Language Policy

I've been here a long time. Family first. If what you say offends me, or those in a server I am watching, I will be hard pressed to get over it.

That being said, these are the new rules, so follow them we shall.

Leaning towards no, really weird seeing admins swear in-server. Otherwise it wouldn't really matter to me

IMO, I felt that the old rule was fine. I would have rather seen a policy where ban duration was limited to a few hours. But in the end, you gotta change with the times. I might not fully agree, but I'll roll with the changes.

i personally think the swearing should NOT be allowed in games such as Minecraft BUT, it's 2016 guys. Swearing is part of life now so we need to get over it.

Im indifferent. Still cringe when I see/hear swears but... Its kinda like your mom swearing. You know its okay but it feels so wrong lol.

I came here largely on the strength of the no-swearing rule. It was also the main reason I signed the COPPA for my kids to play here. Minecraft isn't usually Swear Central, and I'm not anticipating it will become so, but EGO is on probation at our house now.

Swearing is "part of life", but so is porn and cheating and disrespect. EGO was so great to me precisely because it bucked those "everybody does it" things. It leaves me wondering what rule will be the next one relaxed so EGO can "get with the times".

I don't agree with the new rule but will follow it. I often play with speakers instead of headset and wont now because I have children I don't want hearing it. A family server is what I signed on for...

As far as my feelings, this day and age people swear non stop, especially the younger crowd, something we really can not control. Excessive, literally nonstop swearing should be as follows w/k/b or depending on how much they swear in a period k/b. As far as No disrespect tolerated, and the use of any racist, sexist or homophobic term. Should be kicked/banned on the spot, no need for those kind of words at all to begin with, also goes along the lines of disrespecting people. Something to think about is, even though its a community or family setup, still have to figure how it will pan out with incoming people vrs the people who leave. Either way, my feelings on the subject is ----> No disrespect tolerated, and the use of any racist, sexist or homophobic term. Should be kicked/banned on the spot, no need for those kind of words at all to begin with, also goes along the lines of disrespecting people. Bottom line for me.

I have mixed feelings about it, but I lean more towards disagreement. It creates a new dynamic in judging whether some text based phrases is casual banter between friends or actual disrespect. However, I will agree that the eGO servers are very different from when I began playing on them.
