I never understood this, I'm fairly new to CS:S and I see a majority of the servers are no AWP servers. I've never really used it, due to it being banned, but what makes it so overpowered? And how is it really different from the Schmidt Scout?

AWP is a one shot one kill no matter where it hits you in the body. The Scout requires skill to use, hitting someone on the body will take 2 shots on the body to kill them but if you hit someone in the head with a scout its an instant kill.
On another note the auto sniper is also banned because its really easy to kill someone with it. All the other guns require skill to use.

Awp takes a lot of skill to play WELL. Sure you can get a kill once around if you are decent, but just like any other gun, you have to have skill to back it up. Scout is a totally different sniper rifle and should in no way at ALL be compared to awp. The mechanics on it work VERY differently. It takes more to be successful with an awp than with an AK or M4. You can't spray with an awp. If you miss, you are probably going to die. If you miss with an AK or M4, you have 29 more bullets to back it up that can be fired in the time it takes to fire 2 awp bullets. It's not like the awp comes with autoaim. You have to be quick and precise with your shots and every one of them counts. Not to mention, you not only have to be good with just the awp, but the pistols as well, more so than if you are using an automatic. You have to be way more active and alert with an awp than an ak/m4.

but yhea, i just dont like them cause if you play anything more thne 10 vs 10, people sit around a corner and pop you as soon as you walk around, especially if they know they are safe from the other angle.. like side hall on office >.>
They do take alot of skill to play in say a cal match, but when theres 10+ people on each side it just gets ridiculous

Plus my friend uses the awp all the time. He will ask me to go to an empty server on cs_office and all he will do is corner snipe near the ct spawn. If you want the awp in the servers, like what fuse said everyone would be using it and like Skillbox said you should limit it to 2 per team (1 is a little too small) and remind them not to do the cheap stuff... (you don't have to remind them though)

Okay, my opinion has always been that if you get sniped every time by an AWP you are definitely doing something wrong. Not only does the AWP takes skill to use but it takes away skill you need when you are not up against AWP's or even auto snipers for that matter. There are many ways to kill a sniper whether you are good or not. If you always get tagged around a certain corner, throw a smoke grenade. I think not having them around is too easy for people with semi machine guns or rifles.
i agree with oldie on this...I'm our servers, or any other servers that have more than a 20 player max, almost everyone uses AWP, and nothing ever gets done until the #1 person uses and AK to kill all the AWP-ers. and when there are AWPs in a server, everyone complains that there is not enough money and the server usually ends up making everyone start with 16K.
