Tikkun Olam

Ok, so I've been pretty aggressive lately with my mission to get rapers and griefers banned for a week at least. I've said so in-game, and I'm doing it because these little pricks ruin the game as much as any AFK.

I've just learned that in order for rapers/griefers to get a warning ban an admin must be present to administer a warning, then a kick, then a ban. Of course, the problem lies in the fact that admins aren't always around, and TS3 has never been a solution for me. Lots of admins, but generally nobody for BFBC2.

My experience has been that the worst griefers and rapers come to the server for the express purpose of stirring the pot. When they come in pairs with standings in the 2000+ range and they've only been on the ego servers a couple of times, yet they have excellent skills, it leads me to believe they're veteran players creating new personas in order to be pains in the butt, not because they're not familiar with the rules here.

I recently posted 3 ban requests including video (which is the only way I report it now) to which I received the response (from someone in leadership named skyjacker4 who, to be honest, I've never seen ingame or in forums before) "Ban is Denied at this time. Player has only played on our server 2 times and may not be aware of our rules. We must use W/K/B system for situations like this."

I'm not an admin, but I like to help and I love the game when it's not polluted with crap-disturbers. I understand how I probably seem pushy when I do things admins should do, and that I can sometimes annoy the higher-ups...it wouldn't be the first time for me here...but if we can't even get a 3-day temp ban on these guys, ignorant of the rules or not, it's not worth the time and effort.

Do you not understand "at this time"? If they continue to break the server rules you can request a ban in the future. We try to give all players the benefit of the doubt in these matters, but if they continue to break the rules they will be banned.

I understand a lot of thing jtipton, and I understand you're a condescending yet sensitive person that doesn't like uppity folks....isn't that right? That's the problem we had before, isn't it. As soon as someone gets in your face, you go the "I'm the boss so shut up" route.

Yep, I understand all too well.

Posting ban requests was a waste of my time, and so are you.

Just as another admin in this division, I read the ban requests and chat logs. You must warn, player must be kicked, and then player can be temp banned/banned. Its the rule all of us admins go by.

do you have teamspeak? Join us on our teamspeak server and grab an admin. Anyone with tags that are eG or EGO or advisor in the battlefield channel. We will all gladly help.

On a side note, please be nice to us and other admins. We don't have feelings, or at least I don't, but will still help. You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.

I was about to recommend that we train him for eG, but then he had to go there.... True colors shining through.

Hahaha!! My "colours" have been right out there for all to see, first and foremost. Are you suggesting that I have behaved any differently now than the first time I logged in years ago....or that I'm not drawing on my experience as an "eGO"? Was my initial post rude, or are you just talking about my little thing with tipton? Or perhaps you don't think my posts have been appropriate and professional?

Just askin'....

Okay, here's when I have to log in and throw in my two cents.

I'm no longer an eGO member, but I was for 8 years. I still check in from time to time, and then I come across this post.

If you want to come to the forums to act rude and passively aggressive, call the division leader a waste of time and condescending, and disrespect Artimus, one of the founders of eGO, don't expect for anybody to give you any sympathy. After 8 years of eGO, I know that your attitude and your approach isn't going to get you very far at all. If you honestly think coming to the forums and giving attitude is going to help you, you're dead wrong. Do you know how many people I've seen do exactly what you're doing right now? Plenty.

You come to the forums and complain, yet you haven't even bothered to log into TS and find an admin that has BC2 to help you. And trust me, there's a lot of admins that have the game, and would happily go take care of whatever rules were being broke. Sure, sometimes you can't find one, so you file a ban request instead. Ever heard of that?

Request a ban. Provide video, screenshots, ask the admins to view the logs, whatever. But don't you come to the forums and disrespect everybody here that is trying to answer you because you're trying to be some pompous wannabe admin. Take the effort you took to disrespect the people above while typing your imbecilic rant, and head to Teamspeak to find an admin. If you put in that much effort to find an admin as you did here complaining, you would have found one. Guaranteed.

Teamspeak is a waste of your time, filing a ban request is a waste of your time, yada yada. In that case, what are you even doing here? Why are you complaining? You've already ruled out the only options you have, so what exactly are you looking to accomplish?

eGO has ALWAYS had a W/K/B policy. When I joined 8 years ago, the policy was the exact same. In the end, if you have such a huge problem with the way eGO does things, here's a simple solution: Stop playing on eGO servers. I mean, wow. Who would have thought of that?!

Lastly, jtipton is a great person. For you to come here and disrespect him the way you did, I hope you keep pushing and earn YOURSELF a ban.

You guys, I know I'm new here, but I think all of you are blowing this way out of proportion. Tikkun is one of the nicest people I've seen on the bfbc2 server. And while he did start the post expressing frustration, the very first comment was condescending. Rules are rules, and I'm fine with w/k/b. I didn't know until I got a warning years ago, heck I've even been kicked because at one point I felt like no one else follows the rules on this server, so why should I?

Though the server is a lot more fun when everybody playing is respecting the rules, though that's difficult when there's no admin. I feel like I see them less and less, and it gets more and more frustrating every day that passes without them. Especially on the weekends, which is when Tikkun plays.

You guys are putting him down for not speaking politely in this thread, but I wouldn't exactly call the other posts as polite either. You've got a player who's frustrated with the lack of control on the server, who's going out of his way to try and make it better, and feeling like it's all for nothing. And from what it looks like, it has been for nothing. I'm not blaming anyone at ego, especially active admin, but the truth is the bfbc2 server is taking a turn for the worst.

Maybe instead of the first response being "don't you understand ..." a better response could have been more along the lines of what O orbofdeath wrote. I'm not condoning Tikun's further responses, but I'm having a hard time seeing a strong distinction between the way he's talking and the way almost every one else is.

"I was about to recommend that we train him for eG, but then he had to go there.... True colors shining through." <- that is just unnecessary, it didn't add anything productive to the conversation and just fueled the fire. If he's not fit for admin, then don't make him one. What was the point of rubbing his nose in it?

Any way, the only reason I revisited this post was to let Tikun know that I made a successful ban request, and that his efforts aren't totally hopless. I wanted him to know that his efforts are appreciated, and though they didn't work out for those specific players, it's still worth the effort. I came with the express purpose of encouraging him to continue to help make the bfbc2 server better. Though after these other responses, I'll be surprised to ever see him again. Which is a shame, because my experience has been that he's liked and respected among the community on the bfbc2 server.

hi all...i'm using this open thread for ask about my kick/ban from BBC2 server.
I did not think to appeal the ban....just want to know for how long?

Hey AzulRey,

This is the blind leading the blind, but I would go to Help->Ban Contest and fill out the form as best you can. Someone should reply to you giving you anymore info that you need.

AzulRey was given an ingame tban earlier today by another admin.
It will end 24 hours after his ban.

Skaman, I can't express how it made me feel when you spoke in my defense. I thank you.

What I'm going to say here is for the benefit of Redhat: You don't know me, you haven't played with me, and you don't know my history either with Jtipton or with eGO. I was an admin for about a year until I came across an issue that I couldn't deal with. Many times I took it to leadership and kept my mouth shut in open forums. The issue is the mandatory permanent ban, without warning, without any w/k/b for using the "N" word or any of its variants. To me, a slur is a slur and how damaging it is is directly tied to your point of view, and mandatory minimums teach absolutely nothing. You can't learn if they slam and lock a door in your face. In the end, it was my surprise demotion to eG (y'know, without warning) that made me leave...with prejudice. It's only Jtipton that I've every had issue with here, plus my unfortunate blow-out at Dark Raven - which he didn't really deserve. It was a year before I came back. I don't really need to point out that you went on a big rant without knowing ANYTHING about me. Not a thing.

Artimus, I was being mouthy, but disrespect wasn't part of the equation. I hope you see that. I apologise if you think it was anything but me blowing off.

Lastly, I don't see how my initial post in this thread was rude, obnoxious, or in any way disrespectful. You'll need to show me, but you can probably guess which post I think was the first to throw attitude into the mix.

Glad you told me we had a problem in the past. I do not recall it. Thank you for giving me the authority to demote someone without discussing the reasons with BF Leadership, something I have never done and will not do. You seem to know a lot about me and how I feel about things and do things, however I believe your facts are off a great deal. If you want to talk, catch me in TS, or continue to slander me in the forums. Your choice.

G'Day Folks.

I do agree with ShaMan814 that Tikkun is a very nice person that I had the privilege to play together with many times. Even though Tikkun gone little too far emotionally by the uncontrolled approach towards jtipton (#3), I still think Tikkun is a good person that have a very good point in his initial post (#1).

I have been away from the EGO BFBC2 HM server for some time now mostly for the reason that there are way too many that seems to be in the server just to brake the server rules and by that disrespect Edge-Gamers and their members.
It's so sad and frustrating for the regular players in EGO BFBC2 HM to be exposed to this anarchistic behaviour of those rule braking players when we are there to have fun playing with each other in respect of EGO Server rules. I don't think I'm too far from the truth to say that there are those regular players that got so tired out of those rule braking players that they plan to leave or/and left EGO BFBC2 HM Server.

I hope that something good can come out of this in the way that EGO BFBC2 HM Administrators and the ones in charge of Edge-Gamers get together in a common goal of establishing the EGO BFBC2 HM Server in its good former status which enables everyone to play together and have fun without being exposed to some anarchistic rule braking players. One thing that I have notice is that the administrators approach to the same violation of a EGO rule are in so many different ways, from not doing anything at all to kick some one out of subjective reasons. I would like to see some sort of "standardization" on permanent basis without becoming inhuman.

Wish you the best with the EGO BFBC2 HM Server.

By this I thank you all and God Bless You.

Yours Sincerely, Bengt "Wolf" Johansson.

I sent you a private message to remind you.

Slander is lying about someone publicly with the spoken word....you're thinking of libel.

Your message may be less condescending, but you're calling me a liar now. I've no reason to lie.

I've little interest in carrying on with this. This "wannabe admin" will just use the time I've spent posting inane articles in the forums playing the game instead. I'm not as uppity there, somehow. Hope that works for you.

As I replied in your PM. I looked up your old MAUL record and I was not the one you talked to that then demoted you. You seem to have me confused with another member of leadership.
