this is for all you =(e)='s
i have noticed that a lot of =(e)='s try to admin when there are lots of admins on the server...
i'll give you an example...
today on 2fort there was me and at least 3 other admins on the server, we were dealing with a guy who had a bad name....he said some swear words, an =(e)= started telling him we dont alow swearing and all that....PLZ STOP!!
this is not a one-time problem it happens all the time,
look guys unless there is no admin do not admin... its our job, your job is to have fun and play the game
this is a quote from the sticky in the "requiting forum, START HERE"
"7. Remember, at the =(e)=™ level, you are NOT an admin yet. So don't try to be. When an =(eG)=™ or (eGO)=™ member is in the server watch how he or she admins. "

believe me we will notice YOU, we dont need you trying to prove yourself...
what you can do is let us know when someone is swaering or breaking the rules, i think tis is done by hitting "u" then typing "@" then your message, this lets only the admin read it.

i know you guys just want to prove yourself but just have fun and you will get promoted faster then you can think! :)

i only say it when theres like 1 admin on the server or he dident notice... i think.. if i have done something like this then sorry xD

It is nice to know the @ trick. I was looking for that today. 8)

Now i have to teach Pedro something: [link=hyperlink url]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electoral_fraud#Techniques[/link]

Well, sometimes the admins don`t even care what`s going on, so then the =(e)=`s tries to help out.

Understandably there are always two sides to a story. May I remind my fellow e's that the admin have the final say in these matters? Seriously. Unless I don't see an admin on the server(sometimes I run into that due to the time frame I am active) I typically do not say a word. I let the admin take care of things. After all, isn;t that what they are there for? Aren't we e's here just for help when the admin NEED it? Personally, I've not met an EGO or an EG that doesn't care. I have met those that patiently wait to see how a certain person conducts themselves to see whether the use of foul language(example) was just a one time fluke or whether it will be a common occurence with the player.

In short, leave the admin to be admin.

'Tis absolutely right. Leave the admining to the admins puts it simply enough. But don't think that means you can't be helpful. As an e, you can do your part by following the rules and being a mature player, which sets the good example and helps keep the positive, clean, friendly attitude that we strive to maintain on our servers. Being an e is by no means just some sort of precursor to eG, and eG isn't something you should push for. Just act your role, basically, and in time, you may just advance to the ranks of the admin. :)

err... I think im guilty of saying no language >< But it dont do it all the time.

but sometimes there are no eG's/eGO's to fix the issue. Not like i harass them, I just usually say once. And if it was me from last night... well it was last night and I get crazy from lack of sleep >:) (i tend to do better on killing too. Had 65 kills to my 11 deaths lmao and 27 assists and 7 dominations)

Overall... I don't believe the fact of admin's not caring. I believe that some miss the fact that it happens though. This kinda goes back to the fact of our chat the other night on the goldrush 2 server... Just msg an admin if there are issues and none in the servers.

Sorry!

My belief is this:
If there is an admin on your team, and one on the other team, dont say anything unless the one on your team is afk or something. There is a whole nother world going on the admin only chat that most cannot see. IF there is only one on the server, however, and on the opposite team, therefore not able to see your team chat, then by all means warn away, and if needed, contact the admin via admin chat (team chat with @ before what you say).

And admins care. Or they quite obviously wouldnt be admins.

well, sometimes, I will say loud to watch the language when the person speaks in team talk and the only admin is on the other team. Like that, I can tell him that there is a problem happening. Most of the time, if there is an admin, I wait for something like 30 seconds before saying anything, because don't believe what they say, they are human too and sometime miss some bad apples.

its ok that your trying to help in the server but you should leave that to the admins and if the player keeps trash talking in team talk and the admin is in the other team then tell him.
Let these problems to the admins

I have encountered literally DOZENS of times a situation where a person does what he likes and admins present do not warn. I have even admin chatted them with no answer.

I know there is the "secret admin world" going on behind our back, but what if a player types "f777 this" and an admin does his secret thing but the rest of the server only sees that the guy said what he said and apparently had no consequence?

And what is wrong with showing a united front to pubs?

I would like to hear an advisor weigh in on this.

I have seen this too but not very often.... but if you look later on here in the forums, 99.9% of the time they are ususally in the request for ban section :)

I only try to warn people about language or minor things like that when I see no admins on my team. If one is on the other team, then I'll use the admin chat to tell him, and if there are none, then I message someone and say that there a re no admins on the server. But if it's something major like griefing, then I just don't say a word, unless you count friend chat that is.

Couple of points:

1) eachdraidh makes a good point here - one thing that's often taught in admin school (and =(e)='s have been able to attend these too in the past if there are open slots, to get some insight into the admining process) is to not over-admin. If a player lets slip a minor profanity over the mic, then the admin may let it slide if it's a one time thing, especially if it was a heat of the moment thing, and watch the player from that point on to make sure it's not done repeatedly. This policy is also stated in the [link=http://edgegamers.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?60561]stickied thread[/link] here.

2) Members who have been recently promoted may not have their admin abilities yet. Thus, they will also not be able to see your admin chat messages.

Another thing to add to this: If something was said in team chat, and the admin is on the other team, we don't see it. Yes, we're admins, but we're still players. We still follow the same chat/mic rules that everyone else does. We can't see the other team's team chat, we can't hear what the other team says over mic, and we can't hear dead people unless we are dead. It's not a matter of not caring, it's a matter of not being all-seeing and all-hearing.

best thing you =(e)='s to do is play the game!!!

but seriously whens there is an admin DO NOT ADMIN

@ Carne

we absolutely care whats going on! its our job, i dont know a single admin who wouldnt care. look just cuase we dont say anything doesnt mean we dont care, you need to not worry about people swearing on our servers and play the game!

or

let US know, not the offender

And kind of a side note, something I've been trying to emphasize lately: If as an =(e)=™ you need to warn someone, and this goes for all members, please construct it in a clear and meaningful way. "HaloRacer, please watch your language on eGO servers. Thank you!" instead of something like "language" or "watch ur language plz".

I'll admit I do this from time to time. I've read all the stickies and rules and things but there are still times I'm not sure what to do or if I should do nothing. Also I always forget about the admins working in the background. When I first joined and didn't know about it I would see stuff and wouldn't see anything happen and would think "Okay admins you going to get that?"

Others times I just don't notice admins are on. On Goldrush I warned a player about their language and I got a PM from an admin I hadn't seen. I brought the scoreboard and saw there were four admins in server that I hadn't noticed before. I think for the most part when we =(e)='s do stuf like that is beacuse this is a very different community from most so we are a bit overwhelmed by how different this is. My first few weeks I felt like a Police officer with a shiny new badge but know I think of it as more a cadet at the academy.

Whenever I'm in the GravelPit, and I'm the only admin in there, and at least 2 e's in there...
I just let them do it... Know Why? I'm training them to be a respectfully admin. Know what I mean?
If it gets out of hand, I'd tell him to get behind me and I'll deal with the problem.
