Not Planned Enable reactions to Suggestion Posts

Hi all, currently on the forums there are reactions / emotes that you can use to quickly show your opinion on a thread / post.

For some reason these are disabled in this sub-forum (the Suggestions forum). I am suggesting that we enable it on threads and posts, as these would still be relevant in this forum.

I think the mentality of having reactions disabled is so that people do not get discouraged when suggesting things, so they removed it. My two cents, keep it as-is. -1 for me.

My post/reaction ratio goes down each time I post here so

Maybe not even reactions but, instead of just upvote maybe add downvote. Possibly a per message system and not just the entire thread

Dis is a good idea. I'd like to at least see downvote added as an option to the initial post.

Summed it up well. New readers can also be influenced by seeing the type of reactions the post may have before even reading or considering the suggestion at hand.

I think a good compromise is to allow one to up vote or down vote a suggested post and only allow LE+ to see the results. This gives them some insight as to how the community feels towards a suggestion while also removing some of the disadvantages mentioned above.

I love the silent vote idea! Let’s people make their own decisions without being swayed by the existing numbers.

A silent vote IMO is the best option.

As someone who comments the suggestion forums pretty regularly, I know just how easy it is from someone to take what you say and because of the perception of the way you word a statement, or position; leads to a misunderstanding and hurt feelings that are very often unintentional. It can be discouraging to have people downvoting or negatively reacting to a posted suggestion, especially on newer members of the community who do not know the commenters(or reactors) well enough to know they have no negative will to the person themselves.
Getting rid of a +1 / -1 (Thumbs up/down) mentality would encourage more suggestions, and provide the info that's needed to the powers above.

This doesn't stop people from posting a comment stating their opinion on the post at hand, but it shouldn't either. Discussion and even arguments are very useful tools in the right setting, but at least it can reduce it as much as possible but giving a more complete way of people expressing their opinions.

If it's a suggestion about a change on a server/forums/discord I'd rather have someone put their thoughts than just hit the dislike button.

If someone says something like "EST is the best time zone" I think that would be more something that warrants the downvote or dislike emote.

Edit: Point being suggestions are more serious. Random conversations in general chatter are not, so you can react to posts.

We had this in the past but then people were getting offended by people disliking their comments instead of saying why they dislike it. Don't think this will be brought back.

I get it, but I'd be concerned that likes and dislikes would stop people from actually replying to a suggestion. I've actually learned so much from the comments. Never got anything out of or .
