eGO Road Trip! (Movin' to Minnesota!)

Clothing - a good jacket will last me to about 15-20 degrees. That is for normal daily use. If I plan on ice fishing/shoveling/hunting/hanging out outside, then I'll put on a coat, hat, gloves (as needed). Jeans is all you need for the bottom half. I don't use a scarf. Thats just me, I love the cold.
Ha, ice fishing, the state sport :P sit on a bucket freezing your butt off for hours on end over frozen water which is in turn over almost freezing water while holding a two foot long fishing pole over a hole you drill in the ice.* We're an odd bunch here.

Winters - your Texas car will hate you, then start rusting from the excessive amount of salt on the roads, then fall apart and be labeled a "winter car". (slight exaggeration on the falling apart part)
Good thing to mention, I didn't think of that. Yeah, whenever you can do it without freezing the doors shut, wash your car during the winter, too - especially the bottom. And if you want to see what happens to cars that aren't taken care of here, check out the junkyards - I hear cars get scrapped down south that look better than the cars a lot of people drive here.

My additions, although you went into this on the last page a bit too. Also, you can look into getting heaters installed under your cars' hoods, so that you can actually plug them in and get the oil thinned out a bit.

*actually, sit around with friends on the middle of a lake drinking beer then drive a beater truck around on the ice like a maniac, for most people >_>

Yeah Lance, driving on the lakes is my favorite part of ice fishing. Nothing says crazy like taking your car and driving it on a frozen lake.

There are plenty of bikes up here, but I never see any of them in the winter.

Have a safe trip.

Minnesota... you should pick up hockey while you're up there. :P

Grats! I live in Dallas, maybe you could stop by and say hello ;)

DUDE HICKORY PARK RESTAURANT IN AMES, IOWA GO THERE amazing ribs and just a great place to eat

You jerk! Leaving and taking my brother with you to boot! My only real friend. ;_;

Oh, and my only brother, too, I guess...

We offered for you to come, but Nooo, their Natural Gas place isn't the same. Anyways, I may have to bring a bike if things keep getting worse. My van needs its Gas Tank dropped and even after that we don't know if it'll run properly. The front right tire has a flat spot and needs replacing, but more importantly Autos van needs a whole set of tires. Not new but just good enough to get us there and then we gotta get him some Snow Tires. By the way, any suggestions on the Anti-freeze mix?

Let me know if you or anyone else here wants to meet up.

I am in Blaine, MN.

Mall of America is a place to see also. Maybe us cold folks could all meet up there sometime.

Dang, not that far off route through St. Paul. That would make two Community Managers we'll meet in person.

Stop D has been moved up to Ames, Iowa. That will be our "full stop" after day 2, meaning around 5-6 PM on Tuesday. We'll look up some lodging in the area, and maybe can meet up with you if you're available, HaZal2d0uS. Any advice? Good Hotel 6?

Sorry I haven't responded.
If you don't wanna stay at a hotel you can come to my place. My roommate won't move in until the 15th. I'll just be moved in, will of course have the PC setup and have some fun!
I'm completely free, I'll make sure to take the day off so we can hang out. (last Tuesday I didn't make any money anyways... don't feel bad. I hate work :D)

Bane's idea is pretty much a good bet. If you want to just hang out and get some food or something, that'd be a good place. I'm guessing you've been around ISU Bane? :D

PM me!
I'll give you my cell # so you can get ahold of me when you're getting close/get here.

Finalizing details!

Current Route: Google Maps!

Just got new tires and new brake lights, so we're good to go. T-{time until we leave}.

The plan is as follows:

1. Leave Kemp, Texas at 9 AM, Monday.
2. Arrive in Oklahoma City, OK, at about 2-3 PM. Hang out with the eGO Crew (zippy, mrcool, and XO) there for up to an hour, depending on road conditions and whatnot. I'd like to leave here by 4...
3. ...and arrive at Fayetteville, AR around 8-9ish. The drive better be as pretty as you say, or I'm expecting my money back! HAHA. The first day ends in Fayetteville (If road conditions favor us, maybe we can get a photo op with Die Geheimwaffe while we are there :D .)

4. Day two begins in Fayetteville at 9AM, Tuesday. Ames, IA's arrival time is 6-7PM. Here we will meet and greet and grub at HICKERY PARK RESTAURANT (!!!). This dinner better be as awesome as you say, or I"m expecting my money back! HAHA. We'll spend the night here. Any luck finding a DDR machine around here? Preferably DDR Extreme. HAHA. See you there, HaZal2d0uS!

5. Day three begins in Ames, IA, at about 9AM, Wednesday (hopefully!). We will be in St. Paul around 1 ish, according to Google. But I'm sure traffic and my Ryoga style direction sense will serve us well. We'll be hangin' out there, checkin' out the Capitol building and sayin' Hi to !Woodstock!, and anyone else who lives around there who would like to come say Hi. We'll stay there maybe an hour or two.

6.) We can't drive all that way and not say Hi to Kendle (I don't want to be permabanned for inpoliteness). Blaine, MN is about 30 minutes out from St. Paul, and it's where we'll be going right after the Capitol Shindig to say our Hellos.

7) After that, we'll point our nose toward the cold(er) and make our way to Sebeka, where we will be pitching our tent. I have it on good faith that the high speed internet up there is at least par with what I have here in Kemp, so we should be able to check in on the forums there.

PMs are enroute. Y'all should have them in your inbox within the hour. If you want to meet up and haven't gotten a PM, PM me back and I'll hook you up. The PM will contain my cell phone number. If you send me your number back, I'll put you in my phone book to make sure I don't hang up on you thinking you're a crank. (Long story short, used phone number for business, it got posted, now every local yokel has it :D. I hope this won't happen with you guys! HAHA)

Also, you can follow the trip on Twitter, here: http://twitter.com/AutoDMC (Warning! Some political stuff in there. I've used Twitter only twice... for this move, and as an experiment with a political app to see if it'd actually show twitter updates that disagreed with their message. It didn't :D) I'll be posting "reciept reminders" (to make sure I don't lose any reciepts for my trip) and status updates as I go along, including pictures if I can get TwitPic and my smartphone to talk with each other.

Yay! ROADTRIP! Update: My Van is down for the count. Couldn't even make it out of the driveway to test it. So we're ganna drop the tank, but since we cannot guarantee he'll run even after that... its Auto's van only. Kinda sad to leave Bruno down here. http://i402.photobucket.com/albums/pp105/chrishyuga/100_0747.jpg He would of loved to drive into the cold. But I'll have to wait now till I can get him drove up to me.

He, heeeee. Bad Woodstock. And you got the money to fix'im? Or actually, you know exactly what to do to fix him? Cause we're guessing here. Its somthing we've never had happen before. And its original mechanic lives 8 hours away.

Kendle lives in Blaine too?!?!

I would meet up since i live in Blaine, but i have class and work all week.

okay awesome tip for living up north: Dont get caught in a blizzard Lolwut
