Its ww2 based, the goal of regular gameplay is to either cap all the flags (capture the flag) or bomb maps, where either its first to blow up all the enemy objectives wins, or one team attacks and one defends for a set time, there are no helicopters or planes and different varieties of maps depending on what you like.
I think coming from COD Division, you'd really enjoy DoDs. Seeing that your our sister division and all. Day of defeat is most similar to call of duty, in my opinion at least. 
But anyway, you should really give us a go! Very friendly people in this division (except for me, I'm a jerk) and we have a ton of fun! Just join us in vent sometime, you'll see what I'm talking about!
Sorry to hear about you being homeless, but the DoDs division will welcome you with open arms! Wherever you choose to go, I jope you enjoy it!

I never played COD so I can't compare the two. DOD is great, but it is the people that make up the division that will make you want to be apart of this division.

ColSndrs, the DOD:S division is a great division to be a part of. (Mostly) mature members lol they can get a little rowdy sometimes. Great gameplay that will have you going for hours and active forums. I'm sorry for your loss with regards to the COD division however if you give DOD a try, I think you will like it here.
With that said, I'm sure any other division will be great as well. They all have something great to offer. Good luck in your search for a new home and we'll see you in game

Let me put it this way, I have been playing DOD for ten years and I own all copies of COD and battlefields but for some reason I ALWAYS come back to DOD. It countless hours of addicting and fun game play on our awesome servers. Then you join our vent channel and it brings in a whole other "behind the scenes" aspect to the game. We have well organized and fun events every night of the week usually. It is an easy game to pick up and you will fall in love with. You will see the similarities of COD and DOD real fast. Hope you start soon. Look out for me in our Donner server!

Having problems connecting to Steam right now. As soon as Steam helps me resolve the issue, I'll be playing.
I have followed all of the troubleshooting steps for Mac (*dons flame suit*), yet I keep getting this message: Unable to connect to server. Server may be offline or you may not connected to the internet.-102

One word... Thompson. Use that until you get to know the maps, and branch out to other weapon classes. I think the hardest thing to get used to is the recoil. Once you do, and figure out good spots to be or not be in our 5 servers, you will really enjoy it. I know I do! Add me as a friend, find me in any of our servers, i am on every day, I will help you with whatever you need.

Okay, I deleted Steam and re-downloaded it. Apparently it needed some updates. Steam is working now and I am downloading DoD:S.
Had to remove some of the wife's chick flicks to make room on the HD, but hey, it's my laptop.
Hope to be in game soon.
