When someone AFK it was a waste of time, i have seen some of them were AFK for like 20 min or even more :sneaky2:, we need to do something like automatic kick out after 5 min AFK,

Plus it waste of time when people are trying to get in the server also Spec as well, i just dont understand what the heck going on

Do u have any idea something new about AFK and spec should stay less 5 min for example if they need going to bathroom or get a drink that is reasonable time???

Also What about map changing after 4 wins I mean if axis won 4 a row then map change

I wish valve make new DOD like CSGO have

Generally "AFK Watch" is negated to the admin on-server- if the server is >50% full, general rule is to get them out as soon as possible to reduce the queue to the server.

'Reasonable time'- again, hard to judge. General rule of thumb is 5-10mins, also with consideration for server traffic/popularity at that time.

Map-changing. That's what rotation-server was for. All other servers remain the same map.

New DoD: Something along the lines of Days of War/Day of Infamy.

This is bang on. Unlike some other games, we do not have an AFK manager plugin (Although Stealthgus was looking into this for us, so we may see this happen at some point). If you're finding there are a ton of AFK players and it is causing issues, come onto Teamspeak and let an admin know, someone will drop by when they can and help out. Sometimes admins are on the opposite team and don't know either. Utilize admin chat (Use @ in team chat) to let them know and they will do their best to get to it :)

This has been a problem for a long time id imagine. I've only been with eGO for a few years and id agree with you, it is a big problem. Especially in AVA. Though, its not one you can easily fix. People will always be going 'AFK' for whatever reason. Some people may HAVE to go do something, others are just chronic AFK'rs it seems. lol.

I always try my best to stay on top of it in AVA as it seems that some regular admins dont, well... Admin. Maybe they don't notice, or maybe they just gave up lol.

What i do is Warn the player(s) and ill go spec a few other players in the meantime. Once they have been killed and respawn ill go back to the AFK'r, and if still AFK they get the boot. Usually 3-5 minutes.

Unless an automatic AFK kick time is implemented thats really all we can do. Admins be vigilant! :D

If they are afk and you do not have the power to kick then let a G or O know and they can kick them. If there are none on the server get in TS and let someone know. There is almost always someone with the power to do So on there. So do not just sit there and get mad at people being afk. Be proactive and do your part to fix the situation. We give you all the power and the mutiple resources to handle situations like this with ease.

I try to watch for this when I'm in a server and also the specs if server is full -but yes it would be nice if something was more automatic

There are usually eGO users in the DODs channel that you can report to.

The biggest challenge for me is when the AFK is on the other team and people don't report. Perhaps we can add in our server messages to report AFK to admin using "@"?

An auto kick may not be any good as admins monitor the situation and allow players to do thing like join ego in game, nip into the toilet or some other thing. As an admin I get involved in the game and miss the odd afk, but my steam friends in game call me if it goes to long. This is acceptable for me and I do my best to keep the game flowing. But some advice I give to all players including pub's is put a couple of admins in your steam friends that is good.

Ya that is a good point London... A user could appear AFK but they might be recording a demo for a ban request.

However, as a auto AFK management system may be an issue, setting it to like 20 minutes AFK would seem fair, but it seems it's the same culprits every time. Not sure why, but to each his own.

If they are recording a demo and did not alert an admin or respond to AFK warnings and are kicked... well thats on them. Good points from london yes. And im not sure a 20 minute would even be worth it. Maybe if NO admins are on at all for a lengthy time.

Just about any Source based game Admin will know how to come in and help out from my experience. Just get on TS and ask for haalp.

My approach is if the server is 50-75% full and I have private admin chat open with the player asking "are you there?" I play until my death. Look for player and as again. If I get no response I move to spec. This allows to maintain the balance of the teams.

However... if the server is 75- 100% full. I warn, play, die, warn, play die, kick. 9 times out of 10 they come right back in say. "YO I WAS JUST PEEIN" I try to be careful with kicking them for being AFK because it will annoy people especially if they have a restricted class but, at the end of the day you could just say brb, join spec or say brb, then hide.

Pro tip - If you are recording a demo or AFK for a short while and want to avoid being kicked message the admins on the server using admin chat.

If we had auto-kick on in our dod servers and you are the only admin on then you are completely buggered as you cant do much in spec or afk. I am very often the only admin on for an hour or more and some time I enter the sever and we have admins and pubs seeding in which case they would be kicked and the server would appear half empty. I think it is the case of the lesser of the two evil's.

Common sense prevails all other options.

Communication and awareness are key- given the admin himself is playing an active role when/where necessary.

Im glad there is 3 of admin in it, virus was sitting afk for quite long time i ask him to move on and do nothing and dutchwolf got him kick out :)

I generally follow this rule:

If the server is completely full (31 to 32 players), I'll first warn players with a message, then watch them to 2-3 of my respawns. If they don't move, I'll kick them with a "server full, plz rejoin" message.

If the server is reasonably full (24 to 30 players), I'll warn then move people to spec. If they're still there about 5-10 minutes, then I'll kick.

If there are less than 24 players, I'm okay with leaving them in spec.

I'm more diligent about players in restricted classes though, if there are no free spots (i.e. 1 sniper AFK, one sniper actively playing). I'll move more quickly.

Im sick of death seeing some people doing AFK more over 5-20 min :cursing::cursing::cursing::cursing: im sick of it
