Why go to Best Buy? Does the MS Xbox360 "Repair Console" website help determine your warranty status, given console information?

Is your consol less than 3 years old (ie, was it purchased less than 3 years ago, either new or factory refurbished)? If it is, Microsoft has a 3 red light warrenty in place that you can use. If not, it is unlikely that it is covered at all. The number if it is less than 3 years and has the 3 red light error is 1-800-4my-xbox. They will give you all the information and instructions you need when you call.
Do not call the number. Everyone should know by now you get a call center and do not deal with microsoft directly.
Just do this. Go to the website. Log in with your windows live account if you don't have one then make one its free. Register your system. You will find out if the standard warranty is expired. The 3 year warranty for the RRoD differs from the standard warranty. Either way just request a repair ticket and put you have the red rings. Also choose that they send you the box with the prepaid shipping label. Many sites and people say they do not do that anymore but its because they are calling in.
Ive done this twice and works every time. The second time I did it just shy of having it for four months since they so called "Fixed" it. This time they have me a brand new one. It had the manufacture date of just 3 days before I received it and works flawlessly.
