I feel like we've tried these things all a bunch of times over the years now. TF2 has been in a massive state of flux for community servers for a long time now. Blackmesa has been revived about 5 times now. We've tried a lot of this already a bunch of times.
Not to be a massive pessimist but, none of the servers look to be in great shape. We've tried custom maps, game modes, different rotations. Valve has killed community servers that aren't super unique and run custom stuff (like 10x, which requires constant updating and work for the servers who successfully run it).
It seems like similarly to DoD, the TF2 crowd is real quiet now. Perhaps it's time to start thinking about winding things down. Hate to be that guy but, we've been trying to keep TF2 on life support for quite some time. At this point I'd rather see eGO pump the resources into new games that will drive the community, than try to keep hanging onto old memories. We just don't have the support nor intake to keep trying to pretend that something new will suddenly click and work, I feel.
