I have always been trying to be a better heli pilot. It's not that I can't fly, I can actually do that fairly well unless a a stupid notion comes into my head. I have a problem, I've hit a barrier. I find it hard to line up for a shot and this puts me and my gunner in deep peril all to often without any other mistakes being made. It means I'm in the threat zone for way too long and unable to maneuver the way I'ld like. It takes so long to get a kill that often I get killed first.
I use WASD for power and yaw, mouse for fore/back and roll. I've tried other configurations but they just don't work. The mouse works fine, perfect and so does WS for raise/lower but man the AD keys yaw the nose way too much, way too fast for me to be a good shot. If yaw were to be slower for a given key press that would help. I can't find a way to get smooth yaw control, the most rapid pulsing I can do is not a solution. I've tried lining up on targets using just roll but that doesn't seem to be a solution.
So once again I ask what I'm missing that will help me get lined up on targets.
