EDGEGAMERS JAILBREAK RULES

Official Rules, Guidelines & Gameplay Standards

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

INTRODUCTION

Jailbreak is a gamemode involving two teams: Guards and Prisoners, with the Warden attempting to control the Prisoners.

This thread outlines the official rules used on the EdgeGamers Jailbreak server. For ambiguities, questions, or other concerns regarding these rules, contact a Counter-Strike Admin Trainer or a member of Leadership.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

ROLES

Warden

  • The commander of the prison.
  • Responsible for overseeing both Prisoners and Guards.
  • Uses games and commands to eliminate Prisoners until Last Request (LR) is reached.

Guard (CT)

  • Assists the Warden by enforcing orders and suppressing rebellions.
  • The Warden is selected from the Guard team.
  • Guards must pursue Warden if none is present.
  • Guards may also be referred to as CTs.

Prisoner (T)

  • Attempts to survive until Last Request (LR).
  • May survive by winning games conducted by the Warden.
  • May alternatively rebel against the Guards.
  • Prisoners may also be referred to as Ts or Terrorists.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

GENERAL RULES

  • Do not work against your teammates.
  • Teammates may not sabotage or grief one another.
  • Teammates may not assist the opposing team in eliminating their teammates except through bloodhounding directed by the Warden.
  • Guards may not bait, encourage, or otherwise attempt to provoke Prisoners into rebelling.
  • Do not talk over the Warden.
  • All game-related communication must take place in-game.
  • Dead players may not reveal information to living players.
  • Favoritism towards a player for a reason outside of the game (or a trivial reason in-game) is prohibited.
  • Do not close cells.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

REBELLING

Rebelling is an indefinite status. The red outline is only a visual indicator intended to help Guards identify players who have recently caused damage.

A Prisoner Is Considered Rebelling If They:

  • Are red.
  • Fail to follow a Warden order within 3 seconds.
  • Occupy or attempt to enter a restricted area.
  • Hold contraband for 3 or more seconds.
  • Use contraband unless ordered to do so by the Warden.
  • Fail to drop contraband, back away from contraband or back away from a Guard within 3 seconds after being ordered to do so by a Guard.
  • Aid another Prisoner in rebelling.
  • Interfere with games.
  • Activate buttons intended for Guards.
  • Leave cells before being ordered to do so.
  • Cheat a game or LR, unless cheating was allowed.

Pardons

  • Rebelling may only be removed through a Warden pardon.

Prisoners may attempt to find loopholes or technicalities in commands. If this fails and they are killed for it, it is not a freekill.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

GUARD RULES

The following rules apply to both Guards and the Warden unless otherwise stated.

  • Do not shoot Prisoners who are not rebelling and have not lost a game.
  • You must have active and accurate knowledge of whom you are shooting.
  • Do not shoot based solely on skins.
  • Collateral damage is prohibited.
  • Do not shoot unnecessarily, carelessly, or recklessly.
  • Do not open cells or activate game buttons without Warden approval.
  • Remain visible to Prisoners unless pursuing rebellers.
  • Do not camp restricted areas.
  • Do not camp or collect T-Secrets.
  • You must pursue Warden if none exists.
  • Do not issue commands that conflict with the Warden or an active LR.
  • Do not Guard without a microphone if there are four or fewer Guards without microphones.
  • If you do not have a microphone and a Warden has not been assigned within 10 seconds, you are expected to slay.

Last Guard

If the round began with four or more Guards and only one Guard remains before Last Request is reached, Last Guard activates.

All remaining Prisoners are considered rebellers.

The final Guard must eliminate Prisoners until LR is reached or the final Guard is eliminated.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

WARDEN RULES

  • Do not open cells without a valid order.
  • Do not take Warden without a microphone.
  • Do not unnecessarily delay the round.
  • Orders must be repeated at least once upon request.
  • Do not trick, confuse, mislead, or otherwise lie to Prisoners.
  • Do not excessively or irresponsibly pass Warden.

Warden Death

When the Warden dies, it becomes a Freeday
  • All non-rebelling Prisoners are automatically pardoned.
  • The freeday is automatically revoked when a new Warden is assigned.
  • Guards must stop any active damage game as soon as possible.
  • The current game is cancelled.
  • Cancelled games may only be restarted from a fair starting position.

Orders

  • In-cell commands are not allowed.
  • All orders and explanations must be given through voice chat.
  • All orders imply no detouring and no delaying.
  • All orders allow Prisoners 3 seconds to type.
  • ‘One step’ allows for a jumping step. The Warden must specify a knifing step if they mean otherwise.
  • Unstacking requires Prisoners' heads to not overlap.
  • Freeze and marker commands are considered indefinite until changed.

Special Treatment (ST)

  • ST may be awarded for contraband, pardons, bloodhounding, or games.
  • The Warden must define Game ST requirements before a game begins.
  • This carries over Wardens. If the first Warden grants a Prisoner ST and dies prior to a game being played, the next Warden must ensure the first ST still skips at least one game.
  • All eligible Prisoners must be treated equally.
  • Freeday ST must skip at least one game.
  • ST may not guarantee LR.
  • ST must be revoked when only two non-rebelling Prisoners remain.

Bloodhounding

  • ST may be offered for assistance in tracking down rebelling Prisoners.
  • The Warden must offer a pardon before initiating bloodhounding.
  • Bloodhounding is only allowed when two non-rebelling Ts remain.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

GAMES

Games are used to kill Prisoners off and are a vital part of Jailbreak. To encourage round variety and fairness, the following rules apply.
  • Games must be explained by the Warden before starting.
  • Games must be fair.
  • When playing a game that deals damage over time, health must be offered immediately prior to starting.
  • Games may not unfairly force a player to pursue that is not losing to risk losing.
  • Team-based games must be assigned even teams.
  • Games must be winnable.
  • For games where ‘progress’ can be determined (e.g. climb), the Warden may kill the Prisoners that have made the least progress
  • Games must be productive.
  • Games may not be changed after players have died or won.
  • Games should not eliminate a majority of Prisoners whenever possible.

Hot Lava

Hot lava is a method that allows the Warden to gradually kill the losers of a game that offers multiple
attempts. This can be supported via the map, but may also be manually enforced in the form of killing
the Prisoners if they fail a given jump, fall to the ground or teleport back to the start.

Unless otherwise stated, hot lava requires a Prisoner to entirely fail a game to be killed.

If multiple Prisoners are equally progressed through the game (i.e. tied), the Warden may order
them all to pursue. They may be killed if they fail to do this.

Hot lava must be announced by the Warden at least 3 seconds prior to enforcement.

Game Rotation

A game is considered ‘played’ if it had winners.
  • The first game may not be the first game from the previous round.
  • The first game must be a map game.
  • The first game may not be a Luck-Based game.
  • The second game may not be a Custom Jump.
  • Luck-Based games must provide at least a 25% chance of winning.
  • No more than two Luck-Based games may be played per round.
  • You may not play a game if it was already played previously during the round (Unless the prisoners opt in, in which it is considered an optional game)

Optional Games

Optional games may sometimes be offered by the Warden. The Prisoners will be allowed to vote to play a game that they normally could not play due to restrictions in the rules. (Full Dodge Course for example). The Prisoners who vote to do this will be required to complete the game and cannot back out once the game has started. If any Prisoners vote against the game must either be cancelled or the Prisoners who voted against must be allowed to skip the game.

You must as a Warden describe what the game is prior to holding a vote for it. If any Prisoners are allowed to skip the game. This does not count towards the 1 game requirement for STs to be recalled.

Custom Jumps

Custom jumps are commonly referred to as "Cancer Jumps" in game.
  • Prisoners must witness the Warden successfully complete the jump.
  • The Warden must identify both the start and end locations.
  • The Warden may define additional requirements.
  • If the Warden fails the jump, they must change it, discontinue it, or provide equal attempts.

Simon Says

Required Opening Phrase:
Simon Says we are now playing Simon Says.
Simon Says I am Simon.
Required Closing Phrase:
Simon Says we are no longer playing Simon Says.
Simon Says I am no longer Simon.
  • Confusing Prisoners is permitted.
  • AFK Freeze is implied between commands unless otherwise stated.
  • The first command must be a Simon Says command.
  • New Simon Says commands override previous Simon Says commands.

First Reaction / Last Reaction

  • No more than two Prisoners may be eliminated.
  • During ‘First Reaction’, only the first player to do the action may be killed.
  • During ‘Last Reaction’, only the last player to do the action may be killed.
  • AFK Freeze is implied between commands.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

LAST REQUEST (LR)

Last Request (LR) is reached when there are 2 remaining Prisoners. The Prisoners may pick between a collection of games provided to them by typing the command !lr. If the Prisoner wins the selected game they get to kill the CT without being considered rebelling. If the Guard wins the game they get to kill the Prisoner.

  • Do not delay LR.
  • Guards may decline custom LRs.
  • No cheating is implied; if the Prisoner says no rules, any form of cheating is permitted.
  • Restricted-area and contraband rebelling rules do not apply during LR.
  • Guards may play T games during LR.
  • For Shot for Shot, Mag for Mag or NoScope Last Requests Guards must ask if there are any restrictions prior to shooting.
  • If the Prisoner shoots without stating restrictions then basic rules are implied.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

SPECIAL DAYS

Special days are days that the Warden may call at the beginning of the round. Rules outside of this
section do not apply during this day unless otherwise stated.
If the Special Day is a Custom Day the Warden is free to make up the rules for the day.
  • Special Days must be explained through voice chat by the Warden.
  • Special Days must be actively pursued.
  • Custom Days may not unnecessarily delay the round.
  • Future Wardens must continue the selected Custom Day.
  • Admins have final authority regarding Custom Day validity.
  • Teaming is prohibited during Free For All days.
  • Fish-In-A-Barrel days are not allowed.

Warday Rules

  • Wardays may not be within sight of Armory.
  • Wardays must have at least two entrances.
  • Teleports count as one entrance.
  • Guards must remain within the Warday location until expansion time.
  • Guards may not shoot Prisoners outside the Warday location.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

ACCIDENTAL DEATHS

There are instances where you will find yourself killed without having committed a crime to make yourself wanted. It is inevitable that a guard will make a mistake, such accidental killings are unavoidable. If this happens to you--remain calm and understand that you are playing a video game and will have an opportunity to play again next round. There are always admins playing on the Jail Server, and they will carefully monitor kills to ensure that unjust slayings are kept to a minimum. Do not complain if you are accidentally killed, you exacerbate the situation beyond its triviality and such poor sportsmanship can lead to disciplinary action. If you feel that a guard has deliberately and blatantly eliminated you without reason, you can bring this to the attention of the admins by mentioning it once in admin chat. Further complaining or public griping will be treated as spam. The admins are trained to differentiate between griefing and accidents, trust their judgment.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

CONCLUSION

Admins have final authority regarding the interpretation and enforcement of these rules.

Do not argue in-game.

If you disagree with a ruling, contact an Admin Trainer or Leadership member.

Counter-Strike Leadership retains final authority regarding all server operations, policies, and rule interpretations.

TTT Server Rules
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
RULES UPDATED - 28th November 2021
Refer to the text in RED for the latest rule updates.

How to Play: In TTT, three different roles are randomly assigned to players each round: Innocent, Detective, Traitor.
  • Innocents: An innocent is suspected as a traitor until they have proven themselves to other innocents and detectives. Innocents have to survive and use the process of elimination to figure out who the Traitors are, and kill them.
  • Detectives: A detective is a proven innocent who has access to special equipment to find out who the Traitors are. Detectives are a great asset to the process of elimination, which makes them a high-profile target.
  • Traitors: A traitor is shown as an Innocent to everyone, except for other Traitors. Traitors must use the element of surprise, deception and their special equipment to eliminate all the innocents and detectives without getting caught and killed.

Follow your assigned role, and have fun!

Commands
  • Press (F) to toggle the flashlight.
  • Press (E) to identify bodies.
  • Use team chat (U) to talk with fellow traitors.
  • !menu/!shop
  • !specmenu/!spm
  • !credits
  • !logs
  • Type @ in any chat (Y or U) before your message to contact an admin in admin chat (red text). Note: Only reports on players, concerns, or questions about the game should be the only subject matter while utilizing this command.
  • !servers (can join other eGO servers directly by using this command)
  • !rules
  • !mhud
  • !rtd

All TTT rules are enforced by our [admins]'s at their discretion - if you have a problem or a concern with how a situation is being handled or need clarification on a rule, please contact a member of CS leadership or use the Contact Leadership section on the forums. Our rules are designed to create and maintain fun and fair game play.

TTT General Rules
  1. Do not Random Death Match (RDM). You need sufficient evidence (see traitorous behaviors below) proving that a player is a traitor to kill them.
  2. Do not ghost - Giving out any information about the game to alive players using any method of communication.
  3. Do not prop kill (Tripmines, Map doors/breakable surfaces, Map props Ex. TNT blocks on Minecraft maps).
  4. Do not door spam.
  5. Do not prop surf or glitch on any map.
  6. Do not kill players based off of sound, location, or weapon. You must have DEFINITIVE proof to kill a player.
  7. Do not kill rule-breakers or seek revenge - only shoot in self-defense and not for previous rounds reasons.
  8. Do not use an in-game name that cannot be pronounced or typed.
  9. Do not complain - report rule violations in admin chat (type @ in team chat followed by your message).
  10. Do not kill players just for shooting their weapon.
  11. Do not kill players for not responding to an alive check.

Detective Rules:
  1. Must be actively pursuing the round and may not camp/delay.
  2. May not present a player as a traitor without a valid reason (see traitorous behaviors below).
  3. May not kill a player for disobeying orders.
  4. Need 1 DNA scan on a dead innocent body or detective body before calling a Kill on Sight (KOS) on a player.
  5. May call KOS on players were seen committing a traitorous act (Running over unID'd bodies situationally, buying traitor weapon in their sight, placing a death station in their sight, etc.).

Innocent Rules:
  1. Must be actively pursuing the round and may not camp/delay.
  2. May not present a player as a traitor without a valid reason.
  3. May not traitor bait - making it look like you are a Traitor when you're actually an Innocent.

Traitor Rules:
  1. Must actively attempt to complete the objective and may not camp/delay.
  2. May not kill or damage other Traitors unless acting in self defense (includes using map objects).

Item Usage:

  1. DNA Scanner (Detective) - Type !shop -> Select “DNA Scanner” -> Press E on bodies (All scans will pop up in chat in red text with who killed them and with what weapon)
    1. Green body scans = Call KOS (That person is kill on sight)
    2. Blue body scans = Call KOS
    3. Red body scans = Call PROVEN (That person is proven innocent)
      1. Pay attention to your scans. If a green body and red body are killed by the same player then their role is not definitive.
      2. Pay attention to “world” kills. Those mean they weren’t killed by a player
  2. Jihad (Traitor) - buy the item -> press your inspect key twice (default is “f”)
  3. C4 (Traitor) - buy item -> right click -> select time option
  4. Tripmine (Traitor) - buy item (while facing a surface - otherwise tripmine won’t place)
    1. Any player can defuse a tripmine (hold interact key - default is “e”). It’s like defusing a bomb in comp.
    2. A tripmine may be shot but does deal damage (can count as RDM or server disruption).
  5. ID (Innocent) - buy item -> type !id (will prove yourself innocent and display to all alive players in chat)
  6. Teleport (Traitor) - buy item (the point at which you buy the item will be your checkpoint for the teleport) -> type !tele when ready (will teleport you back to checkpoint)
  7. Taser (Innocent & Detective) - shooting a player with a taser will display their role in chat and will highlight them for a short period of time
    1. This does NOT kill a player so killing for using this is considered RDM
Non-suspicious Behavior
You should NOT kill for any non-suspicious behavior - the following acts are considered as non-suspicious:
  • Being injured.
  • You walked into their line-of-fire.
  • Activating non-traitor traps when no other players are at risk (This includes secret rooms on certain maps).
  • Self Defense - attacking another player who has intentionally attacked you first (except line-of-fire) without valid reason.
  • Refusing to respond to live-checks, ammo checks, slot checks...etc.
  • Door spamming (this is griefing and should be reported to admins).
  • They are walking as though they have a menu open, not moving or AFK.
  • Being one of many people who have the same weapon used to kill someone or not nearby their death.

Suspicious Behavior
You should NOT kill for any suspicious behaviour, without additional, valid evidence and/or justification. The following are considered suspicious acts:
  • Excessively aiming at, watching and stalking players (all three combined are a single act).
  • Not co-operating with Detectives or being tested.
  • Not responding in a reasonable time-frame when confronted with an accusation.
  • Being equipped with any traitor-only weapon
  • Being the only one with the same weapon used to kill/injure someone else nearby their death.
  • Being called out for 'kill-on-sight' (KOS) by an Innocent.
  • Calling out a KOS on someone who did not damage you first and is an innocent.
  • Being the survivor of a gun-fight, or someone nearby a body - be alert, don't be mindless - identify the body and communicate.
  • Being poisoned by the “Poison Gun” item while in a secluded area with few players around.
  • Not receiving radiation damage from the poison gun.
  • Shooting through walls, doors, fences, windows etc. (any plain where you can’t define who is on the other side (See FAQ for questions about this rule).

Traitorous Behavior
You MUST kill for traitorous behavior, failure to do so can be considered as traitorous - the following acts are considered as traitorous:
  • Entering/leaving a traitor only area.
  • Being called out for 'kill-on-sight' (KOS) by a detective.
  • Shooting around or towards other players, unless for self defence or with prior justification (e.g. KOSes).
  • Throwing lethal grenades towards other players without prior warning, unless for self defense. (Throwing flashes or smokes are NOT Traitorous acts.)
  • Declaring a KOS on an innocent.
  • Calling out Traitors without reason or intentionally making players suspect you are a traitor.
  • Purchasing a traitor-only shop item (tripmines, M4A1-S, MP5, etc). (you must actually see the item being purchased for it to be considered traitorous)
  • Not identifying, hiding, destroying bodies or hanging them to surfaces.
  • Activating any sort of trap that almost, or did kill/injure another player.
  • Stating they killed a traitor, when they did not (assisting in the killing of a traitor, is considered they killed a traitor).
  • Destroying/damaging the Traitor-Tester or a Health Station (doing this as an Innocent is griefing).
Exception: Destroying the Traitor-Tester is only allowed when you are trapped and your life is in danger (such as C4 is planted and there's no way out other than through the vents behind the Traitor Tester).
  • Not destroying a Death Station (in range/line of sight of it - not shooting or attempting to destroy it - surviving abnormally)
  • Not moving away from your personal space after being reasonably told at-least twice.
Detail: You are to give a reasonable chance and repeat as some may not hear you over others talking or may not react quickly due to mic-delay; Your personal space is not the room, but rather being too close for comfort.
  • Killing or injuring non-traitorous players, or the detective (unless it was line-of-fire or were attacked first) or a proven-player.
Detail: A proven Innocent is someone you witnessed kill a Traitor, or tested as an Innocent. They are NOT proven by word-of-mouth.

Definitions:

Random Death Match (RDM)

Killing or injuring teammates intentionally or without care is considered as RDM and is server-punishable - the following are examples:
  • Anyone throwing grenades at random, or without prior warning for your teammates to move.
  • Anyone using or setting up any sort of trap without care to teammates.
  • Assumptions based on how a player moves and talks.
  • Anyone killing a teammate with a glitch or any other way without valid reason.
  • Innocents killing solely for minor suspicious behavior (careless and not reasonable).
  • Innocents killing solely for not following request(s).
  • Killing a player for disobeying an order.
  • Killing a player for pointing a gun at someone.

T-Baiting
  • Intentionally acting like a traitor is considered griefing and is server punishable. Innocents should not be intentionally committing traitorous acts or claim to be a traitor.
  • Examples of T-Baiting:
    • A player admits to being a traitor (voice chat or text chat). Ex. “I’m a Traitor;” “I’m a T;” “I killed the detective”
    • Shooting or knifing toward/near players for the sole purpose of looking like a traitor.

Miscellaneous Rules
  • Traitor Weapons are NOT a means for a KOS. Some spawn on maps and can be picked up by other players.
  • A player that does not receive damage from the poison gun CANNOT be KOS off this.
  • A player that is actively receiving damage from the poison gun CAN be proven as an Innocent.
  • Chasing a player with a knife or a taser is NOT means for a KOS. Furthermore, evading a taser is NOT means for a KOS.
  • Admins hold the right to take any action deemed necessary in order to maintain server stability.
  • CS Leadership and in-game admins decisions are final.

Out of Map Areas

There are several maps that can be exploited by going out of bounds. This is not allowed. Any area that is not reachable by normal means is considered Out of Bounds.

Exploiting the map does not mean that the player is KOS, and instead should be brought to the admins.
