Please note before reading this, that jail is all about having fun. The long round times mean a T would have to be waiting a long time if he was killed for almost no reason, so try and be lenient with the prisoners if you are playing as a guard.

Below are a few things that were clarified for the admins. Hopefully, this will reduce the general questions/confusions that arise in the jail server over particular rules.

Edit: If you do come up with some frequently asked questions from jail please ask them in this thread. I'll consult with the other ATs and leadership and update the thread as required.

Cheating when the warden never said no cheating
  • The warden can't say no cheating after the game is already in progress.
  • When the warden does something like a race between two defined locations, the Ts can start whenever they want, even before the Warden types the command to go.
  • If the warden is beginning the game and says "no cheating, only begin when I type go," and then proceeds to type start, begin, proceed, etc. and the t's begin to play the game, they are rebelling and may be shot.
  • The Ts may begin the game on words that are clearly typos (goh, bo, gp, etc)
  • On a game that the warden creates, like last reaction, simply not jumping is no longer a valid way to win. The Ts must have participated in the game.
  • Any rules he gives for a game can be violated by cheating
  • If he does say no cheating, obviously you can't start early or otherwise cheat in the game.

Special Days
  • On freedays the CTs must be actively with the Ts.
  • Guarding the armory out of sight of the Ts or hiding in heal, etc, are not allowed. You should be watching the Ts/hunting down rebellers.
  • If nobody takes warden at the beginning of the round or no orders are given, it's assumed to be a freeday until orders are given. If it lasts for an extended period of time(use common sense), or the full round, then this would count against the 1 special day per 4 round rule.
  • Nobody should be taking warden and refusing to give orders to force a freeday.
  • On a warday, if a T escapes through a vent and actively tries to hamper your ability to get to the warday area before cells are even opened, they can be killed.
  • After the cells are open, the CTs should already have been in the warday area.

Other stuff
  • Bhopping/running towards the CTs when told to crouch walk isn't allowed.
  • General jumping is allowed, but you obviously should not be jumping towards the CTs or something.
  • Saying and typing go are only the same thing for general movement commands.
  • If the warden is starting a game and has declared that you cannot cheat, then you must wait for the command in text if he specified that he will be typing it.
  • If the warden is moving The Ts place to place by crouch walking, and then gives the order to freeze, the Ts are not required to stand up
  • They may stand up on movement orders when told to freeze, but if they choose to stay crouched then the CTs would have to order them to stand up
  • This does not apply in the context of games.
  • When the order is to take one step out of your cell, be mindful that the Ts cannot see their own feet to have a good judge of what one step actually is.
  • Being knifing distance away from the cell is a good rule of thumb
  • Obviously they should not run halfway across the room, but if they are a few inches(use your common sense) past what you think 1 step is, let it go.

  • NEW
  • When playing a game that is played 1 T at a time, the losing Ts should not be killed until enough winners have been taken so that the 66% rule will not be violated.
  • An example of this is the garden to box jump on canyon. The Ts should not be killed immediately (if possible for the warden to prevent it), as it is possible for the amount of losers to break the 66% rule.
  • If there were 7 participants, and the first 4 failed and were killed, you would have to end the game even though the last 3 never actually played in order to not violate the 66% rule.
  • When doing leap of faith on canyon, there isn't really a way to prevent the participants from surviving should they fail the jump so it does not apply to this game or an equivalent game in which the warden has no control over their deaths.

Obligatory "this is a guideline, don't be using it to abuse the prisoners or something."

What if the warden says "when i type go" to initiate a race, and then proceeds to say go over mic multiple times throughout his explanation. When I'm warden people start the race or game when I do this, and then complain about free kills if I shoot them. I don't think typing and saying should be the same thing.

Typing and Saying "go", as a movement command, are the same thing.

As Helpless mentioned, typing and saying go are only the same thing in regards to movement commands. In relation to games, it is considering cheating and the T must wait for the text "go" to begin.

Could you also add how you can be crouched and frozen at the same time, still see a lot people unaware of this

Thanks for clarifying. Thought it was applied overall.

But frozen also means afk freeze. Which you shouldnt be using wasd/jumping/crouching.

If the warden gave the order to crouch walk to a location (as a movement command), and then during that order he commands the Ts to freeze, they are not required to stand up as long as they remain frozen while crouched AND were crouched when the order was given. They can stand up, but they are not required to if those conditions were met.
