What I want is for it to be against the rules to shoot at a person you missed a taze on as a detective. There currently is no concrete rule against this and it has ruined rounds for people that are just playing the game.

There is no good way out for the player that is being shot at regardless of their role.
a: The inno likely get killed by other innos seeing a detective shoot at him if he doesnt shoot back.

b: if the Inno shoots back, he gets called kos by another detective that scans the dead detective's body, or other innos see him shoot the detective and put him down.

c: If the detective doesn't hit him, he could try to report the inno for rdm after the inno kills him, since he's a detective and innos shouldn't really ever kill them.

If the player that gets shot at is a Traitor, their round is virtually over because;

a: You killed a detective, everyone that sees it happen pops you instantly and your round is over.

b: Another detective scans the body of the detective you killed and calls KOS on you.

A suggestion of what the rule could look like under the detective section:
May not shoot in the general direction of players without evidence suggesting they're a traitor. (e.g. Missing a taze)

For clarification: The situation I'm talking about involves a detective missing a taze, then shooting in a person's direction. (t-baiting if they were an inno, not a detective)

So a Det. can be a T?

T-Baiting
Intentionally acting like a traitor is considered griefing and is server punishable.

Traitorous Behavior
Shooting around or towards other players, unless for self defense.

Regardless of it being impossible of a detective being a traitor, shoot at or around other players for no reason is traitorous behavior and is considered t-baiting.

Eh two different view styles though the outcome of both our judgement of the situation would probably be the same which would probably go from w/k/b. I don't change my view on T-Baiting for A DET. but I respect your view as well, you call it T-Baiting ill call it SD. and ofc if he hits the T or inno then intentional RDM.

The way I see it, and have seen it for the last 3 years of playing. A detective can act like a traitor, even with having no plausible way for the detective to be a traitor. And by definition simply acting like a traitor is t-baiting.

Apples and Oranges with all the above. I'd treat occurrences like this as RDM, SD and/or Griefing. At the end of the day, this shouldn't be allowed nor should we be allowing it to happen. I wouldn't dwell or stress too much on something like this, have fun and just address it accordingly.

Team work makes the dream work, or something along those lines.

Man oh man I love how much discussion this post has sparked! The peeps C CtrlAltDelicious and Luna had the perfect response for this one. As seen below
There isn't a need folks to make an underlining rule for something like this, just my personal opinion. If a Detective attempts to taze an unknown role and shoots after in hopes they will return fire just to simply kill them then it should be treated as RDM, SD and/or Griefing (as you're ruining said players experience and time on the server), which is already outlined in our Code of Conduct. Essentially, they didn't have sufficient evidence that would deem that player to be a traitor. Also, we don't need to be turning our rule book for TTT into a Bible or an encyclopedia as it would just detract from game play.

Have fun and make use of the golden rule that has helped me when admining any situation, common sense. When in doubt ask a fellow admin or an AT.

Like Ctrl said I dont think its necessary to add something like this to the rules as they are already quite long, however I went ahead and added it to the FAQ under the TTT section which can be found here

Like stated below it is in fact considered server disruption and should be treated by the W/K/B method.

7) If a detective misses a tazer shot on a player are they allowed to shoot at and bait the player into shooting them in hope that they could possibly be a traitor?
No, this falls under server disruption and players will be server-punished for such actions.

Thanks for the contribution to the post everyone this thread will now be closed.
