I am sometimes long winded with my posts and I don't know how long this one will be. For those of you who read it I sincerely thank you for your time and your company.

I can be a very disorganized person at times and this may or may not be reflected in my writing here.

I've made the decision to stop playing video games completely and entirely. I was speaking with some people and we thought it was rational and logical to just play from time to time. My fear is that this is not possible for me and any limitations I set will just become shorter and shorter.

Here is why I think this. 2 days ago I made the decision I didn't want to play games anymore. It was a rather aimless day at first but I had gotten a lot done. I applied to a multitude of jobs as my current one had slowed down significantly, I got a birthday present for my sister, I got 500 dollars richer, and I went for a run. After all that was said and done I didn't see the problem playing some games, it was a good day and the evening had just started.

Yesterday, I thought "ok I can play games after I accomplish some things". However my list of accomplishments were pretty meager considering all I really did was go for a run. While I may be wrong I am coming to the conclusion that I accomplished a lot two days prior because I had NO intentions of playing games at all period.

For those of you who can play games and balance their lives appropriately I don't seek to discourage you. For me it just seems that this isn't possible. I feel like I have a lot to accomplish and a lot to live for and if I spend my prime years playing video games it'll be a grievous loss. People like Wewo and Londonblitz who have lived their lives and accomplished things have a right to play games, but me i'm 23 and for the first year ever i've actually been alive.

I spent my earlier years medicated, smoking a pack a day, unhealthy, depressed and feeling like I was going to die. Playing video games at that stage in my life was the least of my internal struggles that I needed to fix but now it appears their time has come.

I don't know if i'll ever come back to them. Its sad for me because i'm at the stage where I think I could become really good.

I've met people here who I'd like to commend and to those who i've rubbed the wrong way i'm truly sorry.

Illmatic- Thanks for being my friend man

Gerbil- Don't treat her like a kid shes as bright as the morning star

Megs A Tagger- A heart of gold and a loveable personality. I wish you the best

Bruce Lee- Always someone to look forward playing with

Nuclear Cowboy- Thank you for always giving me the benefit of the doubt

Chilli Dude- Thanks for bringing me in and sorry if I ever disappointed

Blue Stealth- I always looked up to you and saw myself in you(sorry for the insult). I think we could have been good friends if it weren't for my own insecurities.

Suayngam- I'll miss ya

LondonBlitz- People probably wouldn't think we were friends considering we never see eye to eye on anything in public forum but I always modeled myself in your image and respected you highly.

There's likely more people I'm forgetting. I thank you all for allowing me the privilege of playing with you.

As for me i'll still be around on steam and in the forums. You'll also likely see me "playing Counter-Strike Global Offensive" as i'll still be reviewing the overwatch demo's they send me.

To those older and wiser than myself I would appreciate your input on my decision and those younger as well.

Farewell my friends

I applaud your desire for self-discipline and productivity, but please don't make the mistake of removing games from your life if they provide relaxation and stress relief.

Aimless frivolity isn't a waste when it helps the mind untangle itself from the day to day stress of being 'productive.'

I spend 12-14 hour shifts making life or death decisions and dealing with the most tangible grief, pain, and enormous egos you'll ever meet. I need to shoot the proverbial fecal matter to stay sane.

Don't wake up one day to find yourself the most productive unhappy person you've ever met.

Best wishes,

Dangle

If you feel you're life is better, do it. Good job man. If you ever decide to stop by, we will be here.

Hey there!

I think giving it at break at this point seems fair. I wouldnt quit for the rest of your life or just plan to never play again.

There is a time and place for everything.

I work full time, have a wife and a baby boy. I make my gaming time after my baby goes to bed and spending time with my wife. Family and real life needs to come first over gaming.

Relieveing stress and kicking back to game when you have free time isnt bad..

You cant forget about us! We like to spend time with ya too! :P

But honestly you have friends here and its not bad to play games and hang with them in vent or whatnot.. Just dont make your day planned out to games or around gaming.

Take care of yourself and real life and we will be here to game when you have time to game :)

See you soon bud ;)

Since you left me out, I'm not saying bye! :P
Just kidding, I hope your life takes you where you want to be! I admire you for taking charge. We'll be here if you ever want to come back. See you around, hopefully!

P.s. I'm gonna miss making fun of you. ;) <3

You'll be missed man, like everyone has stated if you ever feel like coming back we'll be here. I agree with Dangle though, games can be a nice way to debrief from the day. It's a tough call you have to make, I know how it is to say you're going to only play for an hour or two and wind up playing all day. As long as the choice you make keeps you happy, you've made the right choice.

Thx for the advice guys. Dangle you might be right but i'm not at your stage in life. There also has to be other ways to unwind that are healthier choices. I think at Nuckin's stage playing games is reasonable but even then you have a greater responsibility to be available that I am not sure I would be able to manage.

Hehe I'm sorry Mini. You're really sweet :). Thx for the best wishes and i'm still awesomer :p

Thx Dodgy :) I checked out System feat. Veela - Lights (Static Hicks Remix)
thought it was pretty dope :p

Best of luck Immortal, I still hope to see you around on the servers from time to time, I've looked up to you as an admin and as a person, I'm not sure I will ever know how the heck you got so amazing at DoD:S and there's a good chance I never will. Just stay awesome Immortal and thank you for the kind words.

Wise words Immortal, you've gone through a great venture to yourself to improve your life. Have a great time outside gaming world, you'll love the world outside, but never say never to something that has brought you joy and friends. Indeed, come to say hi to us whenever you feel like it. We'll be here.

*salute*

Life is all about balance. Set aside a time to play games, and only play during your allotted time... Im a disabled vet, so I have tons of time on my hands. Games give me a break from my own head games. Remember this word.. Moderation. That is the key to life.

Whatever you decide It has been a pleasure knowing and gaming with you.

I'm going to miss you Immortal.

Maybe hop on the forums and share what you did?

Ofcourse we'll all be there for you when you come back!

In the end, you should choose what will make you the happiest. Not much of a motivational speaker but I'll give it a shot. (Pretty disorganized myself) Up until a couple years ago I was an raging alcoholic (work all day drink all night) and it was starting to tear my life apart at the seams. My wife knew I was a mess and I could barely spend time with my own child. I ended up packing my bags, quit gaming, and moved out west to work on the oil rigs. My family means the world to me and nothing could ever take their place so I had to make change. I'm happy to say everything is great now and I hardly even look at liquor anymore. (I'm 27 now) You don't need to be doing something all day to feel like you're accomplishing things. In the run of a day now I work, spend time with my friends and family, and go for a run or workout every other day. Also picking up an instrument works wonders! You're always going to have down time and we all have boring days now and then. Like everyone else said, eGO will always be here, and I agree 100% with Dangle about them being a good stress reliever. Whatever you choose to do I wish you the best!

Bonne Chance dans ton vie, mon amie.

I can understand completely, as I also have horrible organization skills. I hope all goes well. :thumbup1:

Also, considering that i've been having more and more responsibilities, and some depression due to reduced social contact...i might stop playing games soon as well. hmm.

Anyway
bonne journee!
