What was the first class you ever played?

Engineer....I started as Engineer on the 2Fort Server...eGO SERVER BABY....It was a great way to learn how to play by watching other characters.....until i started trying to play offensively and i hear "SPAH SAPPIN MAH SENTRY!!!!" I was like what the heck...

I think it was Medic. Someone mentioned that even a poor Medic is can contribute to the team. When I see that there are one or fewer medics on the team I still go medic. Though I would like to play the other classes more.

Tip for all you guys screaming medic! When the medic is trying to hit you with his healing, stand still. When he locks on you can jump and weave all you want. When he hits you with an uber charge, make sure not to zig zag through the doorways too quick or he'll lose the lock and waste the uber, and your life.

Engineer, basic understanding of travel paths gets you started and lets you observe how to play other classes and learn.

Prior to playing TF2, I watched a few videos on how to play spy. They looked easy enough, so I loaded up TF2 for the first time, joined a server (might have even been eGOs, not sure), and choose spy. I went into the game with full confidence that I could easily imitate what the guy did in the video. I choose spy and started attempting to do what they did in the video. I was killed by a pyro about 10 seconds out of spawn. I rage quit.

Very first map I played was the one with trains (cp_well, thanks iRC!) and I believe I choose Heavy. I remember because I got my first achievement there (Iron Kurtain? - Take 1000 damage in one life). Though I don't really count that as my first "class", since I only played for 5 minutes tops.

My second map, which I call "First" was 2fort as a Sniper. I had no idea what the other classes were and Sniper seemed pretty reasonable. I played CS:S mostly before and "knew" how to properly play a Sniper. I soon learned to kill someone without a headshot is by charging up, or keeping the gun scoped in. I was so used to CS:S that I would press "qq" to quick-switch after a shot. Didn't work very well. ;P

I call that my first because that was the game where I really got into TF2. I wasn't Sniper for long, as I saw the "Overpowered", 100% aim Sentry Guns and switched to Engineer. All I did was camp by my teleports which I only took to get as many as possible and whack my Sentry. Yeah, I got bored fast and switched to Pyro and was pretty easy to learn. Pyro had been my main class for quite some time, but now I often fluctuate different classes whenever I'm on TF2.

Engi, just sat there and turtled because I didn't know how to anything else -- back in tfc.

When i started tf2 i knew what to do and picked up soldier first.

First class i tried was soldier, can play both offense/defense. The first class I really played for the first hours of game play was medic. There's just something about saving your team members lives.

Spy was my first class, but i failed badly then played demoman and went back to playing spy after learning about OMFGNINJA tutorials and my spy playing sky rocketed.

engineer was the first class i remember playing and really enjoying this game with

I killed so many people on some random server with my SG, it was awesome

pyro since i was so amused they way he do stuff in tf2 when i watched ignus solus before buying tf2 :D

Engineer. I wasn't used to aiming or anything, so I adapted to the playing style of other engineers I saw around Warpath and followed their examples. I learned pretty quickly, started learning Scout, then Medic, and once I got to know the usual patterns, I moved onto Spy.

I specifically remember playing heavy first. I thought his gun looked so cool (while running around with sasha) The last fps I played was from 2001, so I thought the gun looked amazing.

I started playing Medic actually. I used to be an amazing medic back in the 90s in competition games... Quickly followed by scout/sniper/spy (in that order, too).

I was told that Medic and Pyro were the noob classes to play, Medic was better because you could learn how other classes work. So I played Medic, did an okay job. Also played W+M1 Pyro for a while...now they're my highest played classes, and I am, of course, most proficient with them :P.
