Negative Novint Falcon Review

Honestly, I think the Falcon is a great product, but I don't think it's right for me. I was considering buying one when the eGO deal came out, and then I looked in my closet..

I've owned countless numbers of controllers, joysticks, ect. Many of which are now gathering dust, due to lack of use. There's no telling how long I'll use it before I decide to go back to the mouse and keyboard. Yes yes, I know the Falcon is different, but I'm still the same person. I don't think my wallet would be too happy if I spent $100 or $200 or something I use for a month and then let sit. Don't get me wrong. The Falcon is a fantastic product. It just comes down to how much I would use it. I don't think I would get enough use out of it to warrant spending $100 or one. This could change though, once more games have been added, I think I would be able to justify the $100 or $200. It just depends on how much I would use it.

Congrats on a great product, thanks for the promo deal and the support for EdgeGamers. My hats off to you Tom Novint, keep up the good work.

Hey RyanFlyin, we're working on getting the Falcon into cybercafes, and we also have a 30 day money back guarantee if you want to try it at home.

Hey Mister Adam, your post makes sense - appreciate the thoughts. One thing I would point out is with our new F-Gen drivers, you'll be able to use the Falcon for all apps, and customize it even for things like microsoft word (we have a gesture recognition system that you can map cut and paste to, for example). Then there's the game use for it too. Overall, I don't think it would sit, and as I pointed out to RyanFlyin, we have a money back guarantee. F-Gen alpha should be out within a week. thx, tomnovint

lol Ash. Maybe we could take one postdated that long, if it were for $1 million (FYI, I typed "$1 million" slowly, holding my pinky finger to the corner of my mouth, Austin Powers style)

I like the grinninghillbilly quote too - he seems like a funny guy.

thx, tomnovint

i think there should be a falcon Q&A thread, cuz this is one is starting to turn into one :P

Im still jealous of the people who got a Novint either from winning it our getting that low price :P I wasn't able to get in on either since I didn't have any money at the time. From what I have seen after watching many reviews on youtube it has been a good product. And when the drivers come out which will support all games thats a major thing for me wanting to buy it.

I already signed up for the referral program, haven't got any buyers from me yet though :(

You know, I don't have a Falcon yet but I will be getting one soon after reading this thread. Tom, if you do ship outside the US (Europe in particular) what are the estimated costs of the shipping?
And on a sidenote, you are by far the most awesome CEO of any company I have ever seen, going through the trouble of reading forums to find out what people think about the Falcon, going through customer support emails and all that which wouldn't even cross some peoples' minds. Keep up the good work and I won't regret a second when I do buy the Falcon.

Hey AmericanBoy, keep on the lookout. The Falcon is a great deal for younger kids (we have tons of kids titles) and families, etc. Perhaps somewhere in your network there are 3 people who would be good customers who can help you to earn a Falcon ;)

Thanks Dante, appreciate the post. Shipping is usually in the $100 range internationally, which is admittedly expensive. We just charge the direct shipping cost, and don't charge a handling fee - i.e. we're getting it to you as cheaply as possible, but the Falcon is relatively big and heavy. The conversion rate helps. For example,
$199 - 20% EGO discount = 159.20.
159.20+100 shipping = 259.20
259.20 USD = 181 Euros
so, you can think of it as 181 Euros plus free shipping ;)

thx, tomnovint

You guys seeing this? Excellent marketing here. Free Shipping!

Been reading this thread and I'm am impressed on Tom's dedication to the Falcon/gaming community. While I am not planning to purchase this great product, I am very happy to see that there is a company such as Novint in this impersonal era of society.

I am surprised anyone complained... I thought we all realized a *fairly* new product has bugs and glitches, especially one as complex as this.

Giant box sitting next to me... cant open mine till I get some school assignments done. Ugh.

I don't have a falcon but I might be interested in buying one... The support looks great and the feedback from it says it all. Great work, Novint.

In the case, you may be shipping one to Kansas soon enough.

Cry time... every time I read about the Falcon it makes me want one so badly. But I am broke and suck at events.

PM me if you would like to donate a Falcon :D

I love you.
Thanks for that, I'll definetely consider buying one now. :)

I was obsessed with it the moment I saw it, I'm still obsessed with it, and I will force myself to continue the obsession. It looks amazing, it is amazing, it will be amazing. Once fudpeX sends me his, I'll be on it like my arrows in your head.

tbh the only problem i had is getting it to work in TF2 and i downloaded the new drivers, and everything and still doesnt work but i still love using the falcon on the games that came with the falcon dont get me wrong, its hard to get used to but when u finally understand how to use it you love it and want to only use it for every game you got lol.
