Commander is just a birds eye view from up top. Not really a spectator mode.
As for a terrible commander, its part of the game. The more you use it, the better you will get at it.

So if you watch the gameplay they put on youtube you can stop someone's knife and make them stab themselves by pressing F to counter attack. Start watching around 5:37, and go frame by frame. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nJY7n8KaOY[/ame]

Yeah now the commander will be able to deploy tomahawk missiles instead of artillery and we can level China one building at a time.
I was concerned to not hear any cussing in the game thus far. Cussing adds more realism. But the idea of someone countering a knife attack is a turn off. If I'm going to take the time to walk up and stab you then you deserve to die and for anyone to be able to just quickly counter the knife attack.. why even bother knifing them anymore? Just shoot them from range and be done with it.

@hexi you can hear them bleeping out the swear words, i assume its because they are at E3 and want to seem more professional or something along those lines
What are your guys thoughts on that touch screen commander mode? Like do you think you will HAVE to have some sort of touch screen device such as Ipad, or some sort of special bf4 commander tablet or is that just a thing you could do and you could just use your normal computer as commander mode.

I think this only applies from frontal knife attacks. I doubt you should be able counter if you stabbed from behind.
@axeman I pretty sure if they have developed for Ipad it should work on PC.

All I wan't for BF4 is to be able to choose my skin color, I don't want to white or black, no I'm not racist, I just wan't skin color choice. I'm hispanic, so I would like to be able to choose a light brown or tannish color to my soldier. This would be really good for customization. You know anywhere from the whitest of the white, to the darkest of the dark. So you can actually feel like it's you.

i just don't like the idea of being killed by missile/ac130 from a person i cant kill and can do nothing about. I play engi so i can have a chance to kill anything but i cant do anything about a commander with a tomahawk. It sounds fun to me but i don't think im gonna like it

It will likely be on a fairly lengthy cool down plus id imagine with it being bf4 and all that there are different commander perks that you can choose to have so instead of having a tomahawk missile you might be able to swap that out for a second vehicle drop or some other perk to help your team, but idk.
