Quick question, is reconnect allowed after dying in the first few seconds of the round? People are complaining and admins are kicking these guys from the server for reconnecting. I don't see it as a problem because it's not in the motd. Can we get this sorted out please? Thank you.

Correct me if I'm wrong, anyone, but reconnecting and respawning is considered exploiting and is dealt WKB, if I recall correctly.

EDIT: Refer to this link: http://www.edge-gamers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=268158

(I would copy/paste the answer posted in the above link for the e's but wasn't sure if I should since it's in Administrative forums)

You are not allowed to live twice in a round it can also allow players to cheat their points in some instances. Should give them fair warning and ensure they know that it's not allowed.

Use the Admin help page here: http://www.edge-gamers.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=733 next time for any admin questions to get quick concise responses :)

Is there any way to add a plug-in to the server to stop this? Or will this lag the server out?

I'll look into this. Thanks

What's there to look into?

Been looked into multiple times before EG:

Remember a decision being made no plugin can be added since there needs to be an available time for new players to join and spawn etc and the answer ended up the same with this question all the time.

ExOHs got it.
This has been discussed many times before. We can't possibly have each specific rule in the MOTD, but just because it isn't in the MOTD doesn't mean we don't enforce it.
Past discussions or precedents on most of the rules people are iffy about can be found on the admin parts of the forums.

I do not know if such a plugin exists or if it's even possible. Maybe there is a way that when a person disconnects, they can't join back for lets say 30 seconds or a minute. That would work for those who complain that players reconnect and such. And as said above, although it's not in the MOTD, it doesn't mean ego doesn't enforce it. ExOH has it on the spot honestly. But we shall see what Ric comes back with.

The reason we don't do this is to allow people that join the server a little late after a new round starts the change to spawn in and play. No one wants to sit there and spectate an entire round from beginning to end after joining a server.

There is a plugin, but as Exoh said it's been discussed and the plugin (or at-least the one I have seen) wouldn't let people that join late to join when they normally could.

I understand that, I do. But if we are worried about players disconnecting and reconnecting right off the bat, there's not much you can do about it, except kick/ban those players that do so. If needed, might as well input it in the MOTD and enforce it as well. Cause most players will look at the MOTD if you threaten to take action because they disconnect/reconnect. And since it isn't in the MOTD, they will find a reason to fight it.

The way I see it, it would fall in line with one or both of these:

4. No cheating, cheat scripts, barrier jumping, map exploits or hacks of any kind.

12. Do not disrupt the server in any way.

The first one because it is a exploit, and the 2nd one because it causes a unfair advantage if they are able to respawn.

CS Leadership has made the decision that you should not be trying to look for people reconnecting for a second life. We are all here to play on the severs and have fun. One player reconnecting to get a second life isn't disrupting the server in any way, it's not causing other people to leave, and it is also keeping that player on our server. The only time you are expected to act upon this is if this is impacting the server in a negative way, such as mass decrease in population, or if it is hinder other players from enjoying the game. Only if it violates one of those criteria should you handle this as a standard w/k/b.

Remember, we are here to play first and admin second. And with that, I am going to lock this thread. If you have any additional questions please contact myself or any other member of CS Leadership.
