That's a gorgeous picture, Moose. But may I suggest you crop out the information sign?

Thanks Thor. :) Never really thought it a big enough deal to need to, but if my plans for this summer go through, I may want to. :)

OMG, dazzling photos guys!!!!
Moose, you're lucky, like i said i was in Monterey at night, and i did not get any of that great scenery..

Lol! When I first took that picture I thought it was hilarious. But now that he's dead it kind of hurts to look at it... It's a wonder how much impact dogs can have on you.

And @ Moose.
Oooh, are you thinking of having a show or getting a job as a photographer? I've applied to take photos for my Uni's newspaper but they think I'm too landscapey...

Actually "testing the waters", so to speak. Going to enter a couple in the county fair (those are actually a big deal out where I'm from) and see how they turn out. If they do well...who knows. ;)

hahahahahahahahahaha lol!!!!

i wanna adopt him!!

I'm still looking for this picture! It's amazing.

I guess I'll just explain it...

So my father and I were driving through Iowa (Me pops was driving and I was in the passenger seat) and it was getting towards dusk, so there was a beautiful sunset on the horizon. With the works, red horizon merging into a dark blue sky on the other horizon.

Anyway, on a field we saw one of those giant wind power generators, but with the light it just looked like a silhouette. Gorgeous it was...

I love take pictures. My first classes were totally pre-digital. I do miss the dark room. I lost most of my equipment and a lot of my films and slides in H. Katrina. I have since gone digital and absolutely love the freedom it gives me.
I love the landscapes and other photos everyone has posted, but I don't think that my skills can ever do landscapes justice. I'm a graphic designer, so composition and pictures that tell a story are what I tend to shoot.
Here are just a couple of my faves:

"Generations"
generationsMedium.jpg

Great Grandfather with Great Grandson walking on the old family farm. I was walking behind them with the intention of taking picutures of the barn, but this seemed too perfect of an opportunity. This one actually makes a little sad with the idea that one day that barn will be gone and the land will probably be sold to build a subdivision or a mall and how important moments like these are.

"Pastime"
pasttimeMedium.jpg

Spawn of Nurple at his first t-ball game. I just love how the setting sunlight was hitting him and the contrast of the dark blue with the green field. In a weird way this picture also makes me want to be there at this moment, it seems so quiet and warm and yet there is a little sense of excitement as well.

Thanks for making this thread. It's really neat to see other people's work. :)

All right, here's a few that I don't think I've posted anywhere else. I still think I need lots of practice at this, but .. I'm getting better.

My daughter, Zoe.

My son, Harry, in a hole. Don't ask.

Harry on the first day riding his new bike. He was thrilled, as you can see.

Twigs. I like the depth in this one.

Harry in a field. He's like that.

I have to comment specifically on that rocky mountain trail pic, Flippy...the contrast of colors is mesmerizing.

Totally agreed. The picture makes me want to go there.

Thanks. All I did was turn the shutter speed way up so that not as much light go into the camera, and I got a whole series of awesome pictures.

It was a nice trip up to Sandia Crest with the ravishing Mrs. Squirrel on a day when the top of the mountain was enveloped in clouds, so we got some really stunning shots. Here's a link to more of them. (Mrs. Squirrel also has a folder full of the photos SHE took that day.)
