servers. But thats not likely to happen. Anyway, hit the reset button.

He's not saying. He posted an open-ended question and then didn't come back to say anything. My theory is that it's not actually in consideration...Spray's just being a troublemaker. What a jerk. :cursing: ENJOY THE DISSENSION, SPRAY.

camping a play style I doubt a point reset will change anyones tendency to camp....Also will certain pubbers rage-quit eGO servers because of the reset "I spent a long time getting to where I am"

Well it may not be possible. What I bet is possible is that the point value for flag capture and the point value for winning a round could be increased. If it was a significant increase you would see more flag rushes and more, dare I say it, teamwork.

Well it may not be possible. What I bet is possible is that the point value for flag capture and the point value for winning a round could be increased. If it was a significant increase you would see more flag rushes and more, dare I say it, teamwork.

You can change point values for different events. You can change the ranking system as well. You need to be careful with the values you adjust or assign however. Some people will base their play style around gaining maximum points.

Anzio is currently the best server to go to if you are looking to increase your HLStats score. This is due to the fact that flags change hands quickly. Mostly short rounds and multiple single cap flags with no defined enemy lines make this possible. If you increase flag cap values you may inadvertently cause Anzio to become the only server that some people play. Not that this is not already the case.

I am not sure there is a way however to alter HLStats's ranking system that will serve the purpose of convincing players to be not only team centric but play more intelligently. I think for that we will need specific rules for potential prizes.

I dont get many random headshots. I play the Thompson most of the time and get maybe 4 RHS's in 1 hour. That was how it was last night.

I'm not saying the servers don't need attention, I'm saying every thread in DOD somehow goes back to populating servers. I'm saying this thread ISN'T about populating the servers, this one is about resetting the stats.
