CS Jailbreak A huge Jailbreak issue regarding hit registration & lag compensation

The servers are just trash. Even people with 20 ping have shots that don't register because of all the "mods" on the servers.

You don't think it's due to the amount of people online as well? I've noticed I hit way more shots on a lower server pop than when the server is full, and player cap is pretty massive compared to the other servers people are comparing JB to, so that might also be affecting hit reg.

From what I know about lag and latency, the more of it you factor into the server, the more guesses it will have to make on which shots actually hit who. Sadly if you're mixing a cesspool of ping rates of 20, 90, 250, can turn into 1 huge guessing game for the server since it's impossible to remove the distance factor that packets have to traverse while playing.

that is what he is saying (maybe), server is just not that good to handle a "big" amount of players leading to the hit registration problem or other problems

And that's the bigger topic to be discussed in my opinion. To fix something like this, it would more than likely result in not as many people being able to play. My 2 "solutions" I thought of would either be to prohibit players that exceed X amount of ping from connecting (highly doubt anyone would want that) or to reduce the player cap of server (doubt ppl want that either). So the big question is how to reduce latency interference without negatively impacting the player base.

The reason there is a “player cap” is to limit latency issues, as far as the server itself is have to assume it’s the host itself? Not tech savvy like @MSWS or @blank_dvth they are the brains

I’m pretty sure eGO isn’t ever going to have a ping requirement for any server as it would deter anyone that may not be NA(where host is) to join the servers and not allow them to play

To me, this is sounding more like a networking and lag compensation issue.

The server infrastructure from what I know is NFOServers, JB is specifically Chicago.

Code:
Tracing route to jb.csgo.edgegamers.cc [74.91.113.83]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

  1 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms unifi.localdomain [192.168.1.1]
  2 10 ms 17 ms 10 ms 10.41.224.1
  3 10 ms 11 ms 10 ms 100.125.188.12
  4 18 ms 11 ms 10 ms 100.120.176.18
  5 14 ms 15 ms 15 ms 68.1.211.7
  6 13 ms 15 ms 13 ms kanc-b2-link.ip.twelve99.net [62.115.168.32]
  7 26 ms 26 ms 26 ms chi-b23-link.ip.twelve99.net [213.155.130.176]
  8 28 ms 31 ms 27 ms telia-1.e7.router2.chicago.nfoservers.com [64.74.97.253]
  9 26 ms 27 ms 28 ms jb.csgo.edgegamers.cc [74.91.113.83]

Trace complete.

As people have suggested, EU players are probably going to have issues with hitreg or ping related troubles because the server is overseas. I'd recommend maybe a VPN to try and work around the networking. The optimal solution is using lag comp plugins like this post from AlliedModders and this post as well. For testing on a dev server, you might want to look at this Valve Dev Community entry and use sv_showlagcompensation to compare.

:)

Yea that's the point I was trying to make lol

Yes, I know. But if there was a "lag compensation" however that would work, you can change your connection to the game so that your ping is higher, but without actually getting higher latency. So this would be easily abusable.

I think it's also possible to work something out with your ISP for gaming to route IP traffic over the shortest path, so your packets don't get sent over some giant spaghetti loop of wires, and get less lag.

I pray for something which can really improve the gameplay of players with big ping... I think i'm going to stop playing JB soon too because I can't really enjoy playing anymore... Most of the time I'm just pissed off...
It's sad because I enjoy this server but damn, it's just unfun overall :/

Lag is the true enemy of gamers :/ frfr

yep ong... It's been a while that I'm fighting it but I can't anymore lol (when there is 20-30 ppl, its cool but when the server is full, its unfun)

Ikr, kuantum posted solution just need people to look at the post and add a lag comp plugin

@Belt @Spare Hello senior managers of the cs team, this situation has yet to be resolved and I was wondering if we can get some sort of update on what you guys could possibly do and look at this please. It is a game ruining experience for all players outside of North America which accounts for a large number of players so please list this as top priority. Here is some further evidence that there is still a problem. .

it would go crazy if they like did something so it's playable at least >: (

I just saw this thread and ever since i played jb for the first time, the next day after i played the first time, i had a deagle right on a wardens head, and mind you he is standing still, and i shot it didn't register and I got killed right after. I play with 220 ping so its quite hard to play the game and rebel, although i still enjoy the fun of playing Games in JB Maps!
