Do you like melee?

Do you like to melee? I don't mean melee-only, sure it's fun and all but many players always get angry or whatever and switch to their weapons again and hunt you down. I don't really have a problem with that, really. But I often hear complains about melee. I just can't understand why someone would complain about that. It's just another way to kill someone. The best thing is, however, when someone else agrees to a fair melee fight but than shoots you or complains. I really love my wrench/bat/whatever and really like to use them. What do you think about melee?

I like to kill someone with a melee weapon, but I don't enjoy all-out melee fights only. They always get boring.

If you want a fight, try a sentry war. Those are fun.

I enjoy getting an impossible kill with a melee, more than actually using it... Something about a medic running behind and bone-sawing 3 heavies I can't resist...

Sometimes, the best way to kill a scout is to switch to shovel and slap him down mid jump.

Lafin, kind of like swatting a fly? I love melee, especially for revenge. I'm not stellar at it, though, so you'll most often see me with a ranged weapon out.

For some classes it really is necessary. I feel like a Sniper's machete is a much better close range weapon than his smg; I mean, if you are actually within melee range.

As a Sniper, my SMG is woefully underpowered, so the Machete really is my best option when a Spy or Scout try to get up in my face. Last night I dropped off the deck on 2Fort behind a Heavy/Med and Soldier and followed them into our front door dropping all 3 with the Machete. If I'd tried that with the SMG I would've been laughed right into my grave.

I like melee kills, I hate melee deaths and melee only.

The SMG is actually really good if you're accurate with it. But you really have to get most of that first clip into the enemy for you to survive reloading.

I get a lot of shovel kills, my playstyle as a soldier usually gets me pretty close to the enemy so when I've expended my 4 shots I'll often shovel it instead of shotgun.

I always pull out my shovel or axe if someone is running to me from far away, sort of as a challenge for them. Not many people accept though.

But it's SO worth it.

I think it is even more humilating when somebody owns you with a melee weapon instead of just a "normal way of killing". That's one of my reasons for meleeing. If they don't like it or like to get killed by it they get angry. Most of the players I met play worse when they are angry (myself included ). So it is helpful when they are angry. Ofcourse I'm not offensive or anything. Sometimes I just say a nice but evil "Bonk'd!". Now I think it's a bit... well EVIL!
Oh how I love mindgames xD (even though I suck at using them effectfully).
I guess it can be really annoying when you get dominated by someone who is just using melee weapons instead his guns, not using the full potential of the class.

All in all I think it is very funny to just use your melee weapon sometimes.

Finally! I just waited to long to find someone else that thinks that the Wrench is the best weapon ever, just like me. Nothing beats the awesomeness(...) of my beloved wrench. I mean... Do you know any other weapon that can build full automatic gun turrets by just banging a piece of metal? No? Didn't think so.

When i use melee, it is because i've challenged somebody to a fight at a certain spot or because i have no choice ( since i play medic and the bonesaw is better than the needle gun) Melee fights are always more entertaining because medics stand more of a chance
