I cant believe I didnt find this thread before!

I love photography, and taking pictures, and I am especially fond of taking landscape/skyscape type photos.

A disclaimer before I start, I shoot digital and I process ALL of my photos. But to some of you that say that processing photos is cheating, I say photo processing is just a tool of the trade. Think of it as similar to developing a photo in a darkroom. Some of my techniques include HDR and otherwise extreme adjustments to levels and contrast and the like, but I try not to take it overboard.

Ill post a short description of processing involved and let you judge for yourself.

Here is a small sampling of some of my work, I havent been out in a long time and need to get out again, but there is more where these came from, and if you like I can post a link to my deviant art page.

This was taken in atlanta back in january of 2006.
This was processed as a single shot HDR then tone mapped in Photomatix with a curves adjustment in photoshop and some layering techniques applied to adjust for brightness levels in different areas of the photo.

This was taken near Luray, VA
This was a 30 second exposure, curves and levels were adjusted in photoshop and a noise filter run through to eliminate long exposure noise.

Also taken in Atlanta.
This one had minimal processing applied. I may have used a gradient map, overlayed on the image to serve as a photo filter. Basic level and curves adjustments.

One last one for now...

Taken outside of Baltimore in Catonsville.
20 second exposure, levels and curves adjustments on individual color channels.

I will be back with more!

Mustachio and jetta...amazing photos...truly breathtaking. I still need to sift through my photobucket and pick a couple of my favorites...but the next couple weeks are going to be crazy, so it will have to wait.

Looks like we need a bump here... was going to wait before posting anymore images, but I will now so we can get this back up front

.... still working up to some of my better ones to come

This I think was a 7 shot HDR merge done through photoshop. Levels and contrast adjustments afterwards.

This shot was me being stupid... I had a tripod sitting in my car about 5 feet away from me, but forgot. I handheld about 30 shots and only this one came out sharp, well sharp enough as it was still a tad blurry at full resolution. Level adjustments on the individual color channels and maybe some additional minor tweaking.

This shot was taken in 2002 with my Rebel G 35mm camera. This is somewhere in switzerland in case you are wondering. This was scanned from a printed photo, then lightly touched up.

Also, in case you cant tell, i like adding borders to my photos, as I feel it helps to frame them for my deviant art gallery.

As with last time, I will be back with more, but these are some of my earlier photos, and my shooting and editing style has changed a bit since then.

Wow, Mustachio, the last one looks like it`s taken straight from a fantasy movie ^^

I just ordered a slide/film scanner. I love shooting film/slides, more so than digital, so i can keep doing that. When i get it i will up some.

I know people who also love film more than digital, not only for the unique look you get on film or slides, but also for the actual processing of the film. I like digital mainly for the freedom it gives me to shoot and shoot and shoot, and not worry about running out of film or processing costs.

Yes, it is cheap. And it is good. But even the sound my shutter make on my Canon Elan 7NE is so much better than digital. Color is almost equal to digital, but black and white chemistry cannot be reproduced on digital. There is a plan to print digital on photosensitive paper just like in the darkroom.

Also when it comes to view cameras if you had an 80 mega pixel camera you still get better resolution from a 4x5 film. So film still has some reign in certain domains.

Well, figured ide post up another batch of shots, i dont count these as among my greatest, but thought they would do well in here anyways.

Camera was tripod mounted, probably 15-30 second exposure. Might have run a noise filter over this one, and probably did levels and contrast edits.

Unfortunately, the quality of this shot has suffered. I was unable to use a tripod to take it (again probably a 30 second exposure) and the quality of the print and the scan were not very good. This was taken over Lake Como in Italy. Minimal processing was done on this shot.

Well, i think those two are enough for now, I will be back again at some point with more.

i forgot about this thread - what a great idea this was - thanks moose :)

I use a Canon Powershot S2 IS. I know it's old but it still gets the job done

These pics were taken last night at the Houston Astros game.
