How would you fix [X]...

Everybody has those weapons that are hardly noticeable. You even laugh to yourself when you see someone using it, or cringe when you die from it.

I was going to originally post this about my idea of how to fix the Dead Ringer, but it seemed like a very vague concept. So to make it more generic, how would you fix those items that it too strong or weak...

To point out some obvious ones
Razorback
Bonk
Natasha
Dead Ringer
Syringe Gun

Dead Ringer
A lot of people argue that the cloak is too short, or the full charge being wasted makes the DR not worth it, but in my humble opinion, I think we can keep both of these attributes the same if we compensate with something else. The shorter you are cloaked, the quieter the DR's decloak is, ranging from absolute silence (0-1 second) to how it is now (complete 6 second cloak). I think this could add more strategy to the DR, and actually make quickly reappearing to be worth it.

Bonk
Drink on the go. Make it so you are allowed to move while you drink this. I don't know how many times I've died while drinking this drink, or forced to redrink it, because some rocket or minigun hit barely budged me, causing the drinking to stop.

Syringe Gun
Possibly give the needles a Natasha slowing effect or larger clips/faster reload

Natasha
The main benefit of this gun is it's slowing capabilities, but it just makes the enemies as slow as heavies...while not winding up. I suggest HVG can move at his normal speed when this gun is being fired (not wound however, this would make the shotgun void). Another suggestion would be giving the heavy some knockback resistance, like Natasha's bullets are so heavy they slow enemies and keep HVG rooted to the ground.

SMG
Everybody says its worthless. Everybody knows its worthless. Some people defend it saying they work on scouts and spies, but honestly you aren't using it. You're just firing randomly. The SMG could use a serious bonus to accuracy.

Huntsman
The weapon in itself is fine, but when you become a victim of turning around the wrong corner unknowingly, it feels like a really cheap weapon. Give the arrows a little bit of a louder Whoosh when they travel near you.

Cloak and Dagger: Take 2 seconds off the overall cloak time but normalize the drain rate to what it would be normally, running walking w/e. Also increase the recharge rate.

Sandvich: Give you the ability to cancel it.

Razorback: Simple, give it a respawn time

imo Natascha doesnt need fixed, if anything I die more because of it than Sasha.
SMG is good, if you learn its capabilities etc. I just think people don't give it a fair chance.

The weapon I think needs fixed?

Cloak and Dagger. It really annoys me how long it has to charge up while you are cloaked. It takes forever! I think it should have the normal cloak regen time, and the normal time to have when cloaked. Just not able to pick up ammo etc. I find it easier with normal cloak and finding weapons on the ground, than waiting for the Cloak and Dagger to regen.

imo Natascha doesnt need fixed

Second. The natascha shows her claws in wide and open ground where enemies (like scouts) try to run in circles around you. I've found that natasch is at it's best in Black mesa, while standing on A. You can slow down the enemies at the cat walks which makes it easier to kill them for your team mates.
It's a great gun (imo), it just doesn't work at the same places as Sascha :)

KGB need a longer crit boost. F-A-N needs to do 150dmg if all pellets hit at point blanc, so theoretically, a heavy can be killed if you follow through. BB needs to register the crits more often. Syringe gun poisons people so the more syringes, the more potent, 1 needle takes a minuit, 40 takes 10 seconds etc. dead ringer should make less of a noise, as should the CnD.

Syringe gun definitely needs a boost, I don't know if anyone uses that after getting the blutsauger (obviously hard to tell though).

Giving the heavy a slight speed boost while firing Natasha would probably work alright.

The SMG is way better than Jarate and the Razorback while using the Huntsman; in fact, I would say that the SMG already got its boost; the huntsman makes it indispensable (at least the way I play).

It might just be my reflexes, but it seems like there's a slight delay when releasing the huntsman. Obviously one can get used to this in most cases, but coming around corners it seems I'm always dead before I can release the arrow. Apparently either my reflexes or this weapon need to be fixed.

The blutsauger poisoning idea is nice, it should be like a much weaker version of fire or something.

The Cloak and Dagger should let you stab while cloaked.

Just kidding.

How to fix the backburner

Don't use it. Compression blast is much more useful and versatile.

I've gotten a ton of kills using the SMG. Like has been said above, it's a great weapon if used the right way. It isn't a sniper rifle... you have one of those.... its for scouts or unexpected close range firefights, use it as such and it is amazing. It crits all the time for me too. If jarate didn't get me more assists I would be using the SMG again.

I've tried to use the SMG a ton before the sniper update, but I found just no scoping the sniper rifle was much more effective and much more reliable than using the smg to kill scouts. The same goes with the revolver, I don't use the ambassador because it headshots (though it is nice), I use it because it is a reliably accurate weapon.

The syringe gun poison is an ok idea, but I don't like the idea of having yet another duration effect. Burning is the pyros thing, and I don't think any other class should have a dot, and Jarate is a unique exception, but if too many classes have it, it loses its spark. Maybe a Syringe gun that increases damage by 2% per needle up until the full 35% jarate mini-crits

And why did the thread get a 1 out of 5 stars =( Was this thread too unoriginal? I would hope that the thread wasn't rated down just for the my opening ideas, seeing as the thread is not solely based on my opinions

I DO NOT want the scout to be able to one shot another scout or a sniper...or even a spy. I am a scout, the only reason i don't use the FaN is because it has 2 shells, if it had 3, I would use it...maybe 4.

Bonk! Atomic Punch:
I would change this unlockable completely.
  1. Up the duration from 6 to 8 or 9 seconds (cooldown stays at 6 to 7 seconds).
  2. Makes the Scout faster (I am not sure about the numbers but I thought of about 20 or 30% faster). For the whole duration of the cooldown you stay at the Heavy's speed.
  3. Bullets still don't harm you! Explosives and other projectiles still knock you back and deal the original damage.

The Sandman:
Another weapon I would completely redo.
  1. It is no longer a stun. It is a concussion now. Distance strengthens the effect. The concussion is only mildly annoying. It shakes your screen a bit. It's only visual, your weapons are still as accurate and the crosshair stays in the middle of the screen. The concussion does not affect your aim at all, well, unless you get affected by the screen shaking. It's a weapon for annoying and pissing off the enemy while giving you a slight advantage over the enemy.
  2. It still affects ?bers.
  3. It does not take 10 seconds to "recharge" anymore. From now on it needs 6 seconds.

Backburner:
This weapons needs some of its old "grace" back! While I agree that 50 HP was too much (combined with the old damage buff) I do think that the Backburner now needs an extra 25 HP to compet with the Airblast. Too bad the Airblast is still superior. Just don't use the Backburner people. :P

Sandvich:
This neat little lunch needs a slight buff. I would not give you the ability to cancel it. That would destroy the purpose of "waiting until the situation is clear". However, I do think you should be able to move while you eat. If you are running away while you are eating your sandvich, every bite heals for 50% of the original health. You also move slower.

Syringe Gun/Blutsauger:
People should have a reason to use this weapon. Now, since the Blutsauger has the ability to drain health from the enemy I think we should remove the passive medic regeneration from the Blutsauger. The Syringe Gun would be worth using now, since you can get passively healed every second, though, I believe we should up that a bit. It should heal you for 2/3/4 health every second instead of the usual 1/2/3. I would love to have this.

Kritzkrieg:
This is only a minor complaint. I think the taunt should heal you for 15 or even 20 HP instead of 10. Right now, it is a joke.

Bonesaw/?bersaw:
The ?bersaw is vastly superior! To even it out a bit, I thought of giving the Bonesaw the ability to already start the ?ber at 85% charged if needed. This would even things out a bit. It stills needs one minor buff, in my eyes. Since the ?bersaw still charges faster if you hurt the enemy, we could remove a precious second of the ?ber/Kritzkrieg charge if you use the ?bersaw. This would balance things out, I guess.

Razorback:
The Razorback should recharge every 30 seconds. And since it slows you down and removes another weapon of yours it should grant you a nice 25 HP. Now it's worth using!

Dead Ringer:
This is not really a buff or nerf but rather a fix. Currently the Dead Ringer only has 5 seconds of cloak, not the promised 8.
I think that since it removes your whole cloak no matter how long it is used, you should be able to recharge it by picking up ammo. It just wouldn't recharge as much with picking up ammo as the Invisibility Watch.

Yeah, anything that makes the backburner worth using over the airblast is going to be way OP.

I 100% agree with all of this.

I agree with everything that you said Calle, except this. I believe it should be a "random" percentage of health, based on your current health, ranging from 20-70%, with it being more towards 35-55%, but occasionally you can get as low as 20% or as high as 70%.

I think valve already considered how the weapons should be and made them that way and people should stop complaining about things that will never change.

Valve will release more weapons someday probably. and continue to do so for all classes. and people will complain about those too.

I'd rather see less whining and less cheap deaths. IE stupid scouts FAN 1Hit killing me as a full health heavy who just walked out of the spawn room
