Our Dustbowl server..

I have thought about this, and well, in Dustbowl, there is Bound to be steamrolling, cos after all, its one team on attack one on defence. So if one good push from the beggining wipes out the defenders, and then immediatley rushes to the next point. It is because of teamwork. My rugby coach always used to say "A team is only as good as their weakest player" and it's true. If you have someone struggling and needs some help somewhere, you go and help them. Use your microphones to coordinate your team. See if you have any medics or not, if not go a medic. A team that moves together, attacks together, defends together is probably a team that will win. What will happen if you have a pyro or a demo, or a soldier rushing in alone. He'll die, if he isn't lucky. When I first got TF2, I didn't like using my mic, and I couldn't understand how people were fine talking with random strangers over the internet. When I finally started using my mic, after I had joined eGO, I started to become a better player, because people started helping me in-game.

For those of you who don't want to read:

Teamwork is a must.
Don't go running out alone, go for a team rush.
Use your mic if you have one.
A team is only as good as it's weakest player - help that player/those players.

Another huge problem... class limits.

Sometimes someone will suggest something like "Hey lets heavy rush" "All go pyro" etc.. When this catches on and people start listening they follow along. The bad thing about this is that it's almost "impossible" to stop an attack of that kind. It's kind of cheating the game and sort of breaks the rules about exploiting the way it should be played. A team is most times rolled as a result of this. On the egypt server once, we had someone suggesting everyone go engineer.. we had 12 engineers on our team. Needless to say no one made it to the last point. Even with like 20 ubers or whatever..

Worse is that this happens on many servers, not just eGO servers..

Class rushes are generally possible to deal with. The reason they work so well is that the other team is unprepared for the large number of that class and as a result is ill equipped to handle twelve Pyros when they were expecting, say, two. What's supposed to happen is that the opposing team will then adjust its tactics to meet this temporary change in play style. Typically rushes will only work once on a server, as once it is done once the shock value of the situation is removed and the enemy team knows what to expect.

Ironically, it's a video for an eGO event that is the example of a sniper rush on TF2 wiki.

This is pure win, I agree with Midget

Maybe I should just start joining winning teams as a spy, that should balance things out pretty well :P

WE NEED A BETTER METHOD TO BALANCE TEAMS.

-people switching teams to be on the winning team, including members of eGO which is entirely disheartening

-too many people rage quitting

-disrespect toward other players with zero discipline by the admins in the server

-one team getting pummeled round after round and no one attempting do anything to fix it, but rather hinder it, as stated above

-people joining spectator to force an autobalance and then join the opposite team

With that said... why would I want to play on the eGO Dustbowl server?

Am I alone?

We gave it to our admins. They couldn't use it wisely. It was taken away.

People switching to the 'winning' team is against our rules, it should be admin'd. And if you see ANY member, especially our admins switching like that, let an Advisor know.

People ragequit all the time, TF2 is an online fps.

Disrespect is something that should be admin'd. But you should realize that a lot of the players on Dustbowl are regulars and they are most likely joking around. There is a difference.

Now to your question about, why you would want to join Dustbowl. Probably because it's the most competitive server around. I've never been in a more challenging atmosphere in any other TF2 server out there, both eGO and non-eGO servers. If that's not your thing, if you want to just be laid back while you play, I suggest you try out some of our other servers.

If you see disrespect or people switching teams illegally (not through autobalance) then get an admin to handle it. If you see that an admin is breaking OUR rules or you feel they aren't doing their duties find an Advisor and talk to them.

A lot of people have given some good insight into what you can do personally to help out the team, so I won't go there.

Are you alone? Probably not. But I guarantee you that I've played on our Dustbowl server A LOT more than you or 99% of our members. Complaining on the forums doesn't help your team on the server.
