An Update in Review

Hmm, good review here! You make very valid points which I mostly agree with. I like the formatting and pics too.

Thanks for the insight to all of the updates! Awesome work, makes it easy for me to understand all the changes :)

Rewarding people who are discussing the changes, rather than the people clogging up the servers trying to get the downloads the second they're released, then clogging up the chat window with WTF WHY ISN'T THIS PERFECT WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS ABILITY NO I DIDN'T READ THE PATCH NOTES WHY DO YOU ASK?

Saying that the people who were on the forums at the time aren't as dedicated to the game is pretty insulting, and I do take it personally. I play AND spend time on the forums to improve my ability to play. Just because you didn't get the medals doesn't give you the right to whine about the way they were released.

Who said I was whining about not getting a medal? And when did I say you weren't dedicated? Wow, you need to chill, stop overreacting, and think about what you're saying.

It's just an incredibly foolish thing to do, especially because the community values things like hats and medals a LOT. Rewarding someone in the game for doing something outside of the game doesn't make any sense, and I can understand the backlash of the members of the community that didn't receive the medals.

I personally don't care for medals, or hats, or anything like that. I can't even see them on my own viewmodel anyway, so what's the point?

Demoman stickies no longer stick to control point.

I have to agree that I was highly disappointed at the fact that I was actually playing when I found out about the medal. Too late tho. Some of these updates are probably going to make me an angry person but i'll get used to it I suppose. They'll probably end up changing half of it back if everyone rages enough. A very nice and detailed review. It was very informative and I appreciate you posting it for us to see. Makes it a little easier to see the pros and cons of the updates as well instead of just playing the game and going "What the heck?"

Great review! I really dont like the scout nerf....part of the reason why i almost never play them now unfortunately since they are soo fragile now :(

They are just as fragile as any of the other 125 HP classes, (I personally don't notice too much more frailty with the 95.) but they make up for this with being the best of those 125's in their direct combat capabilities, they don't rely on healing others like the medic, sentries like the engineer, stealth like the spy, or extreme range like the sniper.

Players don't seem to grasp his playstyle, which is hit and run, tag an opponent, retreat, heal if necessary by medpacks, then attack again very quickly from another angle. They are made to annoy the enemy, make them chase, force them to sidetrack from what they are doing, and then, after his teammates have taken care of the biggest obstacles, help mop house and capture.

If they did not have this frailty you might as well replace the soldier as the bread and butter class with an empty box, they would never be used again.

Most people already do that with the soldier...

Aye but he doesn't have 2x captime, speed, or a stun, now do he? :B

In actuality, the Soldier and Scout DO serve a lot of the same functions. They just do it in different ways. Soldier through his Shock and Awe, scout through his annoyingness.
