those fake virus scans are made to do exactly what y'all did - panic - it tells you that u have amany virus's and that u need to buy and dl their product to get rid of them - u can trust that nortons or a respectible name like that is correct. Tell your mom its ok
 
DoD will not send you viruses, however, it's good to listen to your parents. Even though your mom is probably wrong in this instance, fighting about it won't do any good. We parents don't like our kids to fight about things, and we NEVER like to admit that we are wrong! A better plan is to sit out gaming for a couple weeks, then after things have calmed down bring it up again. In the meantime, do your homework, be helpful around the house, etc, and her position on the subject will likely have softened some. ;)
If McAffee and Norton say that nothing is wrong, and the computer isn't acting up at all, there is no reason to believe ANYTHING this Antivirus XP 2008 says. Likely it is a Phishing program. Make sure Mcaffee and Norton are up to date, and trust them.
 
Man, sounds like my mom. Before I download anything, she always thinks its a scam.

It took me 2 months of constant lecturing that Steam wasn't a scam site looking for your money (Or is it? :P), and she actually called someone, paid them to come in, and asked them whether or not AVG Virus Protection was a virus/fake.

And the virsus was "Anitvirus XP 2008". It said that we had 740 something viruses and the McAffe and Nortan programs scanned our computer and didn't find a thing.

That to. Everytime I talk to people on Vent, she tells me not to talk to strangers. Shes threatened to take away my mic a few times.

They're not strangers, I know them!

sorry to hear the news man... I hope to see you back soon, and I now how you feel because my parents made me delete soldier front and I was really mad!
 
Well get your mom to read this thread also you can't get viruses from DoD ( make sure she reads this. ) My dad is a computer master i mean master and he said from steam games you can not get viruses because of......well many complicated paragraphs that i dont want to post so yeah .

My mom had this virus that he explains, it is a virus. It takes over your computer, constantly popping up telling you you have viruses. You cannot remove it. I ended up completely reformatting her computer cause even in safe mode I could not get rid of it. She got it from visiting a website and downloading a product manual.

lol you didnt get it from the game, she just wanted you to pay for it/ or doesnt know anything about computers. i virus isnt the end of the world...worst case you have to reformat your HDD and while thats annoying it just means you cant play/use ur comp of a day...you payed someone to fix it? hehe im 14 and im really glab my mom and dad arent like this, they hate how much i play but my dad knows comps so i dont get plamed with c*** like this :S...o yah and should i get DoD:S...played it a long time ago (when i was like 10)liked it but lost my steam account cuz i lost my email and steam password :S wow, that was way to long
 
Well, I can play DoD for 2 months since my sister had practice everyday and my mom and dad go to work and dont get back until like 4:30. Though, my mom just changed her password, but she'll have to give it to me because iTunes is on her account and so is DoD since she is the only administrator for the computer :mad:.

As a parent let me give you some advice. If your folks find out you've been sneaking DoD time after they've told you not to, (It doesn't matter if it was just or not), they are going to be extremely disappointed. It will be very difficult to earn (yes trust is earned not given) their trust again. They will be likely to find all kinds of ways to make your life miserable.

Give it a few weeks (I know that's like foreeeeeever) and ask, calmly, if you could play some DoD. Calm is the key. Ohh look he's growing up. Let's reward him. Tantrums trigger the That kid has to learn a lesson and for sure he is not going to be dictating to me reflex.
If they say no then say (not yell) ok and let it drop. Then ask again in a week or so. Get on their wrong side and they may never let you touch a mouse except for schoolwork.

Been there. Done that.

I completely agree.....give it a rest for a while, Steam and DOD will be here for a long time!!! :)
 
Ok. Apparently DoD is uninstalled and so is Steam
My mom probably uninstalled DoD and Steam :( :mad:.
She didn't catch me playing or anything Quaffer ;).

sorry bout not being able to play Asmith. :(
You'll get it back eventually. Just remember to write down your steam log in info, so you won't have to buy DoD:S again. I've done that... :(
 
Sorry it went that way. Give it a month and ask nicely if you can reinstall it. Acing your next report card wouldn't hurt. See you in the forums.
