Cant you cycle it into/out of hard core mode? I think ego could pull off a "multi purpose" server, of course, an admin must be able to setup rules via procon (I donno what u use) for something cool like a "pistols only hard core" match.
It seems, IMO, kinda tough to justify having it the 3rd server be hard core only, it should be public sometimes so other non-members could at least get it into their history or fav-lists. If you really want to train or have a private hard core match, well, set the passwd, but, you got to keep that server open to public sometimes, in regular mode... I think that would be a good use, esp if there are peek hours when both "main" servers are full.
