It could be fun to do convoy again, but the name just brings back that song all over again. The last time I played convoy, I played Pyro and was managing a 8:1 DKR every life, it was insane.

This was MY idea. so dont flame garden. i had to hide his meds to get him to make this poll. Convoy is a great map, not v2. Since its been gone for so long i thought it would be a good change to what we have. If it was up to me it would be floodzone V2 but the map doesnt work correctly in over time. So, i had him try Convoy again.

Also this will be replacing the arena maps server.

I like this idea. I think it'd be great for the Rotation server to have some maps on RTV that aren't normally in the rotation. It'd definitely give some opportunities to try out some new maps, and give us the opportunity to see a map's popularity before it's given its own server.

Yeah, that's one reason I'm not too fond of Convoy. It seems to be designed as a map more with Snipers in mind to killing people on the opposite cars, Soldiers/Demomen to hop across, and Engineers to play defense. Since I don't play any of these classes too frequently, I find myself spending most of my time fighting over the small bridge. In my opinion, a CTF map needs more than one way for a team to get into the opposing base.

It's interesting to look at the poll, though. We're pretty much divided down the middle for those of us who have played on the map. It seems like Convoy has a pretty good following based on requests I've seen (which is probably why it's being brought back), so hopefully it'll do fairly well regardless.

Convoy is THE map that got me into EGO in the first place. I loved it, played it all the flippin time. It's where Con showed me that Demo's are the most annoying creation on the face of the planet, where I loved the pyro and began a deep hatred for sniper....oh the memories....

wait im confused... this WOULD be replacing arena or "its a done deal and will be" be replacing arena.

because IMHO a 24/7 convoy will NOT draw as many people long run as the arena maps server currently does.

SHure you might see a momentary uptick in server population over a few days. but as the "newness" wears off (fairly quickly) IMHO it will drop below current arena maps population. Which was the essence of my suggestion about including it in a rotation server. A fun map to play for some change of pace, but it is not good enough for 24/7 status again.

Definitely props to the Council for allowing the discussion. It always makes me feel like a more integral part of eGO when I feel like I can give some feedback on how some of the big decisions are made.

I think that would be a good idea.. Would allow us to have other customs in that vote list as well.. like Toy_Fort? Maybe?

As for Convey, I voted no. I really don't like that map all that much...

when we had Convoy, it topped out at roughly 40 something. The current rank on the Arena map server (as of yesterday) was 156.

My orginal idea was to do something with GOLDRUSH/BADWATER but that was Quickly shot down.

a Custom rotation server in the past has not worked so thats why were always trying a 24/7 model.

I browsed through all the servers in the top 100 and their is alot of custom and unsual maps to choose from. Nothing around here is perm. and were just trying things to see what works. Convoy was all i could come up with that DOES draw people even if someone else already uses that map already.
