Counter-Strike Global Offensive TTT Server Silent Day Voting

Some people may have already experienced this before but I would like to make this an official thing for people to do. Start votes to make one round in TTT a silent day where everyone is has there mic muted.

This would be like RTV where players decide if they want one.

It would be an interesting concept to try, but I don't think it would be that successful. People would get agitated since most people very much love using mics (especially on TTT). I would be about trying it though.

We have tried it occasionally, Mayhem. It's something we've done when you have 25+ people on and everyones talking/screaming constantly. People can still type in chat and us admins can still manage rdms pretty well ( I usually sit in spectate and enjoy the silence while watching the round play out.)

The issue with doing something like this is that people HATE being muted. TTT is an RP server, and in muting everyone, you ruin that experience. As soon as you unmute them, they will start screaming once again, not only about the round going on currently but previously in the muted round as well. it just doesn't work.


It gets annoying, i get that. But admins here have all the tools to deal with people constantly spamming the mic. If isolated people are constantly screaming into their mic during game, even if its good information, feel free to mute them, and tell them to knock it off. But dont punish everyone for a few errant people. Yes, there are times when muting everyone is appropriate if a situation is getting out of control, but that should be the only time you do such a thing.

I'm not gonna lie here, I've been mulling around the idea to mute dead people, just to give a little bit of a grace/quiet period. However, on servers that i see this happening, as soon as the fresh round starts, everyone feels the need to speak their mind about the round, and it just makes things that much worse.

The past three times I've been on when it was done it was a general consensus of the whole server wanting the silent day and no one complained afterwards. It would just have to be tested more with different people to get more diverse reactions.

Its not necessarily them complaining, but its the backfiring of doing it. From the times i have had to settle down a server by muting everyone, it never works. They begin to once again constantly talk on the mic, except this time, everyone has something to say at the same time, and it makes it that much worse.

What needs to be done is to just be more strict with people talking on the mic. If they arent doing any harm, talking sporatically and giving good information, thats fine. But if someone seems to never let go of their mic button, or they feel the need to scream when calling out KoS, just mute them and admin them appropriately. Ive been starting to become ALOT less lenient on people who decide to micspam, partly because I myself am getting sick of it, but mostly because others are as well, and its chasing people out of the server. As soon as you begin to get 20+ people into the server, it becomes hectic. but i dont want to see population loss because one or two people decide that its okay to hold their mic button down all the time. voice chat should stick to being relevant to the game at hand. Small-talk is fine, but any topics that are outside of ttt should honestly be kept in text chat, or be discussed elsewhere.

We should never have to resort to muting everyone in the first place, and thats my major problem with this. Us as Admins should be able to keep things civil in the server, without having to resort to such drastic measures.

Fair enough. It does seem like a decent idea to have, it just seems a bit... unnecessary more than anything. There shouldnt really be a situation that would deem that worthy of being put to use, and honestly, if people wanted it quiet, they can just voice_enable 0 and call it good. Definitely times i wish i could do the same lol.
