Hey guys, as the title suggests, this thread is for your input on how we could help improve the jail server. Here, you can post any suggestions
you might have about the server and game play alike; not how to be a better warden or how to rebel as a T.

As it is right now, the server is in a pretty balanced state between several types of jail play.
However, this does not mean that there aren't things to be improved upon as Jail is always in a state of evolution. One or two people cannot
simply change this by themselves, so we ask of you to put your ideas here. This way, we can keep as much interest in jail as possible.

I'd like to see everyone's ideas posted here. Keep in mind though that we still want to try to avoid text based games, but if you have an idea
on how we could improve text based games, post them here and maybe we'll be able to work it into something that would allow for fun and quick
game play. You can also post suggestions for games that may not be allowed now, but that you think would make a fun game in the future. Also,
we'd like your opinions on the plugins we currently have or plugins that you would like to see added to the server and why you'd like them
added.

If you have any ideas for improvements of the rules of jail and/or concerns about current rules related to jail, let us know. As stated before,
the game play in jail is constantly changing and different points of view allow us to keep up with the changes.

Please keep this chat on topic and serious.

TEAMD wants to improve jail.

First, what I hate most in jail, freedays and it's kin. Remove freedays, sts, and hide n seek days as they are very unproductive and nothing really gets done. If people want to actually "rebel", they should learn how to actually go and kill a ct, or try to run away. I understand some people actually want to have fun and play the minigames on the map, but you usually get the CTs who go off and hide in a corner while the Ts run into the armory and get guns to kill everyone ruining it for those who try to have fun. I could go on for so long about this, but that about sums it up for this.

Second, the games we play. Not sure how many of you have seen the thread Cryptex made a while back, but it specified the ruling on games that can and cannot be played. I would hate to see even more rules limiting what we can do on the server. Anyway, I think we need to start bringing games outside of the cell block. Most Ts do not like to stare at walls all day while they play games like simon says. Let's also get some diversity in our games. For example Canyon, almost every round starts off similar to this: Leave cells, go to couch game, go to race, go to climb or do a spray contest for LR. That seems to be the average round of how Canyon goes, at least when I am there. If we can start to appreciate maps such as the newer Alcatraz, and the other maps that do not have as many minigames on it, we can possibly get that creative spark in the warden that makes jail fun. Also with less minigames on the maps, it indirectly encourages the Ts to rebel more as it gives them something to do.

I could go on for a while, but I think I will end here with my two cents.

We need players with personality! Take a note from Zappos: Create fun and a little weirdness.

I keep hearing "the old jail was better"

Well lets go back to how jail was then

also, more T armories

Firstly, lets keep this on track and actually post your ideas.

Secondly, I made a thread very similar to this one a while back and I did get some good ideas but not much was done beyond that by leadership. Whatever my ideas are for jail, I believe they aren't going to go very far passed this thread. However, I do have a very simple idea that may or not not get peoples attention and does not require leadership to enforce.

There's a lot of cool people in eGO that don't play jail any more because they 'think' it's no good but let me inform you, it's actually quite fun nowadays so what I'm saying is, just play more.

Summary: If you read this and you don't play jail often, hop in Ventrilo and the jail server and you will most likely have a good time since jail is pretty fun these days.

There are two comments I'd make:

1. What's the reason why we don't have an !lr plugin on our jail server? Personally I'm a fan of the creativity and freedom involved with custom LRs, but is there a reason why our server opts not to have it? Perhaps giving T's a choice between whether they want to use the plugin OR making up their own game could improve the variability of LRs. Could also spice up the more redundant ones, like s4s.

2. Some of the most popular jail servers have costumes for their players (correctional officers, the warden, and prisoners all have different character models); for example, the prisoners would all be in orange jumpsuits. It adds authenticity to jail, and makes it more fun and different. Could be worth looking into for our jail server.

Those are just a few ways that could improve the popularity of the server by improving the "jail experience".

For improvements/suggestions for the games played during jail, I'd also refer you to NMSniper's thread where we brainstormed ideas for the CS:GO jail server (but most of the games are applicable to CS:S as well), or to either this thread where we had some good ideas brought up, or this most recent thread also dedicated to that topic.

Reserving this space. I haven't played jail in a long time. Let me try and find some time this week to hop in and check it out, and I'll come back with my thoughts.

The last idea that I liked a lot (two servers) didn't work at all. I like playing jail with smaller groups but when we tried that idea one was always full and the other was always empty.

It's hard to come up with "server side" suggestions because a lot of what makes or breaks a jail experience is in the players. There are good and bad wardens and that's just part of how it goes.

The only suggestion I have off the top of my head is making sure there is a semi-constant map rotation to help keep the view and gameplay fresh, but you might already be doing that. And last I knew there was a great team of people constantly making great maps. I always like maps with lots of secret passages.

Also, Parvo I'm guessing on the way that you worded your initial post that one thing you guys are really looking for is if the player base wants to bring text based games (ala Trivia) back or not. I am personally thrilled that they were removed and I think they need to stay that way.

Anyways I'll stop rambling. Again, I'll find some time to hop in the server this week and check it out, and I'll come back with some actual suggestions...or I'll think things are running great and suggest no changes. Either way someone on CT will die (*cough cough* Ric *cough cough*) and it will be fun.

Excuse me, I have a small cough.

Downloading new skins might reduce the amount of people that play on the server due to waiting times. And I'm not sure how the warden one would work, as the warden is selected after the player has decided what skin they're and since skins are just reworks of previous ones I'm not sure you could change it during the game without any input of your own and staying alive throughout it.

I kinda like trivia in a way, never really played it fully as it's always been banned for me.

I agree with MEGA on that one, because many people who take warden do the same old orders over again like I do. It's difficult to be creative if we have limits on things we can and can not do. I would like to also say that Jail shouldnt have strict wardens in the beginning of the round. Sometimes the T's have either difficulty hearing the warden or when they ask for a repeat, Warden's should either repeat it or type it out, so they understand the orders perfectly.
