Need New Updated Build

what about a nividia graphics card? also my friend is giving me a samsung 830 i believe its 200 gb or something like that
 
your lucky that ur friend is giving you his samsung 830 (unless theres some issue with it or he has another 1). also i agree, just wait it out.

ya when i get $$ aside, im gonna upgrade for sandy bridge & skip ivy bridge. i am tired, so if i worded that wrong, please forgive me. just gotta upgrade the cpu, mobo & memory & ill be set for a while.
 
What graphics card should I get it doesn't have to be radeon? What reg hd should I get?
 
I recently picked up a GTX 660Ti 3gb superclocked and couldn't be happier. Every game max settings, no fps drop, so stuttering, low power draw and stays cool under load. Also the new series of Nvidia cards can run multiple monitor setups.
 
660 Ti is nice, but the 3gb requires a price premium with the cheapest on newegg at $330. 7950 comes standard with 3gb and is faster on average. It can also be overclocked much further with the ability to change the voltage and rivals the 670 in terms of performance overclocked. Additionally, the 384-bit memory interface will not be a problem in terms of bottlenecking whereas the 192-bit on the 660 Ti could be. And the 7950 can be had for cheaper compared to the 660 ti 3gb.

I assume by reg hd you meant a mechanical hard drive. Caviar blacks are considered to be the best as they are almost the only ones that comes with a 5 year warranty as opposed to a 1 or 2 year (most companies lowered warranties after the floods). You will pay a premium, but if you want the reliability and speed, that is the penalty you pay. If not, the samsung spinpoint was the hdd to get before the floods in terms of speed and cost:

okay and just one of these cards should be able to pretty much future proof me for awhile right?
 
Definitely not the visiontek one which is currently overpriced for a reference model. XFX one is a decent option though I would probably just save myself the money and go with the stock clocked one at $20 less and overclock it past even the black edition. I doubt they are actually binning those chips, so as usual, its really just the silicon lottery. I am also a big fan of the gigabyte cooler. Definitely go with a custom cooling solution for better cooling capacity allowing for higher overclocks as well as lower noise levels which is the biggest plus for me. The reference 7970, especially overclocked, is going to be vacuum cleaner loud.

And I am not quite seeing that 15% performance of the 7970 over the 680 frank. Not sure where you saw that at. Even the GHz edition doesn't command that kind of lead, especially at a standard res.
 
Okay thanks oh and also one more question I recently got a $200 pair of dj headphones from my dj friend and I was wondering what sound card would be the best because I'm actually starting to record music now days with a couple friends
 
There sennheisers hd 600's I think and I was Wayyy off for how much they cost they cost freakin $700 but my friend sold them to me for $100 and right now it's kinda more of a hobby but I will prob start trying to make it serious sooner or later also thanks I'll probably just get the dx
 
Also what do you mean by music quality like the quality of the music I'm making?
