Have JailBreak round lengths change with the map.

I think the round lengths should change with the map. With the normal map sizes (clouds, minecraft_beta, etc.) the round lengths are fine and work well with the maps. But for larger maps (chicken_island, fentex, etc.) should have a longer round time so wardens can get to games and still have time to LR.

What I'm proposing is staff (and players that play regularly too, hopefully) go through all the maps and set aside maps that are larger in size and extend their round times by a minute or so. I'd be happy to help with this if it's greenlighted. I feel like some maps aren't picked because they're just too large and you can't have a good round most of the time on them due to the size of the lad. With one or two more minutes added to the example I'm using, chicken_island, you can get them out of the armory and to box climb outside in about a minute and a half, kill half, and be left with 12-15. After that, you can pursue rebellers, take them inside to claw of love, and kill off half, leaving 6-8 left in about 2 minutes (depending on the rebellers' skill.) After this, you take them to a game that requires health, kill half to leave 3-4, do something like trivia or another game to get a faster LR, and wrap up the round and have LR with a couples of minutes or so to spare.

Instead of longer map times why not just add in portals in the map, but the idea is nice

That would be hard to do even for the few popular maps with the troubles of decompiling a map.

To be fair, decompiling isn't hard when done in the right hands. The problem is when it comes to recompiling or editing somebody elses map. It's not our property, regardless of whether it is on our server or not. We can't just go around editing maps, Matrix Matrix - and besides, this could cause a CT/T side imbalance on some maps. It should be left to the map creator to make transporation decision- and if they make poor ones, their map simply won't be played. I agree with the map times suggestions to an extent, however, they should only go shorter. Imagine dying or connecting at the very start of the round and having to wait 10 minutes.

I can see how it could be good, but 9 minutes is kind of enough. If you're running low on time and you played the first map game just do one marker lives one marker dies and then do like trivia or something like that. Another thing is, is if you're afk at the start of the round, you get freekilled, or you get killed to a cancer ct, you're going to have to wait out more time in spec doing nothing, i guess you can just watch youtube.

If it was a vote tho, like 1 minute before the round time end you could vote to extend the map for like 5 minutes then just +1, but if it's more than 5 minutes i feel like you're just going to wait in spec for too long. If you were to extend a round that would be 14 minutes, that 1/3rd of the time a WHOLE map has, 45 minutes, you have to also keep that in mind.

Sooo from me it's a +1 and -1.

Well there's been maps that have been edited by the tech? I'm just kind of confused on what you're saying.

Yes, and with permission most likely. Some map makers, such as the creator of obama, charge large sums of money for any form of edit to their map ($500) and based on the Steam EULA and Workshop Guidelines we do have to comply with that. eGO won't even violate the no custom skins rule on community servers rule, let alone their workshop rules. I could be wrong about eGO really caring about this, but this is most likely the case. Out of all of our maps that would have portals added, I'm sure at least one mapper would complain which could be enough.

I think if a command were to be added that the warden can use to initiate a vote to extend the round by a certain amount of time would be cool. Mainly since time needed varies so much between maps

First step is to ask the map maker (if available). Second step is to just edit it ourself. It's not like we are taking credit for it either, just a map name change to make sure that people download the correct map.

Also for obama map: Modify this Map and distribute the modified Map on another site
You only need to ask for that. Normally we do, if no response or a no, you can still do it, lol.

-1 for me because of the fact that I dont want to be dead just waiting for 10 or something minutes, especially since I rebel a lot, which of course doesnt always result in the round ending and I die. Maybe instead of having the round extended we just dont delay the round with pointless commands like take 1 step out of your cell and face the back when there are no guns in cells and making us crouch walk everywhere. Ive seen plently of good wardens get good lr time with maps like chicken and fentex.

Well, I really wanted to add this to stray away from games like one marker lives and one marker dies, because games that are purely luck based aren?t fun at all. This was suggested so the warden could play multiple map games on a map that is larger than most, while also having a minute and a half or so for LR.
About your 14 minute time; I agree that would be absolutely awful for people in spectator. I mostly meant extend the round by a minute or a minute and a half or something. Maybe have the starting time as 10:30 instead of 9.

Then be fast and dont take ages

matter of fact is that if you pay attention to your round, stay in control and be efficient with your orders and don't give redundant ones you can finish with lt within 2-3 minutes on ANY map it just comes down to wardening skill. the second best way is just to have a good microphone and be mature, often times you hear kids ruin their rounds with immaturity and the server blows up and is impossible to control. when a bad mic comes along, it becomes repeat galore and often times redundancy.

I just wanted to say something, could we please make this a poll, like for example whenever you're picking a map, like for example warden would type !extend and then a poll would come up and everybody gets to pick how long it should be, soo like there would be 7 options, 1 min all the way to 6 min and then the 7th option would be to have no extended time. If that makes sense.

At this time we won't be doing this as we've made changes to the round time through changing LR time. We will see how these changes impact the round time and if the rounds are still too short, feel free to make a new thread and we can look further into this~
