Good morning everyone!
This post is about a suggestion and all the "facts" are based on a perspective from a player. I have no official data.
(KZ=Climb)
(MG=Minigames)

Over the last few months I have noticed that two of the counter-strike servers have had less than five players at most times and one of the servers has been dead for a while. The two servers I am mentioning are KZ and MG.
I have noticed that KZ has still a small player base from time to time and that Minigames is barely played.

My suggestion is to merge this two servers and transfer all of the maps into Minigames. Add a few MG maps to minigames because currently it is just courses. Maybe remove a few KZ maps due to them being so many to choose from.

The positive outcome that comes from this is that the two servers will be one, it might add more players to the base and it will leave a spot open for another server. I would consider the 1v1 arena server on the other server. This will add a new game mode which would give us (the community) a new server to play on, I strongly believe that if we put enough work into the server that we can make it work just like the AWP server.

The 1v1 is currently very popular and has been highly requested by a few members of the community. It might be dead from the beginning but so was AWP and yet here we are where it could be 20 players online. As we all know there has been many players who have started or joined the community by playing different servers on the CS-GO Division who might have gone to other divisions from there. I think that proceeding with this will contribute to many new players and a community that grows even further. Don't forget that hundreds if not thousands of players usually go to arena servers to warm up before their competitive/faceit games.

If you would decide to give the 1v1 server a try then I am sure I can fix a player base to try out the server and make it as functional and enjoyable as possible. I am sure our fellow 4g0tt3nSou1 4g0tt3nSou1 have lots of ideas that could make the server a wonder.

Would love to hear some structure criticism from the community instead of a just simple "no/yes/+1/-1".

Thank you for your time & best wishes,
-whu

A big fat +1.
I'd prefer bringing modes from older cs games to csgo tho instead on just a 1v1 server. I'd love to see cs 1.6 zombie plague in csgo or night crawlers. Or a fun server which run fun maps/mods like ghost strike or prop hunt.

-1, merging the servers would help very little if at all, to start both player bases are very different. Think about what mg is Deathrun, Multigames/Minigames, Course, BR, etc. out of that list only one of those is even similar to kz. Then think about kz a gamemode that is primarily "parkour" or "climb". Yes, both of these servers aren't the highest up on the list but they still do have player bases although few or semi-inactive. Anybody that has hosted a kz or mg server fill or even just tried to get the server filled on their own time knows that it isn't hard to do. MG has been around for a long time and has a lot of seasonal spikes and kz is actually still relatively new given that it came out last spring or maybe summer I believe.

All in all -1

I agree with this. These servers are great additions to CS and are fun to play on, but there is absolutely no reason why we can't rotate them out seasonally to boost their pop as a "Limited time" kind of deal. Why not? 6 months we boost MGs pop, 6months we boost things like KZ, maybe add AWPs to that rotation, giving them a fair chance at constant playerbase without taking up 3 server's worth of resources.

1v1 server has been requested countless times and people want a modded existence where they can play counterstrike with things that doesn't fit in other servers, like some special rounds and whatnot. I made a megathread a long time ago with some popular examples.

This suggestion might limit the needs for server fills in place of a sort of scarcity factor. Easier to manage and easier to say "Hey! Only one more moth of KZ left. Top of the leaderboard for the rotation gets a steam card" or something to boost the activity all without just asking people to hop on so the server looks full for a bit.

The mega thread i made. Keep in mind the mentality making this post was I was under the (wrong) impression that the AWP server would be 1v1 with AWPs only. Not correct but the ideas in there would make for a really good 1v1 server.

I understand your point Goose but what does EG gets from a very inactive server? Why not to move Kz & MG into their own server, they are dead half the time. They might be very active during summer when teenagers get summer break and play all summer but besides that, it's dead.

I believe that if you have a server, you should try to have it filled/have a certain amount of players all the time (such as TTT, JB, SURF, BHOP), not as a "fill event". I understand such events but they haven't worked very well. We are not getting any new members nor players from MG, it's just a waste of money. As above, it should have deathrun and such but when nominating there is only courses.

If we're merging two servers that are nothing alike, then we may as well just remove both of them.

What if we would switch MG for 1v1 would that work instead? I am just looking for a good way to do this if it would be possible.

I don't think it would be necessary to remove one server to gain another. If you have a suggestion for a server, you should draw it up and send it to leadership/make a post inhere. Let them decide what's needed in order to follow through.

A very big -1. MG players are not gonna play KZ and vice versa. They probably don't even know the other server exists. This is not going to solve the low population issue.

HOW DARE YOU EVEN THINK ABOUT REMOVING/SWITCHING MG. Over my dead body.

Big -1 KZ and MG are two different modes and won't mesh well. KZ actually has a handful a players regularly and merging it with MG will kill that.

That said, I do agree with the point that MG needs some more maps added. I also think a 1v1 server would be a nice addition.

With all of the servers mentioning low average population, I think the above would actually over a long term BENEFIT those servers!

The reason being, say we took MG, KZ Climb, AWPs Only and merged them together on rotation, each server would have focus assign to a server that otherwise doesn't get that attention? Love the MG server? Well for the next 4 months in its rotation, hype is targeted on those servers, increasing average playercount. It gives EVERYONE a chance to show their love and support while modulating the impact of servers that straight up are not preforming well. Give them a new look on life as developers can also use the downtime to come up with new updates, changes, or events for each server during the downtime so when its that servers turn on the rotation, they have new content, again driving up players and user experience.

Each one of these servers is taking up a set amount of resources on a consolidated managed machine. Thus machine costs money to operate, and its not exactly a secret that eGO's margins are slim enough or in fact in the red, to the point where having a server EMPTY or near empty for weeks on end ISNT justifiable.
We could be using those resources to try ideas suggested, and give each suggestion a proper chance to succeed with the same resources the other servers are afforded, by singlehandedly removing the concept of what separates JB and TTT and what focus they are given to size, as if executed right, such a rotation server should preform at minimum better than the current status quo.

My two cents, but what's evidentially viewed as unthinkable is these servers best chance at having consistently better performance and experience.

I don't see merging multiple servers into one as a suitable way to "fix" their population (the majority of these servers you are talking about merging are doing fine IMO).

You can't be mixing MG maps with KZ maps. They are nothing alike - both player bases are different.

Big -1
