Counter-Strike Global Offensive Jail Server My deep analysis of jailbreak

Dear fellow eGO members,

My name is Contivalious and for the past few months I've been carefully analyzing the eGO jailbreak server to study human behavior and interaction. I noticed how certain users would interact with those who attended the server often. Those who had been on the server longer would bond with other players who had spent hours and hours on the server. The users had seem to create a connection from their time spent in the server. Another thing I noticed is what types of users were left out. For starters the users who were usually left out or criticized were young players (below the age of 13). My interpretation of this was that the older players would make fun or bully the younger players for a boost of their own confidence. Of course, this isn't always true but from my time here I saw that as a predominant factor within the eGO JB environment. Another thing that stuck out from my time here was players who were not able to connect with other people and decide to use their anger. These players were classified as "toxic" players. Many of these players did not last long within the community before they were either kicked or banned by an admin. It was interesting to see these connections and I hope to gather more data as I play. Overall in order to have a successful time in eGO Jailbreak it is best to refrain form being toxic, be around the age of 15-26, and develop good connections with people who attend the server often.

Lmao. I know most people say that age shouldn't matter but the reality is that many people judge your intellectual ability and maturity based of your age and because of that they establish the fact that they are superior to you.

Interesting. Quick side note though - no one should be getting bullied based on age. If you see this (from players, members, or admins), make sure you are reporting it! We want to have a positive server environment (I know this can be hard with the game and JB community, but) we do our best to keep it that way.

An interesting analysis for sure. A couple of things stuck out to me.


1) It isn't just the Jail server that has these issues that you speak of. The age discrimination is on just about every single server (or rather online game) that there is. It has always been "Oh you are/sound like you are a kid? You don't fit in here!" Like Simon said, if you EVER see someone being singled out and/or harassed because they aren't as old as others, report the players doing the harassing. That is NOT something we allow here. Period.

2) Toxic players don't stick around long because they hinder an enjoyable environment that eGO has created for over 12 years now. We aren't here to degrade other players because....well....it's a video game. We are all here for the same purpose: to play video games with other people who have the same interests as us. When people try to come in and ruin that experience, they will be met with the same fate as their predecessors.

Age is a part of the issue, but in reality its the Facebook crowd.

In 2008 when we first got Jail for CS:S, it was 80/20 on mature and proper players to idiots and rule breakers.

As the internet grew and more people were able to purchase PCs they were able to play PC games much easier. This also led to more players in online games.

It is now 20/80 of those who follow the rules and want a fun but proper playing environment for Jail (as well as other game modes in CS, but also in other games in general).



tl;dr : More people waters down the pool of players who actually want to play games semi-seriously...

Although many players disrespect people of younger ages. Admins usually tend to ignore that in Jailbreak and when they do say something about it people usually ignore it. It's not the admins fault it's just something that has been popularized in all Video games and because it's so common it makes it tough for the admins to kick/warn everyone who is disrespecting a user based of their age.

It generally helps to have admins enforce the rules of the server. I'd also say disrespect is a more major rule as if that is failed to be enforced then less rule-abiding players will continue to play on the server if they're getting yelled at and thus not having fun.

I can totally agree with this. The newer players can sometimes or take a longer to form connections but usually just need to give it some time and follow the rules to avoid stepping on peoples' toes. The harassment towards younger players has definitly gotten better, as I remeber coming on one day and noticing all the toxic players are gone, either banned or left. It still isnt perfect but It has gone a long way since a year to several months ago.

Hahah. I miss the call of duty days, back when it was the non squeakers versus the squeakers. Not saying it's fine, I just miss the good ol days. I was the squeaker back then.

But since I play at night, I’m usually just brushed off and not taken seriously since I don’t have an admin status. To add to it, there usually isn’t an admin online when I do play. I do try my best to let everybody know to read the rules if they haven’t, and tell them to respect one another. Oh boy do you have to swallow a lot of frustration while trying to deal with certain situations. But, I try my best.

Let me stop you there,

How is this a Psychological analysis, when you clearly analyzed social interactions 'like' a sociologist or anthropologist? A psychologist would try to understand the psychological causes of such behaviour rather that simply stating the obvious ~Interpersonal Relations~ ( that would make for an interesting study #AlreadyDone)

The age data? I'm pretty sure there is no data available anywhere, unless... #NSA #StupidPrivacyPolicies
