Rules are subject to change.
EdgeGamers DoD:S and PSC Leadership have the final word and decision on all rules and interpretation issues.
These rules are intended to ensure positive gaming experience in the EdgeGamers community, through the facilitation of spirited competitive play while retaining respect for fellow players. Where the "letter of the law" may be wrong, DoD:S and PSC Leadership retains the right to uphold the "spirit of the law".
Rules - Short Version
1. No tags will be worn by competitors.
2. There will be a maximum of 10 competing players on each team.
3. Good sportsmanship and mutual respect is required.
4. DoD:S and PSC Leadership and/or appointed members will referee the matches.
5. Top 4 will move on to the Final Round. Final Round will be a single elimination 1 on 1 bracket.
6. You may only sign up once for the tournament.
7. Have fun.
Rules - Long Version
1.1 Eligibility
To sign up you need to do the following:
- You must be thirteen years of age or older to participate.
- You must be registered on edegamers.org
- You must be MAUL verified. Go here to learn more: http://www.edgegamers.org/forums/maul.php
- You must have at least 24 hours of verifiable playtime on EdgeGamers Servers.
- You must have no substantiated bans for cheating through MAUL or VAC
2.1 Alignment of Rules
All eGO rules and guidelines are in effect for the duration of the event. These would include, but are not limited to, conduct, behavior, language, respect, and maturity.
All participants are expected to conduct themselves with the highest standard of sportsmanship and respect their teammates and their competitors for the duration of the event.
No tags will be worn during the competition. Please leave your tag off before you join.

2.2 Team Communications
There is no need for opposing teams to communicate with each other during a match. Communications should be directed solely to the match referee.
If there is a need to communicate with a referee, a team captain will pose the question in TEXT. The referee can then decide upon the appropriate course of action. The primary question(s) posed to a referee should be solely: How much time is left, clarification on the score, and requests regarding substitutions or time-outs. Other questions should be postponed to non-game play times.
Team Captains will be assigned by referees prior to the start of the match.
2.2.1 In-Game Text
Only acting team leaders are permitted to use public in-game messaging (messagemode1) during match play. Non-team leaders must use team chat only (messagemode2) during match play. Friendly banter is allowed during pre-game warmup but please do not go overboard.
2.2.2 In-Game Voice
At all times: Voice chat will be enabled.
2.2.3 All Talk
During game play: All talk shall be DISABLED.
During non-game times: Should be DISABLED but may be enabled by the referees to communicate.
2.2.3 Admin Chat
Where possible, players' admin rights to use administrative abilities such as admin chat, shall be disabled.
2.2.4 Match Admin Chat
Referees or other players who would normally have the ability to use privileged admin commands shall not use any private mode of communication (psay) when refereeing or participating in a match.
2.2.5 Ventrilo
The only third party communication tool allowed during the event will be the official EdgeGamers Ventrilo server. Event Coordinators shall offer to place each team into their own respective eGO Vent Team Channel. All other methods of communication in a private matter is prohibited. This includes and is not limited too Steam, Skype, Teamspeak, X-Fire, ect.
2.2.6 Questions/Communications to Referee
During game play: The match referee shall ignore and decline to answer any questions regarding rules interpretation, referee decisions, and questions which are answered elsewhere.
During non-game play: The match referee may answer any and all questions if they so choose.
2.3 Use of Sprays
The use of custom sprays is generally considered acceptable if and ONLY if it meets the following guidelines:
- It does not contain racism or prejudice and is otherwise not immediately offensive and could not be reasonably seen as such.
- It does not resemble a character or weapon model, or anything of a similar nature; In other words a decoy spray.
- It is not made and/or used with the specific intent of creating contrast (such as plain white on the other side of a dark area).
- It is not of an otherwise obviously exploitative nature.
3.1 Use of Models
Players must use:

? default weapons skins
? default point-of-view ("POV")
? default sounds
3.2 Use of Sprites
Only default sprites may be used.
3.3 CVARs
No Client Variables (CVARs), or any other client side settings or applications on their computer, are allowed that would yield an unfair advantage in match play. These CVARs include, but are not limited to: any commands that alter weather; alter the effectiveness of smoke/fragmentation grenades; remove or lessen ambient sounds; modify textures to an extent that would yield an unfair advantage; modify lighting to an extent that would yield an unfair advantage; make any solid object or surface see-through or invisible; modify hitboxes and/or player movement in an unfair way. Interpretation of the legality of CVARs is left to the discretion of EdgeGamers administrators.
3.4 In-match Techniques
3.4.1 Map Exploits
Any form of exploiting the map or the use of map bugs to kill or harm opponents is illegal. This includes rocket exploits, grenade exploits, and any other form of exploitation.
3.4.2 Keyboard/Mouse Binds
Players are prohibited from binding any action in conjunction with +attack.
Players may not bind "+attack" to "mwheelup" or "mwheeldown" to accelerate shooting weapons faster than they are intended to be.
Players may not use any kind of macro to allow the shooting of weapons faster. This applies to any keyboard/mouse or even a programs that allows you to setup a macro to do so.
3.4.3 CVAR Exploits
A client or server variable that allows for or forces an object to be translucent or invisible is illegal.
3.4.4 Sound Exploits
The toggling/changing of any sound cvar during a match is illegal.
3.5 Right To Examine
All clients connecting to the eGO Event Server explicitly permit the use of anti-cheat detection applications.
Clients connected to the eGO Event Server grant eGO the right to use any application, at its discretion, to examine client DoD:S configurations.
3.6 Server Configuration
3.6.1 Pure Server
The server shall be set to use the setting of sv_pure 2.
All non-standard client/user content shall be ignored.
3.6.2 Server Malfunction or Configuration Error
If an error causes the server to malfunction or otherwise cause the match to be unplayable,
In the first ten minutes of play: The match will be restarted.
After the first ten minutes of play: The match will be suspended and its outcome decided upon by a DoD:S or PSC Leadership member.
3.6.3 Weapons
Only the following classes will be allowed for the duration of the tournament:
Rifleman
Support
Assault
3.6.4 Match Configuration
The server will be running an EdgeGamers specific match config. The match will last 30 minutes, and consists of two (2) 15 minute halves with a team switch at the half. The in-game server administrators will be responsible for running the configs.
3.6.5 SourceTV
SourceTV will be used to both record and broadcast matches. SourceTV will be run on a 120 second delay.
3.7 Game Recording
The game will be spectated and recorded by 2 eGO match administrators.
4.1 Time/Date
The scheduled time/date may not be modified. If you sign up for the tournament but cannot make it, your place is forfeit.
4.2 Empty Spots and Ringers
If a spot is empty someone who is already signed up for the tournament and is in Ventrilo at the time will be assigned to the team. If someone drops in any round past the first, a ringer will be assigned who’s score will not be recorded. The ringer will be a player who has already qualified for competition in the next round.
5.1 Location of Tournament
The Tournament will be held on a designated eGO server. If a server is not available due to technical or other issues, the match will be postponed and rescheduled until such time that the server becomes available again.
5.2 Pre-Match
Those who want to participate in the tournament will need to be in Ventrilo no later than 15 minutes before the round is scheduled to start, and in their assigned room.
5.3 Server Connection
Upon receiving the server password, all players will have 5 minutes to connect to their assigned eGO DoD:S server. They will join the team they were assigned.
5.4 Match Start
A 5 minute warmup round will be played, followed by the game restarting and the scores being recorded.
5.5 Substitution
Once the game starts, no one else may join. If you disconnect from the server you will not be allowed back in, hence forfeiting your score. In the event of accidental disconnection you will be permitted to rejoin the server, however your score will be reset. If the player does not return in one minute, a member of eGO leadership, a referee, or a player from a previous round will connect to the server to even the teams. Their score, however, will not count towards tournament prizes or round advancement.
6.1 Matches
During the rounds of 10v10 match-play, the top 4 players from each team from a match will move up to the next round of the tournament. During all subsequent rounds, the top 3 players from each team will move up until there are only 12 players left. The top 4 from this match will move to the finals. During finals, all matches will become 1 on 1 single elimination with randomly picked opponents. All scoring will be based on number of kills. In the result in a tie for number of kills, the player with less deaths will be ranked above the one with more.
6.2 Finals
Finals will consist of the top 4 players from the semi-finals. Matches will be 1 on 1 consisting of two first to five point rounds. After each kill, the round will be reset to ensure an even player advantage for each engagement. Each half must be won by at least 2 points.
6.2.1 Finals Rules
During the finals, the goal of either player is to seek and destroy the other player. To ensure this style of play, players may not: prone, sit idle for more than 15 seconds, camp, or otherwise stall the game. Referee's will closely watch your tactics and will advise you if your actions do not adhere to this style of play. Each round of play during finals matches should last no more than 2 minutes.
7.1 - Disputes
Any disputes regarding game play, exploits, cheating or tactics must be submitted to one of the match referees via private message on the EdgeGamers.org forums with proof of the occurrence and a detailed description including the associated times. If a player is unsure if something would be considered an exploit or would like more information about who to file a dispute with, they should contact a DoD:S or PSC leadership representative.
7.2 – Sportsmanship
All registrants are required to display the highest standards of conduct and observe common sportsmanship during matches. Name calling, taunting, complaining, swearing, cheating, and temper tantrums will not be tolerated and may result in the disqualification of offending player(s).
7.3 - Penalties
Penalties are broken into two categories, technical penalties and penalties for unsportsmanlike conduct. A technical penalty occurs when the procedures for participating in a match outlined in “Match Procedure” are not followed.
First violation: A warning to the participant.
Second violation: The participant will have two points deducted from their score for that match.
Third violation: The participant will be removed from the tournament.
Note that these penalties can be increased at any point in time based on the discretion of DoD:S and PSC leadership. You may also be suspended for actions that are not covered above. Ultimately, suspension length rests at the discretion of DoD:S and PSC leadership and are subject to change at any time.
All penalties will be reviewed to ensure fairness across the tournament by match referees and DoD:S and PSC leadership.
The Tournament rules are subject to change at any time. If any changes to the rules occur, participants will be notified through the forum on the EdgeGamers™ website, through private message or email.

Any potential winner who cannot be contacted by email within 15 days of attempted first notification will forfeit his/her prize. Potential prize winner(s) and their parents/legal guardians may be required to sign and return an Affidavit or Declaration of Eligibility, a Liability/Publicity Release within 30 days following the date of first attempted notification. Failure to comply within this time period may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner. eGO at its sole discretion shall reserves the right to disqualify any Participant from the Tournament if it reasonably believes that the Participant has attempted to undermine the legitimate operation of the Tournament by cheating, deception, or other unfair playing practices or abuses, threatens or harassment of any other Participants, eGO admins and affiliates.
Shipping: eGO will not be responsible for any shipping costs, including shipping to the continental US. Shipping details will be discussed with each winner on a case by case basis.
Use of Winner's Name & Information:
By entering, each entrant grants permission, without further compensation, to eGO and their agents and licensees, to use the entrant's name, information, scores, statements, and submitted material for broadcast, print and promotional purposes in connection with the tournament.
Limitations of Liability:
By entering, entrants agree to release eGO, and their officers, directors, and agencies from any claim, loss, liability, damage or injury of any kind arising from their participation in the tournament or their receipt or use of the tournament prize.
Winner is responsible for all federal, state and local taxes associated with acceptance and use of prize.
Any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this tournament, or any prize awarded, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by arbitration. Claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this contest, but in no event attorney's fees. These Official Rules shall be governed by, subject to, and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States of America, excluding all conflict of law rules. If any provision(s) of these Official Rules are held to be invalid or unenforceable, all remaining provisions hereof will remain in full force and effect. To the extent permitted by law, the rights to litigate, seek injunctive relief or make any other recourse to judicial or any other procedure in case of disputes or claims resulting from or in connection with this tournament are hereby excluded, and all Participants expressly waive any and all such rights.

eGO will not be held responsible if for any reason the Tournament is not capable of running or operating as planned due to infection by computer virus, fraud, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, technical failures, or force majeure that, in the sole opinion of eGO, corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Tournament. eGO reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with or abuses any aspect of the Tournament, as solely determined by eGO, and to cancel, terminate, modify, or postpone the Tournament until a later date. eGO assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, or other failure of or related to the software platform on which the Tournament is played, including any injury or damage to participant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this Tournament.

All federal, state, provincial and local laws and regulations apply. Decisions of eGO and the Judging are final and binding on all matters pertaining to this Tournament. Return of any prize/prize notification may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner. Any potential winner who cannot be contacted by email within 15 days of attempted first notification will forfeit his/her prize. Potential prize winner(s) and their parents/legal guardians may be required to sign and return an Affidavit or Declaration of Eligibility, a Liability/Publicity Release within 30 days following the date of first attempted notification. Failure to comply within this time period may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner. eGO at its sole discretion shall reserves the right to disqualify any Participant from the Tournament if it reasonably believes that the Participant has attempted to undermine the legitimate operation of the Tournament by cheating, deception, or other unfair playing practices or abuses, threatens or harassment of any other Participants, eGO admins and affiliates.
Shipping: eGO will not be responsible for any shipping costs, including shipping to the continental US. Shipping details will be discussed with each winner on a case by case basis.
Use of Winner's Name & Information:
By entering, each entrant grants permission, without further compensation, to eGO and their agents and licensees, to use the entrant's name, information, scores, statements, and submitted material for broadcast, print and promotional purposes in connection with the tournament.
Limitations of Liability:
By entering, entrants agree to release eGO, and their officers, directors, and agencies from any claim, loss, liability, damage or injury of any kind arising from their participation in the tournament or their receipt or use of the tournament prize.
Winner is responsible for all federal, state and local taxes associated with acceptance and use of prize.
Any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this tournament, or any prize awarded, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by arbitration. Claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this contest, but in no event attorney's fees. These Official Rules shall be governed by, subject to, and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States of America, excluding all conflict of law rules. If any provision(s) of these Official Rules are held to be invalid or unenforceable, all remaining provisions hereof will remain in full force and effect. To the extent permitted by law, the rights to litigate, seek injunctive relief or make any other recourse to judicial or any other procedure in case of disputes or claims resulting from or in connection with this tournament are hereby excluded, and all Participants expressly waive any and all such rights.
Disclaimer.
eGO will not be held responsible if for any reason the Tournament is not capable of running or operating as planned due to infection by computer virus, fraud, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, technical failures, or force majeure that, in the sole opinion of eGO, corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Tournament. eGO reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with or abuses any aspect of the Tournament, as solely determined by eGO, and to cancel, terminate, modify, or postpone the Tournament until a later date. eGO assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, or other failure of or related to the software platform on which the Tournament is played, including any injury or damage to participant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this Tournament.
