I'm in the market for a new case. My current one is an old junker and is pretty beat up. I always see pictures of people with the Antec 900. Is it really that good? Good enough to be worth $120?

Does anyone know of some decent cases that are a good bang for your buck? Thanks guys.
 
I know someone that owns the Antec 900, and apparently they absolutely love it. I will regret saying this but, I just have the normal case that came with my comp.
 
I like my mid-tower Antec 300, for full-tower I really like the new Corsair Obsidian 800D. I'm planning on upgrading to that baby soon, seeing as I need more space than a mid-tower can provide. At $279 it's pricey though, for a cheaper alternative full-size, the Antec 900 is good as well as the Cooler Master HAF 932 (preemptive of PewPew ;))

Antec 900 is a great case, I know everyone measures heat in C and not F, but i use F, and the ambient temp in my case is around 76, gfx card runs around 32-41 C, and cpu never really leaves 88F. If you're interested in the 900, check out your local best buy, the last few i've been into have the 900 at about $70 and the 900 2 at about $145 which is a steal.
 
If you're considering the 900, why not get a 1200? I fought with mid tower cases for years because I didn't want a huge case taking up a lot of room. The 1200 isn't any wider or deeper than some mid tower cases, just taller. It really helps with cable management and working on your rig.

I have the Antec P180B mid-tower which is an awesome case. They currently sell the 180 in silver (black has been discontinued but is still available in some stores), and they have a 182 which I saw on Fry's site for $69.90. If you have a Fry's store near you, I would highly recommend checking this case out (or any other parts supplier) At under $70 it is a steal for the quality as they did a couple upgrades to the 180 in the 182.

Most of the 180 series cases will be in the $150 range for the mid-tower, but they're still worth it at that price. You can find them for less online.

They are well-built, solid cases. If you like the look of a solid matte black (or silver) box, I highly recommend it. Think of it as an Appleish case for the PC world.
 
I own an Antec 900 , it is by far the best case I have ever used. If you're not in a rush you can usually wait for a Newegg or other deal to bring the price down to around $70. ~$70-100

Also had a friend build his computer around the same time, he bought a case out of the Thermaltake Armor series. It's a bit larger than my Antec 900 but equally as easy to work with. Also an excellent case for a decent price. ~$80-120

Coolermaster HAF 932 was also mentioned earlier. That case probably has one of the best cooling specs out of all gamer cases. Some people think it looks butt ugly, but honestly I've never thought it was that bad. It's a bit pricer than the Antec 900/TT Armor but it's a good value for it's ability. ~$120-140

I've also seen the Cooler Master Cosmos for decent prices now. That was one of the more recent additions to their lineup and rated very well. You can find them in a range of prices (bottom end approaches the Coolermaster HAF series). ~$90-180

If you're looking for straight value, you can try the Antec 300 series. It's basically a non-wind tunnel version of the Antec 900. Still a sturdy case if you're not going for overclocking. ~$50

Yeah the Antec 900 is pretty sweet if you want a mid tower though for that price go get a full tower. Some nice mid towers that you can also go for are the NZXT Tempest, CM Scout, Maybe the CM690. If you're looking for a really low budget case that looks nice you can get the NZXT Apollo Black.

I have the 1200 as well. I noticed you added an extra fan on the bracket for one of the HDD cages. Do you have to cooling the HDD's in the cage or just pulling in more are for the case?

I've got an Antec 900 and it's great! I'd love to upgrade to the Corsair Obsidian 800D also.

I have the NZXT Tempest - and I adore this case.

People compare it frequently to the Antec 900, and things of this nature. I'm extremely happy I went with it over the Antec 900 and similar cases.

For multiple reasons. One reason - it's nowhere near as popular. I HATE having a case I know a ton of other people have.

Two front 120mm intake fans, one side 120mm intake fan, one rear 120mm exhaust fan - and two 140mm top exhaust fans. Bottom mounted PSU, very sturdy, I/O panel on top - and while labeled as a mid-tower case, this thing is huge. I was able to very easily fit my HD4890 Toxic Edition with a full two, maybe three inches to spare before I run into my HD cage.

It's big, it's got fantastic airflow, and I've yet to encounter any problems with it. It arrived with one fan shorted out, but NZXT replaced it free of charge in less than a week.

Plus.

It's cheap.

Well worth it, IMO. Though I wouldn't necessarily advise going for this case if you're the type of builder who feels like they should be able to just rip things out of place. There are some reports of the front cover breaking some of it's plastic clasps when you take it off - but these people musn't have a clue. I've taken the front off multiple times in the few months that I've had it for various reasons, and never had any sign of weakness.

Treat it well, and it'll treat you well in return.
