Admin Classes!

I'd give them an 8. Those 2 points go to me just learning as an e watching other admins. Things such as, what words and names aren't allowed, and how to treat borderline subjects.

Are they worth going to?

0, being non-informational, 10 being very informational.


Any suggestions?

I'm going with an 8; I think RESPAWN did an excellent job (and I just attended the admin school last night) but aside from the situational, here's the best way to cope, etc - the technical part was all covered.

Perhaps split it in to two sections: one for people who need to learn (or want a refresher) of the ins and outs of the technical stuff like chatting, console commands, etc, and another section that specifically covers the 'human' aspect of adminning.

It's kind of like I've heard military basic training described: it teaches you some, but you won't learn everything until you're in the field

This is exactly true. There are literally so many grey areas, it would be impossible to cover them in an entire day's worth of admin class.


One thing I'd like to point out, just in case someone hasn't seen it: The Q&A forum. For eG's and up, you can find this in the Admin School forum. This is a great place to ask any questions you may have in regard to the grey areas regarding names, language uses, even things you may think are exploits.

I rate the one I attended with Troth 10 => everything was explained.

Is there much point attending more than one, especially sinse there is the private forum for queries, which also contains all of the commands you need?

In my opinion admin school doesn't really teach you anything that isn't in the stickies besides some useful binds. It's just another boundary between people living in other timezones and eGO.
