looking for new gaming computer

so im looking for a new gaming computer so i can run minecraft without any lag with mods and on servers not looking to record my main mod will be ftb(feed the beast) and other games like css tf2 l4d and other steam games could use any help finding a new computer. i dont need mouse or keyboard i need monitor but i was thinking about a 24' led hdmi monitor or using my 40' tv. my mouse is razer mamba and my keyboard is the razer black widow, any help would be greatful

#1 Do you plan to build it yourself or buy from a big name manufacturer?

#2 Are you more interested in AMD or Intel?

#3 What is your price range?

#4 Are you looking to overclock or just have a simple gaming setup?

This isn't a good question to ask, because depending on the price range there will certainly be a preferable brand, since they have vastly different offerings.

Actually, it's a fine question to ask. Some people prefer one brand over the other and will go to whatever length to use only that brand. Sometimes it's silly, but it's ultimately the owner's choice.

You're right, I wasn't thinking when I posted that. It is truly silly though, because at every different price point there is often a clear winner that gives you the best bang for your buck.

-ASRock Z87 Extreme4 motherboard (really nice board)
-Ripjaws 8GB 2x4 DDR3 1600 memory. I recommend getting two sets of these for 16GB.
-Thermaltake 700 Watt PSU
-XFX Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB Graphics Card
-Rosewill Challenger Gaming PC Case. It comes with fans, but id recommend you get a couple more so your PC runs cool.

I recommend you get a 128GB SSD and a regular 500GB or 1TB hard drive. SSDs are great to have system files stored on, due to how reliable they are.

I would not buy G-Skill Ram I would go with Corsair Vengeance Pro Ram at say 2400MHz

G.Skill is amazing, and you literally won't notice the difference between DDR3 1600 and 2400. That RAM is fine.

I would definitely drop that Thermaltake for a SeaSonic, though.

Have you guys noticed that compared to 3, 5 years ago, that high-wattage PSUs that are reliable and good are actually coming down in price? Not a huge drop, but slowly dropping at least?

The upgrade from the i5-4670k to the i7-4770k is not worth it if all you're doing is gaming.
