So, my $20 USB Microsoft 3 button mouse is semi broken.

Last night I was destroying people in the CoD4 Crossfire server and my Mouse2 FALLS OFF. The button is loose and just sits on my mouse, the microswitch (idk if mice use a microswitch so w/e) still works fine, but only if I can keep the actual button on it.

I don't know what was holding the button on, there's a hook that wraps around a little spot, and it wraps around it, but the button still slides off.

Nothing seems to be broken/unglued or anything so I don't understand why it is loose.

If I put my finger at the very front of it and hold it in place by clicking while pushing it back it'll stay on, but every time I adjust my finger it comes loose and almost falls off.

Please don't just say buy a new mouse, I just spent over $400 the last couple of days on stuff needed in my actual life, I don't have the money to buy a new mouse, at least not right now.

EDIT: This mouse is only like 2-3 months old.

Yeah you cant fix that unless you get a new part for it which isnt really worth getting.

I could mail you an old one i have... (that works)

it's hard to not say just buy a new mouse, but since you can't right now, you could try....

If it's just one button that's broke, what about mapping that buttons function to another button on the mouse?

You said it was the mouse 2 that broke; mmm...could you assign mouse 2 function to the scroll-wheel click? (if your mouse has that option, that is) if not the scroll wheel click, pick another button that feels comfortable and try it.

This should be a short-term fix though; you'll need something to get you by. If there's a local computer shop in your area, don't hesitate to walk in and ask for a 2 dollar mouse; chances are they have something cheap (and definetly used) lying around. I know Directron (in Houston) has boxes of old mice lying in a corner for just this reason...

Hope this helps

Crack that baby open and take a look at it. See if there are any broken parts, and I think pictures would help.

Saeten: Lemme know how much money you wanna send me for a new one.

Stryck: Bleh, I don't see anything broken though, not even anything that was once glued or something.

Reflex: If I knew you I would give you my address lol, but shipping costs money anyway and I don't want anyone to pay for my mouse.

Ducttape: LOL! Dude I have done this before, I don't know why I thought of that. By the way, this crappy mouse is FROM my local computer shop.

GBear:The Mouse2 is off right now I'm looking around, seeing if I can tape the button down, and my camera is in my friend's car.

EDIT: I see what broke, this little hook goes underneath a lip INSIDE the mouse and it has a little spike on it for pressing the actual mouse2 button, the edges of it are white and uneven like it broke. BLEHHHH Gonna use Mouse3 as Mouse2 for now.
EDIT2: I'm gonna brush a little super glue on the edges of the snapped part and see if that'll fix it.

if you got a little local computer shop there is prolly a pile of crap mouses there that they want to get rid of so that would be a temp fix at least.

Lol what do you want us to do, donate a mouse to you? Just get a G5 and if you take care of it it'll last forever. Trust me.

True, I bought a new HP pc and the wireless mouse I bought had a USB sensor, ( Like all of them ) And it got stuck inside the mouse when I put it back, so I spent 60 bucks on a high quality piece of crap?

You know... I went without a mouse for 2 months...
I quit gaming completely; now it wasn't in the middle of the summer... it was the last 2 months of my sophomore year at college... I didn't really miss it too much, since I knew I didn't have a mouse, and didn't want to spend $50 for the one I wanted... I did without.

Now, my computer at the time was a laptop, so I was still "operational" ...
Gaming shouldn't take priority over real life events ;) go out n have some fun!

If your going to get a new mouse, and if you aren't you really should consider it! Then get this-
raton-saitek-cyborg.jpg

It's a Saitek Cyborg Mouse and if you have the cash you should get the matching keyboard as well! ;)
Go to there site HERE

P.S. I know about the Razor mice but they are on the expensive side.

I think everyone forgot you said you don't want to buy a new mouse. . .

to throw in my two cents whenever you decide to buy a new mouse. go for the g5 from logitech i've been using mine for just about 2 years and i am hard on my mice and it's held up just fine.

Razer Deathadder. Simply a magnificent mouse. Get it. Now.

Yeah, Razors aren't that expensive and that's a very good mouse. Personally, I have a Logitech G9, and it's a good mouse. It really depends on your style though. I don't like to keep my hand around the entire mouse. Instead, I almost float on my hand on top of it so the G9 works best for me I think.

lol I'd say it's time to pick up a new mouse. Try looking into Razer products. They're a little on the pricey side but holy they're awesome mice. I picked up a DeathAdder last month and I'm never going to switch back from Razer products.

Thanks for all the feedback guys.

If I don't get a standard $20 optical mouse it will probably be a Logitech or a Razer.

GBear: Yeah I play like that too, but I've been holding my Mouse2 on with my finger the last few days, every time I move my finger the button comes loose and I gotta fix it lol.

EDIT: Or if I really want to spend money on a mouse, the WoW Mouse is amazing. It isn't only for WoW, it's a mouse with brushed metal surface and like 10 spare buttons. It also has (I believe this is what they said) over 10 million color combinations within the LED lights that are inside the mouse.
