you guys keep saying their an advantage... unfair...

its not like their not available to the public. people are just misinformed.
 
WOW.. no wonder i get pwnd by ppl with that crappy gun... you people use skins. but anywayz.. if the server allows you to change the skins then its ok.. if the leaders had a problem with it the servers would be pure servers. and yes you can set a pure server to block out colored player models.. but it would also block out all weapon skins aswell. (may be the reason the server isnt pure) but now that ive seen this best belive im going to put weapon skins on... at least untill i hear one of the leaders say its not ok.... so watch yourselves.. ill be able to see now
 
i have been using the iron sights for as long as i can remember. i have done it in original DOD, and now, i STILL use the iron sights for DOD:S, depending on peoples skills, you can either hit the target without the red dot, or you can just keep practicing until you get it. if people want to change their skins from iron sights to red dot, then so be it.

how is that cheating? i like to think outside of the box. like so, in WWII, when the US dropped the 2 nukes on japan, was that cheating? or that our war machines today allow us to fire missiles from navy ships to cities inland? that doesnt seem like cheating to us when you think about it. people adapt and evolve. we live and learn, thats how we become stronger. so that red dot is just some players of "evolving" to better players. some like me and MANY others, we just practice.

so what im saying, let the people get the skins they want, does that make you a less of a good player? just ask yourselves that :)

ps - one more thing, even if i only change my player skin to the 101st airborne skins, in a dark room or not, if i have sniper and i see a bit of movement, boom, dead XD not the fastest sniper, but i still you see before i die XD
 
I'm getting sick of my custom guns and skins. Sure, they're pretty, but they get as boring as stock after a while.

*gasp* Oh no.. models... whenever a DoD:S file comes with models and material textures, they never work. Oh well.

if you allow people w/e skin they want you get some people with the neon skins where the americans are neon green and germans neon purple and both have neon pink heads

my beef with those skins is that they open the field of vision instead of not being able to see the bottom half of your screen or w/e you can see the assault guy running at you while you look up at the 3rd story of a building or the sniper who has the "scope" turned off so he can see everything including the sniper in the bottom left corner of his screen (where it should be black) peaking out to shoot at him

both situations the person w/ altered skins should die because they shouldnt be able to see their target but because they have skins who opens the field of vision they owned slayr as he charges them and gen sniper as he TRIES to counter-snipe to me that equals an unfair advantage

ok yes these skins open up the sights a little.. but i just put them on a couple days ago and it doesnt give me any advantage really.. its really all about the quick draw.. whoever can aim it the fastest.
these skins dont help you aim any faster. so if you dont do so well with the rifle to begin with, your not gonna magicly get better because you put these skins on.. they dont give that much of an advantage.
but yea anyone with neon people.. thats not cool.

It's great but it comes with disadvantages..

not trying to win anyone over or prolong any arguments, but skins that change the visibility of players vs background are cheap and ruin the game. shame on you if you need that to enjoy it or have fun, that's just silly.

of course no game is perfect, but sometimes the "enhancements" are closer to say... hacks than mods.

I think that no matter how fancy your skins are, nothing substitutes for good old fashioned experience. The day some one uses a skin that makes them unable to die, ill worry about people with skins. Until that day comes ill take pleasure in killing people using skins and ones that dont.
 
Wow very cool looking, I like them but I also like the classic traditional sights that the guns have too. Man, what to do install or not to install I guess try if you like em. Thanks Mil. for the work awesome!
 
Personally, I think there will never be an equal playing field bc too many ppl use these kind of add ons and servers take a hit when they start restricting game play or changing things. I would like pure servers but its not a perfect world and things don't usually work that way. Tech. you still have to make the shot anyways...you still need some skill unlike scripting and such. To each his own I guess....but a lot more ppl use skins then what some may believe.
 
i like these skins but i personally like the original because not everyone has the same skins. and i like to keep it fair but changin the colors of the gun or shape is still fun tho :)
 
Wow this is cool, I actually installed the skins but it messed up my games and I had no idea why and I had to re-install everything on my steam games :(
 
Thats really cool even though I've had them before you even made them they are all out of the net...but cool skill man
 
i dont use any skind or mods and i still win almost every rd i play? hmmm..guess i'm just "old" fashioned..Keep it even ..develope your skills ..you wont need anything else..IMO

re-aligned crosshair more towards the center, and changed from "classic" crosshair, to single dot

Also on Garand with higher resolution/graphics settings, on the side of the eotech where it usually says "eotech" (can only see when other player uses the weapon from the side tho) it now says =(eG)=Milwaukee, and the white you see on the secondary action (first screenshot) it says =eGO)=

anyone else have mean skins for any weapons?

Installation Guide

To install them, open the .rar file, and open your dod folder

example...

C:Program FilesSteamSteamAppsyournameday of defeat sourcedod


Now, highlight all 3 folders in the skins folder and drag and drop them directly into the dod folder, it will come up with this warning...

just click Yes to All, and they are installed and ready to use/be seen in your game
