So, as many of you are aware, there have been a few bugs on some servers where the map won't change. Allowing the players with their O to change maps would fix this, obviously this can be temporary until the bug fixes itself. Admins with the =(eGO)= Tag, have the permission to ban players permanently, I don't see why they don't have a few other permissions such as changing maps. This would need to be taught to players how to properly do this. I don't know how many times the map has failed to change, they see I am a full admin, they ask me to change the map. I tell them I can't. Most responses are something like "Why can't you change it, that's dumb" "your a full admin but can't change maps???" and stuff like that. The only downside to this that I can see is if admins abuse it, but there are other things that they could abuse that would be 10x worse.
This would help the server by the map changing and players not being stuck on the same map for 1-2 hours because of a glitch and no managers+ are available.
Now if there is a reason that egos do not have it then i apologize and this thread can be closed.

+1 I hate it when the map doesn't change, I really don't see why eGO's can't so It'd be cool to do this to fix the problem

This would be abused so fast. Wouldn't even get a day in before someone changes it off a map they dislike and try and pass it off as "broken map" or maybe they just misclick and accidentally change it. There is no way every single O admin has good enough judgement to make the call on whether a map needs to be changed.

To add on: I think if anything it would be fine if ATs could do it, MAYBE ECs. Anyone else would really be pushing it.

If it's breaking the server, we should likely be escalating this bug on tech's list.

As a workaround, is it possible to RTV to change the map quickly?

This has been suggested a ton over the years by the way. But it's just too difficult to hand over that level of permission to everyone.

That's a fair point epic, Your points in TeamSpeak were valid ones, so say only EC and AT got it, they have both shown that they are able to do good in the community and are trusted with much more than regular admins. ECs are already trained on how to change maps(for sm servers I believe) and ATs are able to be trained in doing it. This would help maps get changed when they are broken, but also prevents most abuse. Thanks for the great addition

Edit:simon, it isn't necessarily game-breaking, you can still play it just gets annoying. I believe tech tried to fix this problem on minigames but it still doesn't work 100% of the time. RTV does work sometimes, but if the map doesn't change what happens is its as if it changes to that map again. so you have to wait a while to rtv.

But what happens if no ECs or ATs are on when the map fails to change? Then we run into the same "problem" we have now, which means that this isn't the right way to fix it.

It's not a fix, its to help alleviate the problem.

Again, this could just be temporary until a permanent fix is made, and if all goes well, maybe keep it that way.

Although, this suggestion was made in good faith. I personally believe as above stated by other members of the community. This would have a much higher probability of being abused. I think personally the ban option is more difficult to abuse due to the nature of the simplicity of it. Multiple witnesses, chat logs, video recordings. The whole "it was glitched" rouse could be slightly "fabricated" for lack of better terms.

I genuinely think this is an issue that needs to be addressed, but it's not my place to find the solution. I do think there is a middle ground to be met here, though. Either make the people with the ability be more active, or give the ability to someone who is. I can promise you, there are players who wont come back to your server if they feel it's a lost cause and the admins don't care about a significant issue such as this.

I personally would suggest finding one or two of the most active people on the server and giving them the ability to change maps. This gives a controlled experiment. Depending how it goes, you could either squash the whole thing and revert back, or maybe it goes well and you decide to add one or two more with the ability to map change.

Changing the map for eGOs is a great suggestion but it could be easily abused. If it could be added with "vote to change the map" it would be better and you can put the votes up to 80% of players to change the map, furthermore if the map has the bug on it. Report on the forums and tech should handle it or remove it from the map pool until it is fixed.

I agree depression, forcing it to be a vote with a majority would help prevent the abuse. And deslimn, the certain members would be those that have proven that they are trust worthy, like the admin trainers and event coordinators as epic stated

Yeah, I think people who have been in a CA for a while, should be able to get the job done. I agree with everyone else who replied when it comes to it being abused. I think that very trusted members besides that. Since leadership isn’t always available for a map change. Not necessary for all O’s.

Heidi, I’m not sure if I’m reading that right but no one would be editing maps, they would only be force changing the Jenny through console/commands.

Right, I understand that. Are they active on the server in question, though? If so, great. If not, not sure how that helps much. It's currently a permanent issue that would require a bit of a constant helping hand. I was playing on Bhop with a few members/admins the other night and they were saying that the tech team knew about the bug, but haven't been able to squash it yet. So as you(3dsam1) suggested, a temporary change in some peoples permissions who are very active on the server is a good idea, whoever it may be. At least until the issue gets fixed on the tech side. By no means am I pointing fingers btw, cuz I sure as heck couldn't fix it myself haha. Just trying to find a solution cuz it really affects things. Sometimes the map doesn't change multiple times in a row and it's really bothersome

Oooo! By ‘change’ I thought you meant edit by that loll, too early for me when I said that. But as others have said and most of what I said I agree with.

Deslim, Obviously ECs and ATs cant always get on and wont always be on, but it would just help there be more of a chance that theres someone who can fix it.

I agree with this there are always problems happening with some broken maps and this is a good recommendation +1

I think you're missing my point. But, not my place to make the call. But I'm sure this issue is driving players away the more it remains unresolved.

-1 I honestly love the idea but in my opinion this would be abused a lot by some of the O's. I could see it working well with AT's and EC's but not every O.
