So I just started playing around with scripts the other day & started with a rather simple Engie Script to Build & Destroy.

But I found that my #1/5 key is actually Building/Destroying entry, while 4/8 are Building/Destroying sentry & I'm not sure why since 1/5 should be sentry & 4/8 entry.

maybe I've been looking @ it too long but, since I know others hear are using scripts was hoping someone could give me some feed back.

Also I'm surprised that they isn't a script section in this division where folks can share & review scripts

So Below is the script I'm using atm, thanks

1-4 for Instabuild, autoswitches to shotgun after build.

//BUILD MENU
alias buildsentry "build 3; wait 50; +attack; wait 50; -attack; wait; slot1"
alias builddispenser "build 0; wait 50; +attack; wait 50; -attack; wait; slot1"
alias buildentry "build 1; wait 50; +attack; wait 50; -attack; wait; slot1"
alias buildexit "build 2; wait 50; +attack; wait 50; -attack; wait; slot1"
bind "1" "buildsentry"
bind "2" "builddispenser"
bind "3" "buildentry"
bind "4" "buildexit"

5-8 to destroy buildings, autoswitches to shotgun after

//Destroy Menu
alias destroysentry "destroy 3; wait 50; slot1"
alias destroydispenser "destroy 0; wait 50; slot1"
alias destroyentry "destroy 1; wait 50; slot1"
alias destroyexit "destroy 2; wait 50; slot1"
bind "5" "destroysentry"
bind "6" "destroydispenser"
bind "7" "destroyentry"
bind "8" "destroyexit"

know you probably did, but did you put it in your "cfg>engineer" folder?

There is none because (My guess) there just isn't much you can do with scripts. I personally have perfected the art of the "Engie Quickswitch" In which a sentry is up in a moment's notice and no scripts are involved.

Pretty much the same here

Just play combat engineer

Can't tell 'ya how happy I am for you, sadly your post has no relevance to the issue I'm trying to address which is why part of this above script isn't binding to the correct keys.
But thanks for playing

I was just wondering if we are allowed to use scripting on the servers, i.e. a quickscope key or a minisentry/frontier justice crit boost (binding a key to destroying the minisentry), or max-height rocket jumping

Is there maybe a limit to the number of commands that can be nested into one statement? Maybe can only be ternary *shrugs*

I learned to play without em. My quickscope script doesn't work anyway. I found it's actually a very useful tool with the wrangler.

But regarding your problem, I can't find any flaws with your code. Even more so, I can't see how a different key would be bound to a command. I can't help you there.

Wait commands don't work in TF2 anymore.

This is a script that I made a year ago.

// ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
// BUILD SCRIPT
// ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

//Sentry building script
bind KP_UPARROW "destroy 2; build 2; build_sentry"

//Dispenser building script
bind KP_DOWNARROW "destroy 0; build 0; build_dispenser"

//Entrance building script
bind KP_LEFTARROW "destroy 1; build 1; build_entrance"

//Exit building script
bind KP_RIGHTARROW "destroy 3; build 3; build_exit"

Keypad Up = Sentry
Keypad Down = Dispenser
Keypad Left = Tele Entrance
Keypad Right = Tele Exit

The keys used to be bound to F1, F2, F3,and F4 but I had to change it because of MvM.

So press Keypad Up to build a sentry, press again to destroy the sentry and build a new one.

So 1st off seems I had Build/destroy 2 = sentry
Build/destroy 1 = tele entrance Mixed up

Interesting about the wait commands, over @ the steam forums, some one edited my script with out wait commands & this what he gave me

//Build
alias +sent "build2;+attack"
alias -sent "-attack;slot1"
alias +disp "build0;+attack"
alias -disp "-attack;slot1"
alias +entr "build1;+attack"
alias -entr "-attack;slot1"
alias +exit "build3;+attack"
alias -exit "-attack;slot1"
bind 1 +sent
bind 2 +disp
bind 3 +entr
bind 4 +exit

//Destroy
alias dsent "destroy 2;slot1"
alias ddisp "destroy 0;slot1"
alias dentr "destroy 1;slot1"
alias dexit "destroy 3;slot1"
bind 5 dsent
bind 6 ddisp
bind 7 dentr
bind 8 dexit

But I can't get it to work at all, when ever I press 1-8 it just brings up my gun & fires it. So I took MY script & removed the wait commands with no luck of it working either. Hmm guess I'd do some more research

Thanks for the reply & a look @ your script

So I found out that it does work but some servers disable them from being used, I guess all the servers I tested my scripts on seemed to have had the wait command disabled, so I just assumed they we're removed at some point. Just wondering is it enabled on our servers?

yes, the wait command is enabled on our servers. Why wouldn't it be, I see no need to have it disabled anywhere, servers that disable it are run by (in my personal opinion) idiots.

Servers that have the wait command disabled base their server's .cfg on competitive standards, that's why.

@t CAPS LOCK's script looks more efficient so I suggest trying that out, rebinding the keys to however you want it.

Most likely a stupid question, but what are you using to edit your scripts? Although notepad is supposed to be universal, I have found that it tends to mess up spacing, and it's better to use something like notepad++. Other than that I can really think of no reason off the top of my head why you should be having issues.

Thanks for the replies. I haven't had time to look into waitcommads ect (that will likely have to wait till the weekend). I did how ever resolve the sentry & teleporter key issue, The only other I sometimes have with the said script is once in a while it won't build anything from a push of the build button. Not sure if that's a waitcommand issue or what. Generally I play 98% of the time on eGO servers.

More efficient script writing wise or game play? Either way I'll test.

Indeed I am using notepad++
