I'd like to push a public message out to address some of the things I have been hearing around our Grand Theft Auto community. I hope this provides some clarity on how we, as a community, operate our servers. While I am not expecting everyone to fully agree with all of the practices in this thread...I am expecting that everyone at the minimum acknowledge it and move forward.
Ban Requests & Ban Contests Are Private Discussions.
Everyone wants to defend their friends and those who they are close to. I completely understand that. However, the business of a Ban Request or a Ban Contest is only for the eyes (or ears) of the individual who is requesting or contesting and the Leadership team. This is necessary to ensure that the Leadership team are able to make an appropriate decision based on the relevant facts containing around the request or contest. Mind you, these facts are gathered by not only the information provided to the Leadership team by the single party, but also via server logs and other Leadership conversations that may take place. It is your best option and choice to allow the individual requesting or contesting to work it out with Leadership. You adding your 2¢ may (unintended) worsen the situation for your buddy.
Leadership Are Responsible For Running This Game
This is the toughest thing to explain. I certainly wont be able to do it justice in this chat, but I will try my hardest. Our Leadership are selected based on their abilities to represent the players. Our Leadership members exhibit qualities that allow them to make unbiased, positive and impactful decisions that drive results for this community and the servers it runs. The Leadership team will regularly work with it's members and players to ensure the player base has an outlet to allow their voice to be heard. With that though, there has to be someone to make the decisions at the end of the day. Some of those decisions may conflict with your personal views however are done to represent the interests of all of the players who play here.
Out of the player base, there is not a single members voice that should weigh more. It's the Leadership team's responsibility to to take all players feedback to make an effective decision. There are some members who feel their personal expertise, their personal tenure, or who they are as a person should make them matter more and that simply is not how it works. Our Leadership team has the fortunate or unfortunate responsibility to make a decision at the end of the day. They don't always expect you to agree with it, but they expect you to give it a chance because it's a decision made for the community.
Admin Interactions
Admin Interactions are expected to be private. This is not intended for the sake of deception, this is intended for the sake of the privacy and integrity of the team responsible for handling the way our server operates. The Admin team will have private conversations regarding members who may possibly be operating outside of what the Code of Conduct and Server Rules. These conversations are meant for the admin team and the admin team only. It's not meant for the admin team and whoever the admin feels needs to know. It is irresponsible when this happens and it is a misuse of power. When admins share private administrative conversations with those outside of admin ranks it will be met with steep consequence. The same is said for the Leadership team.
Im not expecting everyone to agree with these point of views, what I am expecting is the toxicity I am seeing operate along side typical roleplay come to an end. If it does not, I will ask the Leadership team to handle it swiftly to ensure that our server continues to operate under the mentality of "Punk Free Gaming."
