Anyone feeling it?

i'm going to have to agree with dieinpeace about targeting top players: my personal play style is not to take out any player based on their name, it's more based on the class they're playing, and/or how it will help the team. snipers, for instance, are a favorite. that means i'm harassing josey and ronin a bunch, but it's because they're snipers; i stalk them all equally ;)
i also agree with westside, because i have been known to target someone kamikaze style if they've been dominating me for a while. however, the name doesn't come into play here either, they've got a big "nemesis" balloon over their head; pretty easy to spot
i'm really looking forward to the spy update; i'm really hoping for some quality new tricks :w00t:

Yeah, Frisky I didn't play enough with you to know if I got facestabbed or not by you, but mostly the spy hatred comes from Galkafisher. I cannot blame him for sacrificing killing me in front of lv3 sentryguns, he gets atleast 25 points probably, and taking me out of the game is a good way of supporting his team to advance, in his eyes probably a good deal, but there was a time he just couldn't stop targeting me, over and over and over for weeks, where the game pretty much lost his fun because of this, couldnt play relaxed since galkafisher was always trying to stab me.

Also when I am dominating people what happens a lot of times especially during stage 2 and 3 of dustbowl, people switch to spies to get revenge kills, that is also pretty annoying.

Also I think the competitive side of me has something to do with it, I always wanted to become nr 1 in the rankings, therefore if galka was around I just couldn't get any points since I need about 12 kills just to compensate for 1 death, not really easy to climb the ladders with a sacrifical spy around. I guess that is why I am a bit more frustrated about spies then normal. But when I am nr 1 in the rankings I do not worrie that much anymore about the stats since I already achieved my goal.

And Cr@sh, I do believe you have a good point there, but I am still enjoying this game a lot, and I am pretty sure I won't stop playing either, but it is the little things that make you a lot more frustrated then they use to do.

I really liked the updates they made. Don't know why you're "raging". :S

Maybe I made myself a bit unclear. I meant that I have never gotten mad at something that has happened in a game before. With facestabs I feel like someone is "winning" over me, because of a glitch. I'm competitive by nature, so this has me 'raging'.

I don't think it's the game that is losing it's fun, I think it's the person who is playing that is losing interest.

I still enjoy playing TF2, but has I said above, it's these single events I mentioned in my first post, that makes TF2 lose it's fun. But I guess I'll get used to it and adjust. Like I did with the Sandman.

I havent lost any intrest. Getting mad at changes is not a good idea they are bound to happen so u just have to adapt. Plus the spy changes were a nice change for the class. I also just change up what map and class im playing so i dont tired of them.

Cl!ff
-Stop playing for stats.
-The fact that someone, by means of being cheap I'll give you that, is taking out one of the best players on our servers is beneficial to the team. Letting you have your way with a team might be fun for you but not the other team. Kind of getting a taste of your own medicine.

This game is still fun for me, I do have my off periods though, but only when my RPG side needs to breathe. Just relax and enjoy the game, start playing classes/maps you don't normally play.

Yeah you are right, I usually take out the top demoman and heavies if I run into them, don't see a like spies, but I can tell who is who by their movement, but I am just too competitive sometimes and wanted to achieve my ultimate goal, but if you check my signature and my previous post, you see I can relax now ;)

Just wanted to bring back eGO to the top

Or people that want that revenge kill, or people that know how many points cl!ff is worth and just want to farm points

I do go for revenge kills(not that it matters I'm a worthless spy), normally I taunt them in chat thou to get them to come after me..Point farming is stupid even thou I do enjoy staying on the plus side of it..I'm happy staying at my 24k on ego servers.

Is it just me or is TF2 starting to get less enjoyable?

Here's why I think so.

Wow, this was amazing! They fixed facestab! They also removed sidestab! Spies probably thought this sucked. But let me tell you this, it's called backstab for a reason. Spy is my most played class with 40 hours played, so don't call me a biased Heavy. This update also made Spies able to see the health of enemy players, that's a really huge advantage. Think about it. You storm as a pyro flaming the whole team and make a narrow escape with 30HP left. A spy see that you're low on HP and takes you out with the revolver from long range. That's not cool. It would be okay if this was the unlock for the disguise kit. Like 5 seconds longer disguise timer, but you can see the players' health. I would use that upgrade. Switching weapons should also be a disguise kit unlock.

Soon to follow, after (many?) compaints they re-enabled the sidestab, why would they do that? They listen to the community? Yeah, but theres has to be a limit. Why not make shouldershots crit as a headshot because all of the Snipers say so. It's the same principle.

And then, the hitbox 'fix' that disabled crouchjump (But that was fixed fast, great job actually, Valve) and removed an abuseable glitch, which was goodm of course. BUT this update, really must have messed with the backstab code. After this update I have been getting more facestabbed then backstabbed, and that's the truth. I know play testers can't test if facestabs happens more frequently, but it must have happened at least once and Valve said they fixed it, so they should know something's not right.

They said they fixed this, but they didn't. This still happens very often for me.

I have never raged at a game before, but wow. TF2 has me really upset at times. Maybe it's just the passion for this, mostly, epic game.

Thank you for reading, I just had to blow some steam. See you on Valve maps or maybe Warpath!

Does anyone agree/disagree? Discuss!

I sidestab is necessary, otherwise, a Sniper could just put his back to a wall and not fear Spies, which is not what should be happening. However, with the return of sidestabs returns facestabs, so breaking one appears to break the other, it seems.

And the flamethrower loop only happens when you are critting. They forgot to fix it for the crit animation.

If I'm not mistaken the backstab code is based ENTIRELY upon where you are at in relation to the other person, not where you are stabbing. For example, if you are next to a person but a LITTLE bit behind him, in that very large 180 degree field, any stab you make on that person is a backstab. It doesn't matter if you stab at his back or his face or his shoes. Of course I'm not 100% sure on that.

No facestabs still clearly happen. I had a guy test this with me once in an empty server. About 1/5 times, when he was clearly in front of me as a Spy, uncloaked, and he stabbed me, it resulted in a facestab. This is while we are not moving, btw.

Spies being able to see the other team = major Valve fail. And, facestabs are as much a part of TF2 as the heavy. :D

I really don't mind that Spies are able to see the enemy team. But I really hate that Spies can see other cloaked Spies. I mean, wtf is up with that?

Facestabs still exist. I HATE facestabbers. Facestabs seem to happen even more after Valve's so called "fix".

I think everyone is forgetting that "facestabs" are not a glitch but rather a result of lag compensation. Part of the reason why they made the backstabs "super fast" was to try and fix this. What may look like a "facestab" from your perspective maybe be a perfectly legit backstab.

Go ahead, spec a spy and see what possesions his victims are immediatly before the stab. You'll realize that people usually don't stand still, especially in combat. This is what causes "facestabs".

P.S. Just because you've never "raged" at a game doesn't mean the updates were not needed.

Okay, listen.

My friend and I went into an empty server. He was a spy, I was a Scout, we are both standing still.

1/5 times a knife stab to the face resulted in a facestab.

Facestabs exist, and they are terrible.

The funny thing is as soon as valve releases some little tiny update 3/4 of the fixes in the last update get broken.

Sandman got nerfed

I now get facestabbed at least once a day. Of course now it hits you at mach 5.

Next patch natascha will break again.

Like billy mays says

I guarantee it

Yeah, seriously, the guys at valve must have phones hidden in their cigarette lighters and lighters hidden in their phones.

Please show me proof because I don't believe you.

p.s. I hope you guy aren't thinking that a knife kill is "facestab" . Regular knife melee does 40-60 dmg, so it is possible to get knife killed from the front. Just wanted to make sure you guys weren't making a mistake.

knifings don't make the critical sounds, it even shows it on the scoreboard and it scares the heck out of me everytime I get a front(back)stab, with a knifing it isn;t that scary at all, you aren't even flying 2000 feet away
