Depending on what you're upgrading from, the Logitech G-Pro could be an excellent choice -- it's a bit more than $40 as it is $53 on Amazon right now though if you are willing to pay that much, I would say it is worth it. It's lightweight, it doesn't cap at 50,000 DPI for god knows what reason, it isn't more useful as a glowstick than a mouse intended for gaming and most importantly it has one of the best laser sensors among the high-end mice of today's market

There are arguably better mice to use if you play a lot of MMOs but this one is great for gaming in general. I can recommend some cheaper mice or some models that might be more suited to your favorite genre though so let me know what you think!

According to the Best Buy site the G Pro is on sale for the same price online so I think they should sell it for the same price in-store. Failing that BB will price match online sales, even even off Amazon and even in store so you should be able to get it for the same price -- maybe call them first to see if it's on sale for that price at your local store and if they claim it isn't for some reason, just print the Amazon ad and bring it in and they have to match it

The new steelseries Rival and Sensei 310 mice show alot of promise. They both run $59.99 which is higher than your budget. I, being loyal to Logitech am contemplating switching to one of those. But the way Logitech's customer service is would make the switch a tough decision. No peripheral companies customer service matches Logitech's
^Agreed! The Rival and Sensei are also really great choices! They use sensors that are as good as (or possibly better than) the G-Pro's actually. IMO I would see what your local Best Buy and MicroCenter carry and see which of those you like best and what one is the most bang for your buck -- it is possible that Best Buy might be willing to let you try one or all of them on a display computer if they have any showcase models lying around
