What do You Want?

Alot of these Ideas rest on new servers, but how many, if any servers are we capable of adding to our rotation? Might it be more prudent to figure out what configuration would be best for our 3 currents servers, assuming no additions (maybe 1 at max for events).

Also don't forget, Back to Karkand comes out soon with the 4 most popular maps from BF2, needless to say, they might become the 4 most popular BF3 maps... we should be prepared for this and consider either a Back to Karkand only server? Or other iterations of the same basic Idea.

Assuming a limited amount of servers, and maps which when released may quickly become more popular than Caspian/Firestorm, is a good place to start as far as deciding on server changes.

**while I support a mixed conq/rush server, I must protest at the idea of mixing hardcore/normal. If it is X hard to kill a person on one map, and it changes to a map where it is 2X hard to kill them, might agitate people. Let people who join decide whether they want hardcore or normal, and leave the maps and modes to the server.

• Change 64 player conquest to 24/7 caspian border / firestorm with fast vehicle spawn (Remember the success of the Heavy metal server)
• Run the Punish add on on all hardcore servers, this is crucial, we are loosing too many new players over the amount of team killing in our servers.
• Turn the normal rush to hardcore rush.

We need to step up our game soon, other clans like Killzone are attracting a lot of people with innovative servers.

Regarding Servers, personally I would like to see a 32 player Team DM server (Normal or HC, it doesn't really matter to me). Also this server could be used as our Event Server. As a BF Division EC I cannot wait to start hosting weekly events for the division. I have a lot of ideas from myself and various members of the division that I would like to try out.

Regarding Maps. Mortar (Seine) Crossing, I do not believe it should be removed from the rotation as the developers know about the issue with mortar spam and are working on a fix...or so they say.

I do however still believe that 64 player Conquest Operation Metro should be removed from our server rotations. I see no need to state why I believe so as the reasons have already been brought up in this thread and the other where the debate was originally started.

I am in full support of this. I think having a dedicated event server is a great idea since right now there doesn't seem to be much in the ways of organized BF3 activities. Even a lot of features on the site still point towards Bad Company 2.

Other than that, I think the 64 player Hardcore server should remain with maybe a few changes as noted above, and some drastic changes made to the 64 player 24/7 conquest server since there's a million of those and it could do with some innovation. A third one could be for the events. I am opposed to having a mixed server because it could alienate people who start crying foul when they realize that they are missing the features of a normal server compared to a Hardcore one on a map change. It just seems unnecessary.

"Since the server crashes and defaults back to Tehran highway it is hard to get the server started again, instead of the first map being Tehran highway in the rotation change it to Caspian Border or some other map that will restart the server faster than tehran highway."

First and foremost, our servers crash way too much! I do not know if this is our server provider or EA, but it is killing our server reputation fast.

After saying that, I only play on Hardcore.

* Remove killcam on Hardcore! <===============

I messed around with the regular conquest map rotation but never did on HC Conquest... They both are mixed up a little.

Crashes are being figured out and should be fixed soon.

As to kill cam here is the config from the RCON layer of the server

vars.autoBalance true
vars.friendlyFire true
vars.killCam false
vars.miniMap true
vars.hud false
vars.3dSpotting false
vars.miniMapSpotting true
vars.nameTag false
vars.3pCam false
vars.regenerateHealth false
vars.vehicleSpawnAllowed true
vars.soldierHealth 60
vars.playerRespawnTime 100
vars.playerManDownTime 100
vars.bulletDamage 100
vars.onlySquadLeaderSpawn true

As you can see killcam is off. It has been that way since we got the server. Is it just our hardcore server that has a killcam or do others have the killcam? Please PM me the answer (Please be 100% certain. I don't want an answer of I'm pretty sure I didn't see one on that server).

Guys be as creative as you want. We don't have to keep 2 conquest and 1 rush. Tell us what you want to see.

Nope other servers have this issue as well, the Killcam is still being worked on by Dice from what I heard, it will be patched in their upcoming updates.

When the server crashes, killcam comes on for the first map. After that during rotation, it goes away. At least, that's what happened last night on the 64-man 24/7 Hardcore server. Just seems to be a hiccup.

Operation Metro and Seine Crossing should stay. Go outside your comfort zone a little, create some strategies. They are maps that require a heavy emphasis on teamwork and coordination. If your team doesn't possess that, you have a hell of a time winning because one person can't go into "hero-mode" and save the map. Both maps exemplify what the Battlefield series is all about. They are fast-paced, intense, and great for getting points/upgrades.

It's the requirement for coordination that makes people dislike this map. There are certain other FPS games (that may have killstreaks that reward you with tactical nukes) that may suit your fancy if that is the case. Those maps are true infantry-based Battlefield maps and are a ton of fun in my opinion. I've played rounds where my team gets the upper hand, I have a 4.0 kdr, and we have an immense victory. I've played rounds where my team gets pinned down, I get a 0.2 kdr, and we have a crushing defeat. Both situations are incredibly fun and take some strategizing to win. You win some, you lose some. Stats shouldn't matter. If you have to have good stats to enjoy a game...go play pacman.

Other maps allow for one person to sneak in and capture a point, enabling their team to win. Seine/Metro requires the whole team to smash their way in and capture a point.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

great post, agree with you totally, this is a team game and not about personal achievements even if many players want it to be like that.

We need a hc rush server big time in my opinion that's what I play and we don't have one.... So I go to other servers to play

An event server would be great for some events.

Maybe mix in some TDM to the rush server, or take the lesser played of the conquest servers and turn it into some TDM.

Server location adjustment would be nice.

Leave Metro and Siene in the rotations, they just require more teamwork to beat, still a lot of fun.

Server crashes are pretty annoying, but are said to be being looked at.

More people to play co-op with me to help get g3a3 :P

my 2 cents

1) Remove Killcam in hardcore

2) Make the HC conquest server a mixed server with however many different game types you'd like. I'd personally prefer the Conquest/TDM/Rush rotation I posted in my DB post a while back, leadership can reference that for exact specifications as to how it would work. (32 player)

2b) If we did have a mixed server, I'd prefer that OP Metro remain in for the rush/TDM versions of it.

3) Remove Op Metro from the Hardcore Conquest rotation, leave it in normal. No point in having all the teamkilling from nadespam. Otherwise it's just a dumb map to have 64 players in, but we already had a vote on that and it passed, so this would be a halfway point that I believe is a bit more "fair."

4) If possible, change coloring on rules in the chat box to something more noticeable. Unfortunately, this means it will draw attention away from the action, but that's kind of the point.

just running normal 64 or 32 man servers will not attract new members to us.

Lies and slander...just playing the game without showing initiative for recruiting will not get us new members.

Right, done hijacking this thread.

I know its not popular by this thread, but I state again, hardcore is not my preferred option, and I feel we will lose some people over it. If possible, keep the servers the way they are, but mix the rotation: as Druid said, Tehran is not a good server-filling map. By expanding our numbers, we can/will be granted more servers.

My first thought is reorder the rotation and put Tehran Highway later in the rotation. As already stated, that is my least favorite map and it is hard to start after a server crash. Possibly take Metro out of conquest and maybe Seine Crossing. Although I won't complain about the crazy number of points. Maybe have a server with different settings, like instant vehicle spawn, less spawn time or certain weapon restrictions. That's not a huge suggestion, but I do enjoy those servers as an alternative.

Last but not least, add more servers when the map pack gets released with possibly one with just those maps while they are hot. Capitalize on the influx of players who want those maps and recruit all the good ones. :)

24/7 metro conquest please!!!! so much fun not trolling, just my opinion

1. Operation Metro is a must go due to its chaos and not very fun for the majority of players.
2. Tehran Highway should be moved to the middle or end of map rotation due to when the server crashes or resets its the first map and its VERY difficult to refill the server afterwards. once i think of anything else i'll post again.

I know you dont like it but check all the stats on battlelog, Hardcore servers have a huge edge over normal servers. Showing initiative is not an issue but we need people to show the initiative too. We need to be innovative with our servers, that is my main point, if we can do that attracting new members would be a breeze. We dont want to give off the image of just another clan with servers out there. Its not about personal preferences but about what people like, Battlelog is an easy research tool if you want to see what people are playing.

Drawing from my own play style, I find myself defaulting to our Hardcore Conquest server. It also managed to outrank our Normal server pretty quickly on GameTracker. In addition to that, I just witnessed our Hardcore Conquest player count disappear before my eyes when Operation Metro came around. I understand that it's a change of pace compared to the majority of the other maps, but my God, it's an RPG/nade fest every single time, and I think the majority of our public players are getting tired of it.

Yup.

Alot more people play normal mode... not hardcore mode.
