Everyone is greedy, its what drives the market. You say they have no valid reason to raise the price? How about to make more money? With the economy the way it is you have to expect prices to raise. If you really care that much that the increased the game by the price of a few take out pizzas then keep it to yourself because the economy is part of politics and politics are not part of eGO.

In short greed is what keeps our market going, it exists in every person, get used to it. You call them greedy for raising the price, they can call you greedy for not wanting to spend a few more dollars on a quality product.

If you don't like it you don't have to spend the money on it, that's how the market goes. But don't try to rally people to your cause here.

Lol I'm not whining about anything. I can careless about COD anyway. If I really wanted something, I'd get it no matter what the circumstances are. But when a game that isn't even worth 60 dollars get's bumped to 90, it's something I'd make a statement about.

These guys obviously did their homework. Less people are going out and staying home because it would mean spending more money. The profits in the gaming industry have been spiking as of recently. I guess in a way you can say the gaming industry feel like the advantage is on their side, so their trying to milk all they can for it. If your not spending elsewhere, you obviously got disposable income you can spend on them.

People just have no self-control. They obviously know the game is popular so people are going to buy it. So it doesn't hurt them to raise it to a ridiculous price. All they have to do is reduce the price later on, but people are going to buy it anyway. They know this, I mean there's a guy who's job is to predict the market. Its just people have no self-control. Greed is just part of capitalism, so that should be obvious.

Seriously, it's not like games are the only thing to ever go up in price. You'd have a harder time finding things that are getting cheaper than things that are getting more expensive.

I see where this guy is coming from. I know that games and their consoles price's are rising. I remember being very young and getting the original xbox the day it released. Then a few years later, not being to afford the new 360 at all. I finally got one after a couple years of its release and it crashed soon afterwards. =/ I really hope games don't become any more expensive. It seems as though it another way for greedy people like this robert kotick character to rob our money. I definantly dont see the point in rising the price on MW2. that game is going to sell so much he could price 10 bucks cheaper than MW1 and still make more off it. (hint of sarcasm to that last line...but maybe he could)

The alternative to raising prices is to end up like like Knights of the Old Republic 2. A great story, decent game play, and 1000's of bugs left unsupported because the company went out of buisness before they could make a patch.

Out of pure love did some of the designers and fan base create a PC patch from scratch for most of the quests. The sad thing is 17% of all quest strings in the game end in dead ends or uncompleted/incomplete data left yet to explore because the links are not connected.

While no one likes to see the prices going up the flip side is that soon to be the production costs of PC and console games will be going down.

WoW online no physical sales have finally surpassed in store sales. The most common in store item they sell these days is their key cards for monthly subscribers.

In development are more "steam" styled platforms, such as Impulse, and Ijji games.

There are even conglomorate ideas to create entire platforms of MMO styles that players can liquidate in game assessts from one MMO to the other.

The scariest idea I have witnessed however is the level-up system of buy in. Imagine a "steam" platform that allows you to purchase "levels" of access. Want to be a sniper in DoD:S? Well thats fine...want a sniper rifle that kills in one shot? You need to purchase level eight access, which is only $327.37 (tax included).

The alternatives to just raising upfront prices are much much more frightening. As Russel Crowe once was forced to say on screen "You must always pick the lesser of two weavels..."

Boycotting over the current price increase, plus this guy has a influence and probably made them raise it in the first place.

what current price increase? I havent seen that much of a big increase in games here. Plus its just Activision and its a smart business move. You know everyone is gonna buy COD MW2 so up the price and make some extra money off it to prove to the higher ups that they can compete with Blizzard for part of the parent companies gross profits.

The current price increase for the normal edition of modern warfare 2, almost 100$ in the EU...
